Red Dead Redemption 2: Discussion & Speculation (Part 2)

The Interview also confirms that there won't be procedurally generated events, as there were in Red Dead Redemption.

The Events, will rather be catered to the point in story you are and are all individually designed.

Which interview was that in ? Do you have a link ?

I mean, I am fine with that. The constant horse robberies and duels in RDR got real annoying, real fast

No he didn't, he doesn't tell Jack when he asks. He just says that he didn't get them from falling over in church, implying he was doing something bad when he got them.

Yeah if a griz had swiped across John's face, that side of his face would have had to be sewn back on.

Not in all cases, if only the tip of the claw hits the skin it doensn't always leave a deep cut.

Does anyone know who the girl that says "you will never change, i know that" from the third trailer is? It sure as hell isnt abigail

Most likely Arthur's ex spouse or a close family member.

It seems they're really focusing on making the game world as interactive as possible.

By the way...169 days until release !!

Looks like Rockstar is indeed listening, and maybe tries to address Red Dead Redemption IIs texture issues, that people criticized about the Trailer.

A new job offering went up today:

DESCRIPTION

Rockstar Games would like to hear from the industry’s most talented and passionate Material Artists!

We are looking to grow a new team to help us develop our exciting projects. Strong texturing skills in both Photoshop and Substance is not enough. Candidates must also be able to create beautiful surfaces that can tell the story of an object through its material wear and tear.

This position will have a large impact on multiple departments and drastically affect the look and feel of the game.

We prize an ability to demonstrate individual design skills; including concept and creation of assets that are both original and yet still keep a look and feel of their specific real-world references.

All this sounds great! But also very ambitious, but I dont really know the power that the PS4 has in terms of creating an open wolrd on this scale with this detail.

Uncharted 4 is great, visually and gameplay but its linear, so everything was shown and rendered in its place and time.

Im hoping that they dont have to cut back on any of this ambition.

Was the demo played on a regular PS4?

Yep. One of the previews mentioned the demo was run on a base PS4.

was there any other action adventure -openworld- games that had human shield before the Saints Row franchise? If there was then my bad.

One game having something and then another game down the line having the same feature doesn't always mean influencing. Human shields are not a bold new concept, they've been in TV and film forever and probably many other games before that. The genre here is pretty meaningless. Likewise the GPS in SR being first was most likely a byproduct of SR1 being out before IV, proper GPS systems weren't exactly common in the days of GTA 3 and SA.

I loved SR1 and SR2 but I cannot think of a single thing that they influenced in any Rockstar game after their release tbh, the same can't be said for Rockstar influencing Volitions games all the way until their latest release (Agents of Mayhem), mind you.

I hope this not off topic but was there bears in GTA V?

Yes.

No, there are no Bears in V

Don't know if this should have a separate thread but what horse are you looking forward to? What horse will be your trusty steed in RDR 2? I bought the GOTY version of RDR so I had the war horse right at the start of the game and I didn't replace it the whole game.

What are the best breed of horses? Assuming R* is going realistic route? I dont really know anything about horse but I would prefer a fast horse as well, seeing as you can upgrade everything else. Also, I want my horse in dark brown or black.

It's a known fact that bears appear in the hunting side missions.

Thanks folks. Well I apologise to king of action adventure and creator of the biggest game franchise in history- Rockstar Games. I will always be a loyal fanboy.

Great to see that the Bears are only in RDR2. Also fitting.

Anyway is Battle Royale a Genre or a Game mode?

Excuse me for my moment of stupidity, but when I read this section of the article (through the not so reliable google translate, this part confused me and still does.

What does this mean exactly? That there won't be random things happening in the world? Like people trying to rob others or steal their horses or God forbid Herbert f*cking moon getting robbed again?

That's odd. I know I can't be reading that right, I mean the world would be so empty. And not to mention all the work their doing with the interactivity of npcs. It seems odd to not have them doing little things we can intervene with.

God I know I'm being incredibly dense right now and I'm just not understanding it even though it's right in front of me.

Maybe someone could give me an example of this vs how GTAV random events worked? Are they just saying they don't want the SAME event popping up in the same spot over and over again like in GTAV? That's what I get out of it at least.

If that ain't Anna Paquin's voice Rockstar will have to deal with a lawsuit that character looks identical to Anna Paquin

To be fair all GTA's at that time were set in the 80's or 90's.

I think critics of action adventure games most open world, have always asked for relevant mini games or events and most gamers who find them useless -Yoga for example- so Rockstar Games is now doing just that (my thought I could be wrong again lol). Edited by BLOOD
