Red Dead Redemption 2: Discussion & Speculation (Part 2)

I honestly don't care too much about the physics. They already said we can shoot hats off people's heads, or get our own hat shot off. I assume shooting guns out of people's hands is gonna return too. I never thought RDR physics we're that much different than V's, maybe I just dont pay attention to that stuff.

I'm sure it will be fine.

The overzealous-ness about physics makes me wanna barf. The constant circle jerk about physics is just the worst. Burn it with fire.

They bumped back the art book release a week. Its now releasing on November 6th.

Wait, what ... why? Maybe so it doesn't get overshadowed by the release of the game itself?

Or for spoilers. Its a common thing so nothing to worry about.

Where did you even read about it? Source please so I can update the thread for it. Thanks!

It's one of the most important things in a game. You're mostly gonna be shooting folk so why should people be happy with V physics when we've seen what they can really do before that?

That guy doesn't have a clue what they're like by the sound of it, so no need to worry

Your source is someone speculating on Twitter?

His source is someone that actually saw the game. That guy is still just speculating though, since apparently he didn't think to ask any important questions when he was being shown the game

IGN man, they're cool and all, but I always feel like they don't know f*ck ass all about video games

That guy is still just speculating though, since apparently he didn't think to ask any important questions when he was being shown the gameHonestly I think the physics are near the bottom of the list of things on their mind (and most of the general public/causal players). If the physics were identical to V's, the only loud vocal groups like on this forum would be the ones upset. Just like V's driving physics, the average player wouldn't care at all, indifferent.

That said, I do think they will amp up the physics for this game, if only for the lasso effects and stuff like that.

What are you more interested in: Music, physics or something else? I'll have to pick music. Loved the music in trailer 3

Oh definitely music. That's intergral for the overall feel of RDR and will be for RDR2.

People actually want to guess how the game ends? Lol SMFH. 1 things for sure if you can come up with some generic plot to the ending it probably won't end that way. Devs go out of they're way to hire not 1 but at times multiple writers whenn creating a story. There is a art to story telling, creativity is key. Not just repeat the same exact sh*t from the previous story or come up with some basic ass plot that a 5 year old could think of.

Im happy none of these people are writing the game some of these theories are f*cking stupid

Someday when the game is eventually released, and we know the Rockstar RDR2 story, we should start a Forum thread where we discuss the various RDR2 theories and predictions, and then we'll see who the better plot writers were - Rockstar pros, or random Forumers. :p

AI is most important for me, then probably physics. Things that get me immersed in the game world.

Physics-wise I assume they're going to go for something more realistic than Redemption. I'm thinking a blend of Redemption and GTA V would be best. I loved people grabbing wounds in Redemption but hated how weightless and ragdoll looking people could get. Also the stupid way NPC's would stumble around like they're drunk as hell when they get shot. It was like your bullets were loaded with some kind of super alcohol or something. And everyone sold headshots like they were Ric Flair, staying on their feet for way too long before flopping down.

I mean I liked the dramatic deaths, that's part of the Western genre. Gotta have that.

OK if we can shoot guns out of enemies hands and they don't die from getting shot in the hands multiple times.

Then I'm not going to kill anyone, just shot their hands until they run away.

That will be my challenge if the physics are good

I'm just saying , I could shoot a cigarette out of someone's mouth in Red Dead Redemption with a sniper rifle. Going backwards with those physics would be a damn shame.

Nah they just reacted better to being shot. I think V's shootouts were the most boring out of any Rockstar game.

The bodies had the weight of a car, that's not realistic at all.

It's so much more fun in RDR and actually feels like you shot someone

What am I liters stead in the most? Hmm that's a tough one.

I can't wait for that calm October night, slight chill in the air, the smell of wood smoke coming through my window along with the cool breeze. That smell of a freshly opened game case (yes I'm weird) still gripping my heart as I spark up a blunt and see these words:

ROCKSTAR GAMES PRESENTS: RED DEAD REDEMPTION 2

Pop up on my television screen for the first time.

That's what I'm interested in the most.

Has anyone actually tried shooting people with the double action reliever in GTA O ?. It has some kick and sends some enemies do a backwards flip

I pretty much only use that weapon now, it doesn't do anything special, people get shot and fall the same way as other powerful weapons. The Heavy Revolver, Heavy Sniper, shotguns, etc all have the same kind of reactions.

The grabbing wounds bit maybe, but stumbling about like one of the Three Stooges with a head injury is not a great reaction to being shot in the torso.

To me GTA V's characters had the weight of a 100+ pound person rather than a 10 pound ragdoll. Redemption was like shooting a lifesize Woody from Toy Story come to life.

There was more clarity in GTA V's shootouts too. In Redemption you had to double tap everyone before you moved onto the next guy because it was impossible to tell if you actually killed the guy and he was just over acting the hell out of it or if he was just stumbling around for a bit before returning fire.

At the end of the day how people react to getting shot is less important to me than how the playable character works. I just hope they improve on character movement/control over the last one. No more stumbling and turning into a ragdoll because hills are a little too steep.

This!! The physics in V were just dumbed down to hell and back! I really hope that they don't have physics that are too realistic. This is not gta were realism is king. This is RDR2 where ppl fly back hard from gunshots. I hope that they step it up from the previous Red Dead.
