Orange is the colour of the Dutch royal family- the House of Orange-Nassau, founded by William I of Orange. It's also why their national team kit is orange.

He doesn't mention anything about his lineage in Red Dead Redemption likely because he didn't need to. He was a bit busy being hunted down by John and lawmen to discuss his heritage in depth. I'm sure we'll find out more about it in this RDR2.

Dutch's family hail from the Netherlands hence his last name but I think Dutch may just be a nickname likewise Irish.

I don't think R* was trying to use his shirt's colour as a reference to the Dutch Royal Family as not many would get the reference unlike with Irish who spoke in a heavy Irish accent to dignify his nationality (also, Dutch's shirt is more red than orange).

I also said a few posts ago that it would have been neat if Dutch made a reference to John before he fell to his death and said something like 'That's why they call me Dutch'.

Anyway, like you said, I also want to find out why he's called Dutch in RDR2.

I think RDR2 will force me to watch Hell on Wheels.

Lol, do it!

I have many other shows to binge watch and/or catch up to on Netflix. I think i will just watch few clips of the show on YouTube.

Hey guys, so I was thinking about the next treasure hunt for GTAO and I wondered, maybe it isn't a gun again, what if it is an old car from the era? Like the one we ride as a passenger in RDR1. I don't know how you would go about finding it, but it would fit perfectly in GTAO.

Extremely unlikely. Being set in 1899 almost completely eliminates that as a possiblity. Cars were invented before then yes, but the assembly line (pioneered by Ford) wasn't. The amount of vehicles on the road we're incredibly small compared to 1911. As a matter of fact, there were NO American car manufacturers producing cars yet. Oldsmobile was already a company, but they didn't produce a car until 1901.

Just saw an hour of "days gone" on gameinformer, 2 things:

1) I wish rdr2 will get the same treatment, 1 hour gameplay and all kinds of interviews, on Video.

2) Days gone just sucks big time, "seen it done that" is written all over it, now i understand rockstar executives wanting to do something innovative, it's important nowadays.

With 8 years of development, I wouldn't be surprised if it cost more than GTA V did, at $265 million.

The typical big AAA development budget these days is ~$100m not including marketing. Given the length and scale of it's development, RDR2 could well be triple that.

May has been a pretty busy month. Red Dead Redemption Trailer #3 dropped, a slew of screenshots, some juicy details about the game (so far). Now the Black Ops IIII Reveal is May 17, the next Battlefield game gets its first reveal on May 23, Days Gone getting coverage all month long. The Road to E3 is here you can tell. Love this time of year.

1) No, thankfully - knowing R* - this will never happen. A gameplay series of 2-3 videos is enough for me.

2) Yes.

I really hope each individual NPC will have a name. That was such a cool thing in RDR and I was dissapointed with GTAV for not having it, but it was understandable given GTAV is metropolitan and has hardly any 1 on 1 npc interactions aside from insulting somebody. I would be really impressed to find certain NPCs and listen to what they do and say and see whole wiki pages about random NPCs and their behaviors. I also toyed with the idea of having NPCs die, like if there is an old man who lives in a cabin named Jebediah Grimm and I shoot him in the head, I won't see Jebediah anymore. I know this would eventually lead to ghost towns for us psychopaths who eventually get bored and murder everyone, but I feel like it could be fixed to certain NPCs like in past games, like Fallout and GTAIV/RDR but on a more dynamic scale and only with certain NPCs.

I actually like this idea. Don't think rockstar will go that route however. But id have loved to take out Herbert moon and not put up with his sh*t anymore (he ruined poker for me along with they guy that says about lambrini has a civil war brewing, sure as shooting. I just wanna play as an asshole. The game could replace them with a randomised npc after a few days, that offers the same service i.e. shop keepers.

The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.

I watched a bit longer but it's so boring. Also yeah, almost stopped at detective mode, I hate this stuff in games.

Too many open world games have them. I don't see the point I don't want to look through walls. I'm happy R* hasn't done that.

The latest Tomb Raider is around $100m, that's the standard for AAA games these days. $70m might get us a quarter of RDR2 lol.

You guys realize that a game doesn't cost less just because of the theme.

It also is pretty damn dated.

Look at the cutscenes, that don't even flow with gameplay, and how badly the mission design is.

The game graphically holds up well, but other than that, it really is more than awful.

this game takes $ 500,000

Do you know what it costs basically ... whatever you want to implement being a 'pioneer' in it?

and besides that, the time it takes to develop

R * the hard one

"Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and other different AAA single-player games, cost $75 million to $100 million," Anfossi admits. "And that's production only; it's close to $35 million on the promotion. So there's definitely a pressure. We cannot avoid it. But, at the same time, for us to have these incubation projects and to try small things... that gives us the opportunity to test, prepare and secure some stuff, and remove some risk."

RDR2 $50m? I imagine that won't even cover the marketing budget, lmao.

As a matter of fact, it will cost less though, GTA V had radio stations(which make up for pretty huge amounts of the budget, licensing really isn't cheap nowadays) and GTA V had one of the biggest marketing campaigns in gaming history, those were the reasons for all its costs.

I am sure however, that Red Dead Redemption II, will still feature a pretty high budget though, my guess would be somewhere between 100 and 150 Million US$.

Yeah, but RDR2 was in development for 3 years longer than GTA V. Employees don't work for free.

Crafting, shoehorned skill tree, detective mode, generic open world, etc etc

God its like they tried to make Days Gone as generic as possible. And its been in development since 2014 i think

I am actually not even sure, how Rockstar would calculate that budget to be honest.

Since they went to global development now, and a lot of Rockstar employees work on multiple projects at the same time(R* North, working on GTA Online, Bully 2 and Red Dead Redemption II all at the same time), I believe it should be pretty hard to have a set in stone number.

But yea, the 8 years development time seem pretty incredible, and if Max Payne 3 is anything to go by, it can only mean good for the game.

They didn't really start full development until 2014-15. Rob Nelson said that they worked on concept art first.
