Will Red Dead Redemption 2's world evolve over time? If so, does it eventually stop expanding or will we continuously see new stuff being built within the map? This feature is revolutionary.

Doesn't really seem possible that things would just endlessly evolve. My guess is it's just a handful of buildings that go up over time and only if you're actually progressing in the storyline.

it never stops evolving and eventually turns into grand theft auto 6

Yes,Days Gone is a generic game. It does not bring anything innovative and has a ridiculous and outdated HUD.

It's more of a "Sony the Game" action-adventure game full of scripts and cutscenes at every turn with a damn slow camera on the shoulders.

I hate to say it, but I agree. It still looks like a cool game, but its so Sony-fied. As much as I love The Last of Us, like everyone else, Im sorta pissed at that games influence.

All these Sony exclusives are trying to be a carbon copy Naughty Dog game. If I didnt know and somebody told me God of War 4 was made by Naughty Dog, I wouldve believed it.

Sony also needs to produce more open world games. Horizon 0 Dawn barely counts. And of course Days Gone is a zombie game. Imagine an open world game from Naughty Dog.

How to make a Sony game...

1) Third person

2) mini cutscene every 5 minutes

3) shallow stealth mechanics

4) super dramatic storyline

Sony needs to bring back the getaway.

Days Gone doesn't look bad IMO, not even remotely. It's just... There aint anything in what they've shown that wows me, the closest they get is with the big hordes but mechanically it looks pretty standard, the bike looks stiff with no sense of speed AT ALL and then they show side stuff like zombie nests, talk about radio towers (even if they aren't climbable things) and it just feels more of the same side content that has kinda started to plague open world games. Then they show crafting and NPC hubs with vendors and quest quivers that tell you to go clear out a pack that's been bothering a transport route... It's all stuff we've seen before a million times. It's a good formula to make a solid and more than enjoyable game but it's unlikely to win any awards or really blow anyone away.

Rockstar's always had an influence over the industry and particularly open world games and if RDR2 has one lasting impact on the industry and genre I hope it's that they really change the thinking behind side content. I'd take 10 hours of quality side content over 20+ hours of checkbox style stuff any day of the week. I don't need or want to be told to visit a place for a quest/mission, let me go there of my own accord and stumble on the story there my self. Less, sometimes, can be more.

WAKE EM UP A LITTLE - Dutchiepoo

Has anyone come across or made a video that connects all three RDR 2 trailers with their respective scenes as how they would go chronologically? Could be cool to see now with a third trailer and new info.

....

I agree with most of the sentiments about Days Gone, such a bummer. Nothing innovative or exciting, probably will have good story but will be decent overall. I had high hopes like most, and wished it could be an open world game with a good story and fun, new features. Like a survival open world game, Walking Dead type narrative. Maybe you could build and scavenge to survive and lead people.. but no.

How much do yall think the budget for RDR2 is?

Lol just curious to see what you all think.

With 8 years of development, I wouldn't be surprised if it cost more than GTA V did, at $265 million.

Lol at $265M

It will be $50M max

You really think the budget will be $50M max? The original Red Dead Redemption is estimated to have had a development budget of $80M+, excluding any marketing costs. Max Payne 3 had a development budget in excess of $100M. Sure, RDR2 probably won't have an overall cost of $265M like GTAV. But, unlike GTAV I doubt over $120M will be spent on marketing for RDR2. Seems to me a reasonable estimate of RDR2's development budget would be in excess of $100M, perhaps similar to GTAV's development budget of $137M.

I might still buy it just for the story

The team behind the game hasn't done a good job promoting it either lol.

That will be absolutely terrible and simply just lazy as f*ck. They expect people to assume so. I highly doubt the story will be that damn predictable.

Yeah I read that TrustedReview leak again ... apparently Dead Eye will have a new tracking feature that helps you detect bounties as well as fish/animals nearby. Well, at least you are not forced to use it (hopefully).

When I first seen the Days Gone E3 demo I felt it just looked like a tech demo with zombies in it. Like it lacked substance.

probably john from what we seen in RDR, maybe him being blind in one eye is his advantage. but who knows, maybe arthur is the one who taught him how to use deadeye

edit, i read that wrong. i still think john would win, arthur looks big and slow lol maybe he's more of a fighter

wow, I think in 1899 .. I would bet on Arthur.

To add fuel to the fire, this thread is dry now

The truth is that I do not know if John was such a good gunslinger at 89 lol

I dont see them making john suck and him being amazing as hell at shooting like 10 years later. depending on how far back it goes that is. if we see john join the gang, then yeah, he would be garbage at that point in time I think. lol. im sure he'll be pretty good though and not like a damsel in distress type or an annoying kid. I don't see R* doing that. I also don't think it makes much sense.

Far Cry 5, what a shallow ass game. But damn if it isnt beautiful. The game nails scope when youre up a mountainside. I love hunting by the YES sign, its so remote and atmospheric. I wish the game had more depth in its mechanics though. They removed crafting.

I have to admit, I bought FC5 out of partial hype for RDR2. I was craving a wilderness adventure set in the US.

We actually started one up in the mapping thread about a week or two ago. I'll try to find the page/post and get back to you...

Edit: It starts at the bottom of page 42, then goes throughout page 43.

Anyone think it would have just made more sense to have RDR2 as the first one and John Marston story as the sequel?

I think Chicago and Hollywood (LA) also.

I think it's better how it is

For many things

In the time of one I remember that some games addressed the 'Redemption' or the typical "I regret everything ..", put that in the western genre was a pass.

And inside that saga, when you already know the characters, it's great to see what happened

In 2 apart from band, they are a family, look how many people, what happened to them?

Many of the best stories start like this, the other way round

If you think I'm going to quibble, lol

I wasn't really that impressed with the nature in Far Cry 5. But I will say they got the lighting in the mountains correct.

That's also true. Good point. But i'm just talking about the feel of the forests and the mountain ranges. Very organic. Far Cry 5 and Kingdom Come Deliverance have amazing nature.
