I believe that Sadie is saying "You're the only one of these fools that I trust," to John Marston and not Arthur Morgan.

Watching this has got me hyped...

I'm hoping for the same type of feel, but a lot better lol

ok but far cry 5 doesn't have dynamic weather. The sky is always clear blue

Far cry 5 does nothing impressive whatsoever. The world looks ok that is all the game has to offer. AI? Dumb af. Story? Comedy. Most Open worlds don't do anything new or creative anymore. Remember when you would watch a game years ago and go "Oh you can do that?" That rarely exist now. A OPEN world will get praise just off the size of the world alone. I don't even bother wasting money on any open world besides R*. It's like having the baddest bitch then f*cking some handicap whore you met on Craigslist. Days gone looks ambitious but dull AF tbh. When i watch a games gameplay I expect to see something that makes me say "oh sh*t" if any game can't do that for me I want nothing to do with it. Open world fatigue is real people, Every time you turn around its a new open world game that will be forgotten in 2 weeks. Days gone unfortunately might be next on that list.Agree 100%. The open world genre is honestly overrated af. People will praise it because of infinite replay value or some sh*t like that. Its the most oversaturated, mass-produced genre that exists in gaming. Its also the easiest to market. .

The only open worlds this gen that I truly admire are Fallout 4, AC Origins, and Zelda BoTW. Fallout has depth. AC Origins has incredible scale. Zelda has both, with actual nuance in its mechanics as well.

Its obvious why Rockstar would say that. They also told us not to expect any returning characters from GTA IV in GTAV. That was a fat lie. Rockstar is deliberately trying to mislead us.

I think they meant that as in - there arent multiple protagonists to switch back and forth from like in GTA. John will absolutely be a playable character at the end of the game. Even the original leak said so.

I want to see RDR2 succeed. I know it will, but Im not sure itll surpass the success of GTAV. Though, I hope it will.

It'll be hard due to how mainstream the GTA franchise is. It's still gonna sell quite a lot of copies though.

RDR2 won't even get close to GTAV numbers, the only game capable of doing that will be GTAVI

I doubt it, why would he be a playable character? Let's say the game ends in 1906 like people think, what did john do between 1906 and 1911? Nothing he just lived on a farm.

What if the game ended in 1899 what did he do between 1899 and 1906? He was part of dutches gang as was Arthur so why would we switch to John? It doesn't make sense as rob Nelson said this isn't johns story

The story will still be Athurs. Playing as John in the epilogue/post-credits wont change that. We still see Red Dead 1 as Johns story, even though his son is a playable character and kills Ross at the end. Him living on his little farm is a perfect way to segue his character in. Think about it. Theres no conflict anymore. Itll leave all the minigames, ranch missions, and side quests available to John. Just like Jack in RDR1.

Potential Spoilers...

^^^ exactly!

While I'm not sold on the idea of being able to play as John (or any other character for that matter.)

If they were to include a small section where you play as John as a nod to returning players, why on earth would they spoil that in a pre release interview?

That'd be like them saying in 2009 "our new game red dead redemption will have you play as partly reformed outlaw John marston, but hey just don't get too attached to him...for not every story has a happy ending."

It completely ruins any emotion that's supposed to be attached to that moment by seeing it for the first time blind.

Naughty Dog did the same thing. They said you play as Joel the whole game. Wrong. You play as Ellie for a good two hours during the winter portion.

Really hope we don't play as John at the end. Or at least that we have the option not to via choices we had made earlier in the game

I think the problem (my problem) is that with GTAV they excluded things from single player that would have made it a more enriching experience, opting to have them exclusive to online, in order to make their online business model competitive (to encourage people to play online). Things like car insurance. You should be able to do basically anything in single player that you can do online.

I hope that they do not do this again

That's the best option, honestly. I really want to play as Arthur rather than John. I like playing as him in RDR but I want someone different this time. Carrying animals will also look pretty goofy with John rather than the strong Arthur Morgan.

Just because Naughty Dog let you play as another character in the last of us(& uncharted 4) doesn't mean that R* is going to do it 100%. Don't get your hopes up too much or you'll just end up being disappointed.

Really, I'm not assuming anything about the storyline except what they've told us, and even then taking that with a grain of salt

I may be overthinking this, but I have a feeling that Javier Escuella may have been influenced by Robert Ford, from "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford". I immediately thought of Bob when I read IGN's description of him: "In 1899, Javier seems to be less the sly (and slightly manic) gunman we saw in RDR1, and more of a brooding, stoic young man - though that’s not his only trait. We saw him plucking aimlessly at a guitar in our demo, and it’s likely he provides the camp with more lively entertainment when the group is in high spirits." I then remembered the theory that someone on here brought up about how maybe Javier dresses like Dutch because he looks up to/wants to be like him(similar to how Bob was obsessed with Jesse). In a way, his actions in the first game suggest he is a coward(as Bob was thought of), and both Javier and Bob suffer the same fate as their idols - Bob is assassinated, Javier goes mad(according to John). There were also some visual similarities, this shot in particular reminded me of how Bob looks on the poster for the soundtrack and movie - solemn, brooding, calculating in the background.

Again, maybe I'm goin' way off the rails with this theory, but given the amount of references to the film already, I think it's not too far-fetched to suggest. Thoughts?

One thing is for sure about the story, they will throw in a twist at the end that makes someone die. Or someone will be a traitor and die. Something sad or upsetting will happen I am sure.

I don't know if this was exactly Rockstars intention, but this is an interesting analysis. The game is taking inspiration from more modern westerns like The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, which is evident in its trailers and tone. The first game had a lot of spaghetti western influence, especiall from Sam Peckinah, (seriously, watch the movie the Wild Bunch. Its basically the plot of RDR except we play as the antagonist.) whichwas obvious in the trailers and their tone. The writing in the third trailer felt very 'modern westernish' if you get my meaning. I like the tone they're going for with this game a lot so far.

In any replay I always skip all the Stranger missions (except for I Know You) as John and do them as Jack. It feels weird that John would stop and do all these diversions while trying to get his family back

I don't know why but in all trailers so far rockstar have kept Bill , John , Javier quiet they haven't even gave them a single line in a trailer. It's all about Arthur and Dutch
