I said I would never buy an ultimate edition or collectors set for another game after I bought GTA V, intending that to be the last video game I would be excited for. 

 

Im out of college now... no way I'm not getting the ultimate version and collectors set. What is wrong with me

You know what they could have added to the special or ultimate edition? The freakin' soundtrack. And in the collector's box the vinyl format. Could have been a lot cooler

If they put out a vinyl soundtrack, I'll be all over it.  A vinyl soundtrack/art book package would be a nice package.

Speaking of artbook, I'm surprised they didn't mention any details on that today.

I remember with Red Dead Redemption there were a few things that were exclusive to pre orders, but that exclusive content was eventually made available to everyone through DLC a few months down the line.

the mexican outfit is cool but it worries me that it means we can only buy/change outfits and not individual clothing items

Some observations...

 

- I'm guessing that the bonus bank robbery means that all the bank heists are somehow scripted and you'll not be able to rob a bank whenever you feel like it.

 

- A horse breed comes now in different colours, that's nice.

 

- Didn't knew Ardennes horses were used for riding, I hope that we will not see unicorns and zebras in singleplayer.

 

- I saw bonus "outfits" but I really hope that we'll be able to buy clothing seperately this time like a shirt or a vest or a pair of boots.

More importantly. "Outfits." I wanted to properly customise Arthur and my online character. 
 

That will be the "deadeye" ability. R* mentioned it before that the deadeye can do stuff like follow tracks left by animals, see what type of animals are in the area or what type of fish is in the lake nearby. Looks like deadeye will be multi-purpose in this one, kind of like the witcher ability from W3 i guess?

 

And in terms of outfits, yes. I was hoping for more GTAVO style clothing but looks like they are going for "outfits" where you have to probably buy an whole outfit instead of buying the shoes, pants, shirt, hat separately. R* are probably going to reserve a couple of outfits behind challenges as well, kind of like they did in RDR, i hated those.

One of the cigarette cards in the collector's box is of a hot-air balloon. I really hope they will be in the game.

 

Edit: It sounds like they will be a form of collectibles in the actual game itself, and one card from each category is included physically in the collector's box. One of the categories is 'Marvels of Travel', and that really has me excited.

People who say r* has changed obviously haven't been gaming for long. We had the same type of stuff for rdr1 and gta 5 editions but nope r* wasn't greedy back then huh?

THIS THIS THIS nailed it all. THIS. im tired of hearin ppl whine and create crazy expectations in their head that are never met . just dont pre order the game then if u dont like the bonuses. boom problem solved. and if u hate R* so much just dont buy the game AT ALL. So much entitlement its crazy my generation. I think it also just hasn't hit some people that we are literally only 4 months and some days from release...

Sam Houser was watching 6ix9ine perform. There were only a couple more days for E3 and his f*ck E3 party to start. They had secured the location for the party it was located right across the street from the LA Convention center. They walk up some stairs and into an office that overlooks the stage where they go to speak in private. Sam sits down in the big chair  with Dan Houser and Strauss Zelnick standing by his side. He opens one of the drawers of the desk taking out a bottle of scotch and pours everyone a glass.

"I know you guys have a deal with Sony but f*ck it. We want in let us show some RDR2 footage on our stage."

"Are you sure this is what you want? I mean we'll do it but are you sure is this is what you want?"

"Yes we'll pay for any of the fines you guys receive from Sony."

"Fine but we want payment immediately and reserve the right to pull out at the last second."

"Done I'll wire the money over by the end of business today."

The men enjoy more alcohol and share some stories. As Dan, Strauss, and Phil leave Sam goes into the bathroom and washes his face. He looks at the mirror and starts speaking to himself.

" I didn't forget about you. Phil is desperate. He needs this E3 to go well for him and Xbox or they're done. Shawn Layden can cry all he wants about it but money talks and R* always goes to the highest bidder. VCS and LCS were PS2 exclusives, EFLC was a timed exclusive. Now Sony has us doing some exclusive crap for Red Dead Redemption 2 online. I don't care for the console wars but I'll use them to my advantage if necessary. The bottom line in this business is make money or go broke. We've seen countless other companies go out of business Acclaim, THQ, Midway. R* is not joining them I plan on making money. Oh and welcome back."

They aren't the first developer to do this, I've seen it a few times before. I think the thinking on their side is that it's not considered one of the games "editions", but an optional extra for diehard fans looking for that extra bit along with their purchase of the game. That doesn't stop developers getting stick for it when people learn of it though.

 

It also means that you can buy the Collector box without worrying about platform, so if you walk into a shop and only own a PS4 you won't have to buy the Xbox version of it just to get that version if the PS4 version is out of stock. It's also useful for people who want that box but want to buy a digital version.

 

But people love to instantly get their pitchforks out.

Call me crazy but I honestly think it'll be on both Xbox and Sony's stage... for one yes they both already dropped their pre order stuff but also it's realistic to think that something as big as first exclusive content and for Xbox I swear I saw this somewhere "buy an Xbox one x and get red dead redemption for free"... WHAT?! You're damn right they're gonna mention that they dont even need rockstar to be there for that. Also for pre order section on exclusive first for PlayStation they said "details to follow" likely will be shown at E3 is my theory.

I'll at least get the special edition the other stuff doesn't interest me much though it's a nice touch I just can't see myself spending more then that on the game i got bills to pay lol

I noticed one group of the cigarette cards is Stars of the Stage.  Probably means we'll have a variety of stage shows, which is awesome.
