As much as I was disappointed by mafia III ( I really wanted it to be great and the story was but the gameplay was meh Imo)

Things like this made me stick around until the end

1.gif

The take downs were beautifully brutal especially the knife. But not only that, Lincoln was a mountain of a man who used his size to his advantage. Seeing Arthur I hope this is true in his situation as well.

The melee looks improved from what I can see so far, and I really hope we can do some brutal sh*t with that bone-handled knife of his. And not just quick slashes like in RDR.

Call me f*cked up but I want to see things like that one interrogation take down in mafia III where you held a guy up against the wall and slowly slipped your knife into his neck while he struggled to grab at your arms and face.

It just was so brutal, but Real too, it made you stop yourself and say "my god what am I doing?"

It showed you that taking a life was a nasty thing not to be taken lightly. It's a nice contrast to just shooting bags of meat with no emotion and not giving a f*ck like in every other game.

Dont worry, you can see that in Trailer 2

Days Gone is another game that's going to revolutionize the open world genre. I'm hyped for GI coverage!

From what ive seen it looks good, possibly fun but revolutionize open worlds? idk about that.

Yes 100% agree!

I liked that Lincoln was still a threat to people without a weapon in his hand..

Yeah we'll see about that one. It does have awesome open world elements such as giving the player choice to approach situations as desired, dynamic weather, and there seems to be a lot of in-world interaction. But again, there is a lot to be seen still.

Yes definitely. I'm not big on overusing QTEs but I think it'd be a lot better than just hacking at someone with your knife until they fall over. It just looks stupid.

We are now 33 days away from E3 press conferences. What do you guys think Rockstar will do in E3?I think they'll just introduce the special edition, or maybe they will not even participate, I think they'll not release a trailer, they love to release trailers 7-8 months after another, so, don't wait for anything big.

R* probably won't be at E3, but I think Sony will reveal a collectors edition for them and perhaps a special edition pro. R* will just tweet about it while away from the event. That's my prediction. I'm expecting a trailer in mid to late July next. I'd love for it to be sooner, but I think even mid to late July is early haha

I think we will get some info about what type of content we can expect for PS4 since they have that exclusivity deal with Sony.

This is why I'd like to see more contextual actions in games. I am hard-pressed to think of many games that do this much, if at all; the biggest one is probably Uncharted, where there are only a couple of buttons for melee combat but what Drake does varies enormously depending on where the enemy is and how they are positioned. Fist fights look very exciting and cinematic, but the game does the heavy lifting - the player is basically just pressing punch, dodge, or grab while Drake does all kinds of different versions of those actions.

Yep, exactly I'm not a fan of QTEs myself, unless used in the right context.

That's the thing though, it wouldn't even need to be a QTE. It just a contextual knife attack with varying animations. And I think I'd be happier with that even if the animations were repeated rather than just hacking at some dude bloodbourne style until he falls over. I never seen an actual knife fight go like that. If someone sticks you with a 8 inch blade once; it doesn't matter where it was, youre not gonna be continuing the fight. Unless you're a badass.

Exactly! Sorry didn't realize you had just posted the exact same thing I just posted. Was busy typing it lol, I was originally even gonna include the uncharted example lmao Edited by Synthetic_Soul

I was aware. I just don't know if that means E3 or if they're running on their own schedule. As for next trailer or gameplay details/footage, who knows really? I'm guessing mid to late July.

I'm actually kind of okay with this for games such as Uncharted or TLOU. They're more cinematic experiences anyway. But for games like RDR2, I'd be a little bit disappointed if the hand to hand combat or knife combat wasn't skill based.

I'm guessing there'll only be one more 'official' trailer for RDR2 and that'll be the launch trailer in October.

However I believe they'll make a short gameplay series again alà the RDR1, Max Payne 3 or L.A. Noire one with 2-3 videos showcasing in depth on what improvements they made for their first real next-gen game ... Weapons | World | AI and Physics ... or something along the lines.

June

Special Edition reveal + New Screenshots + Artworks

July

First Gameplay Video + New Screenshots + Artworks

August

Second Gameplay Video + Read Dead Online reveal + New Screenshots + Artworks

September

Third Gameplay Video + Hands-On Previews + New Screenshots + Artworks

October

Launch Trailer + Read Dead Online Previews + Reviews + New Screenshots + Artworks

December

It would be great a series of gameplays just like it was in RDR, but it will probably be a gameplay for the campaign and another for multiplayer just like in GTAV.

@Emmi That actually looks perfectly accurate to me. What about a new poll in here?

June pre-order deets, late July gameplay trailer, August RDRO reveal, September hands on previews, October release (heavy social media and TV/web advertising) and then RDRO launch two weeks after launch, just like GTAO. No way they keep RDRO locked away for a month or longer IMO. Don't see them farming out gameplay videos like RDR either, I think it'll be a one and done just like GTA V.

I'd love for it to be like this! And part of me agrees with it because of the whole "next gen improvements" thing. But eh I just ain't buying it completely yet, I still see only one gameplay trailer.

But if they brought back the series approach I'd lose my sh*t, but I'd be a little sad at the same time because I'd be spoiling that much more of the game for myself.

Because when it comes to new RDR2 info I have no self control.

I like what Emmi has laid out because it means we have something to look forward to every month, but I agree on the single gameplay trailer.

Other than the launch trailer, I don't think anything else will be story focused. They gave us a lot of story details....now it's time to see some gameplay.

As far as trailers go I only see one gameplay I'd say in July or August and then a RDRO in sept with a final launch trailer sometime mid October.i

Probably with a couple more written previews for RDRO sometime in between

I'm just convinced we'll get more than just one gameplay trailer for RDR2 (not talking about the inevitable Red Dead Online one here) because it's still a 'newer' franchise to Rockstar Games' portfolio and still very much less known about from the 'normal', non-R*-fanboy, gamer ... compared to Grand Theft Auto.

On top of that they'll want to show beforehand what incredible tech they were able to implement into their first next-gen game.

I guess the gameplay series could be a lot similar to the one from Max Payne 3 in that regard.

If you ask me, it's safe to assume we'll get more than just one gameplay trailer for RDR2 and I'm so looking forward to it.

Each might be around 3 minutes or 3:30 minutes long or so.

I agree to 100% and I bet this is even the plan R* follows. I also want to add: They may do a complete website overhaul along the way, like they did with GTAV, introducing the world and stuff.

Anything is possible but I don't think this reasoning will be the reason if we do get more gameplay videos for RDR tbh. It's widely expected to be the best selling game of the year so it aint like it's not well known. Don't forget that they're pushing RDR2 in GTA:O as well on the Newswire, on the loading screens and with tie in events. It's not a game that is lacking when it comes to general awareness, not by a long stretch.

I thought July would bring us gameplay, too. But now I'm leaning towards August for single player, with September bringing us an Online gameplay trailer. And Online to launch in November. I can't see Online launching over a month after release. That's just insane!

Why in the previews no one asked about gore in the game? Someone mentioned vultures will eat corpses, if there is no gore, it will look ridiculous, what do you think?
