Mas: a spin-off is Take-Two distributing 100% stake in Rockstar Games to it shareholders in a pro rata basis. So for example Take-Two spin off Rockstar Games it will be tax-free and have it own board, assets etc and the parent company will be a namesake entity like Rockstar Interactive Software Corp. or Rockstar International Inc. consisting of Rockstar Games, it studios, and any other assets Take-Two will sell to that company in exchange for cash so they can fold 2K Games, Private Division, and Social Point into the Rockstar name. The Rockstar Games brand is one of the most popular and beloved brand in entertainment as well so new shareholders will even value it more than it former owner Take-Two.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corporate_spin-off

https://www.wallstreetmojo.com/spin-off-vs-split-off

https://www.forbes.com/sites/joecornell/2018/04/04/spin-offs-can-spawn-great-investments/

It'd also mean Rockstar would be independent and a very attractive takeover option for a bigger company, which has the potential to cause an exodus of talent and damage the company significantly. Basically, it's not gonna happen and I don't know why you have such a sudden interest in them doing it.

* unlock shareholder value

* let each company focus on their brand, culture etc.

* financial flexibility

* New shareholders can appreciate the long term approach of a publicly traded Rockstar Games

* Growth

Take-Two do not necessarily have to sell 100% it can spin-off 95% and own remaining 5% to prevent from hostile acquisition. Plus a namesake publicly traded holding parent company to Rockstar Games does not have to have the Houses are board members they can still continue the way they are right now. And lastly, I can bet a publicly traded Rockstar Games will be worth more than parent company Take-Two today and even be 5x bigger than CD Projekt current valuation.

Interestingly in 2009, Take-Two sold it Jack of All Games distribution business so they are no stranger to corporate spin-off or divestiture. I also think if a spin-off never happens, Take-Two will just rename itself to align with Rockstar Games (Booking Holdings f/k/a Priceline Group did that since it own Booking.com) and they can sell 2K Games franchises to outside studios and rename the other labels into the Rockstar brand. So it down to two options: Spin-off or Rebrand.

They never actually promised gtav single player dlc did they?

Three or four times in 2013 and 2014 and then just flat out denied its existence later on lol

So not NBA 2K or WWE 2K this year? It seems like Take-Two is once again slowly killing anything not named Rockstar Games (and it studios). Even the expansion pack for KSP barely had any marketing. I think Private Division will be another Gotham Games or worse Double Take. And Social Point cannot make any hit (all the games in soft launch are having negative reception) so that another reason for a spin-off or rebrand. RDR2 will be their biggest money maker since GTA V and GTA Online. Rockstar Games is and always will ve the heartbeat of Take-Two Interactive.

I have a serious question I must ask all of yall, why is everyone getting so hyped for all of the features theyre talking about? Especially when weve been burnt on their previous games in some form. I mean I like rockstar games but theyre certainly no messiah of games. Im just wondering why sh*t on other games thinking this ones going to blow it out of the water is a bit much, this game could be a hot mess. All Im saying is wait until they show us what will really be in the game because expecting all of these things in single player may not happen because of online.

Just food for thought. Cheers- :)

Cool if you feel that way. I feel like multiple previews from various writers around the world arent lying. These people have seen the game running and theyve seen the features. This isnt coming directly from rockstar but from third party critics. Theyve described these features from the perspective of playing as Arthur, so it isnt exclusive to online. I trust a lot of what we ready and even if only half of it is true, its exciting. If you dont care for it, cool. Just dont tell us what we should or should not get hyped for.

Most or all of them saw just 45 minutes of a game that isn't even finished, though, and a lot of the information seems to have been told to them by Rockstar devs, not actually experienced. I love a good hype train, but do take all this preview info with at least one grain of salt. The claims about how advanced the NPCs are should especially be considered as perhaps just fantasy - that has been in previews of Rockstar games going back literally to San Andreas on the PS2 (I distinctly remember hearing this same idea about that game, that NPCs would have a whole daily routine and you could follow them around as they did their work day thing and then went home to sleep at night... boy, was THAT not at all true). It's not just Rockstar either. A lot of good developer intentions end up on the scrap heap as they realize they can't make something work right, or it will take more time than they have to deliver it. Sometimes their designs even are finished but get in the way of good gameplay - a rather well-known example is that enemy AI was intentionally dumbed down in The Last Of Us because the more evolved behavior they initially wrote was confusing and frustrating players, as enemies flanked you and worked as a team, and players just wanted them stupidly sitting behind cover waiting to die, like they do in most games. (That's the classic example of "what players say they want and what they actually want aren't always the same thing.")

I would advise just a smidge of caution, but I also don't think full-bore cynicism is required. Enjoy the hype, imagine all the possibilities, but also don't be too disappointed or throw a fit when the game doesn't meet all of your wildest expectations. A couple of these very cool-sounding features will probably be toned down or scrapped - that's gaming.

Rewatching Magnificent 7 remake ahain and wow doea this give me RDR2 vibes. Even the way the opening town looks, the villian team just says RDR2..watching it all i can say is that would be cool in Rdr2.

Reading the interviews and considering they've been working tirelessly to completely reinvent the AI system and the player's connection to the world, I highly doubt it'd be an afterthought or toned down significantly to allow other features to shine. This level of immersion and depth of the artificial intelligence seems like one of the major selling points of this game after reading all the previews multiple times. They even admitted they didn't do this feature full justice in any of their previous titles and now was the time to really go all out on it so I don't doubt for a second whatever was said in those previews.

I hope you're right. The immersion factor matters more to me in a Red Dead game than almost anything else, and what they are describing sounds very immersive. I hope it's real.

Story mode did get DLC though. I remember getting the monster truck with one of DLCs in story mode. Also the Valentine's Day stuff and some other DLCs which added weapons and vehicles.

Seems like they didn't lie but people's expectations were too high maybe.

The original Red Dead Redemption was far more immersive to me than GTA V's single player so I have really high hopes.

There will be a NBA 2K and WWE 2K title this year. I wouldn't worry. As for the front cover athletes that is yet TBA.

When you talk about things like dampening expectations and not buying into hype, it all comes down to this: the group of people who read an article that plainly says one thing but then they take it and stretch it out over many things and then instead of saying "you know I don't think this would happen but it would be cool if it did." Say something else to the effect of "this is how it is. I know it." Will always be that way, and they'll always be disappointed no matter what you give them.

I think however this forum (with the exception of the occasional few.) aren't that way at all. We're just a group of people who all enjoy the same thing: discussion and the sharing of ideas. We like to share in the excitement of finally learning what the game might actually be like after months of waiting, and then extrapolating from that. Sure things some things might get cut. Things may also be added too. That's life, and if we can't share that experience and be content that we had the chance to we may as well not even be gamers.

NBA 2k is Take Two's main non GTA related money maker. BLOOD just stop

C'mon man. You, and Rockstar, know what people were expecting when they said single player DLC. It means new missions - new playable content, a new or expanded narrative. Not "here's a monster truck."

They never said what type of DLC it would be though. A DLC can be anything they want it to be

Also...

https://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/article/51955/GTA-Online-Update-Free-Deathmatch-Race-Creators-this

GTAV Story Mode Updates. For those ready to jump back into the story of Grand Theft Auto V, we have big plans for substantial additions in 2014 continuing Michael, Franklin and Trevor's action, mayhem and unexpected adventures in Southern San Andreas.

They said updates I'm beating a dead horse here I used to argue about this everyday here lol. Updates. Not DLC but Updates. Those updates probably became the returning player bonus for PS4/XB1

Still DLC. Single player mode got weapons and vehicles.

Current-gen/PC releases also added Director Mode, first person view, and some other stuff that I don't remember to single player.

"Substantial additions continuing Michael, Franklin and Trevor's adventures"

Yeah that definitely doesn't allude to just add on content from GTAO to GTAV, that's clearly pointing towards massive expansions to single player. f*cks sake they even said Story Mode DLC and it was already found in some leaked notes it was actually a thing but got scrapped lol. Beating a dead horse here for sure.

"Substantial additions in 2014..." AKA current-gen release. They even said "Story Mode Updates" this time instead of "DLC" lol because you can't download those features. They knew.

Anyway, they said when they remastered the game they wanted to change so much but they couldn't. The structure of the game didn't allow big changes. They wanted to rewrite police AI and traffic AI.

If the leak document that some forum members and staff saw is to believed then they definitely had bigger plans than what we got when it comes to SP DLC but while they were never gonna confirm the cancellation of what was never announced their communication about exactly what the SP content they teased on the Newswire was, like all their communication these days, bloody awful.
