I’m guessing stranger type missions will blend into this higher level of NPC interaction also. I loved those in RDR, so I’m hoping they make a return.

Will the game do a kind of pause as you select the response youd like to use towards the random npc or would you be able to scroll through the list during gameplay

According to the previews you use the aim button and the background blurs a bit and the face buttons have the interaction options. Its done in a way so that you can walk and interact instead of coming to a dead stop just to say hi.

Not a list. You lock on and the face buttons(Square, Triangle, Circle) become interaction options.

They explained that you can lock onto the NPC and use one of your face buttons (X, A, B, Y) to choose a response type. I dont think it will be a list of responses or actual dialogue text but rather the specific emotion that you respond with such as antagonize, compliment etc

I thought one of the previews mentioned that the screen goes a little blurry when you pick your response.

Im surprised Rockstar hasnt brought up dynamic encounters yet. That was a big selling point for the first game, even GTA V advertised it. Maybe since the game is so focused on AI and immersion in general, Rockstar kinda blended it together in one experience.

Taking dynamic encounters to the next level was literally what they kept saying in every preview last week. That in itself is one of the biggest selling points of the game.

Oh. Makes sense. I never really read any of the interviews, just the summaries.

I don't think Rockstar's goal with the NPC interaction is to make every single NPC you meet have a quest, a piece of information or something useful to give you. That'd be bonkers.

Well, my point exactly.

What I'm saying is that the level of interactivity R* told us about is great and is enough for players to enjoy the game. Making every NPC have a character, a complex backstory, lot's of dialogue lines with relevant information for you and a task to ask would be too much.

Just walking through town and saying hi to someone then antagonizing another, afterwards tackling some poor bloke to the ground then having the sheriff come tell me to remain calm when I have my weapon out is in and itself great. And beyond what R* or any other open world game have previously done .

What kinds of activities do you think NPCs will naturally be doing throughout the world? I hope to see other hunters out hunting and tracking. I hope to see drunks being thrown out of saloons, or groups of people attending a funeral at the local graveyard. I just want to see NPCs naturally engaging in real world sh*t.

I have a serious question I must ask all of yall, why is everyone getting so hyped for all of the features theyre talking about? Especially when weve been burnt on their previous games in some form. I mean I like rockstar games but theyre certainly no messiah of games. Im just wondering why sh*t on other games thinking this ones going to blow it out of the water is a bit much, this game could be a hot mess. All Im saying is wait until they show us what will really be in the game because expecting all of these things in single player may not happen because of online.

Just food for thought. Cheers-:)

Because for me, personally, Rockstar Games and Naughty Dog, are the only developers that make games that I deem worthy of playing.

I have full trust in the Singleplayer being up to par on quality, in terms of writing and game design.

GTA V wasn't a disappointment for me at all, I loved the game for what it was, especially the atmosphere and Design of it.

While I do agree that it had its quarrels, most of them will be addressed in Red Dead Redemption II, I believe, and the information that has been given out, REALLY makes me want to play the game.

Correct me if I am wrong but I don't really know any other instance where R* have burned us before. What's in these previews is what usually gets delivered. I agree that the buying property thing was removed but highly doubt the feature they are constantly talking about will get gimped. It's literally the main selling point of their game. They even mention the shortcomings of their previous games like GTAV and RDR and how the interaction and npcs weren't that advanced.

Cool if you feel that way. I feel like multiple previews from various writers around the world arent lying. These people have seen the game running and theyve seen the features. This isnt coming directly from rockstar but from third party critics. Theyve described these features from the perspective of playing as Arthur, so it isnt exclusive to online. I trust a lot of what we ready and even if only half of it is true, its exciting. If you dont care for it, cool. Just dont tell us what we should or should not get hyped for.

Lol finding that northern most tip of tall trees was it for me. Grizzlies spawning one after the other, spend 15-20min tacking up bear bits and go cash out

Rockstar Games' next title is in 2021. I think it not 5 years cycle anymore, it now 8 years cycle (another reason for a separation (spin-off) from parent company Take-Two).

i remember playing RDR the first time and seeing the drunk stumble out of the saloon and fall over when you first get off the train in Armadilo. I thought yip this is a rockstar game and this is going to be awesome. GTAv did this well too and even gta online like with the workers in your drug warehouses etc. I love that stuff. Because this forum is a specific place made for people who appreciate Rockstar and their games, why would't we get hyped for an eight year awaited game made by our favorite game studio?

Another thing I'm really excited for is that one feature from Max Payne 3 they are going with featuring the kill cam in slow motion when getting certain kills. Wasn't this very briefly shown during the demo as well?

Jesus, why are you rambling on about a "spin off" from Take Two.

Rockstar is a WHOLLY OWNED SUBSIDIARY of Take Two Interactive.

If they WANTED to split off, they would need to drop the Rockstar Name, all associated IPs, the codebase of their previous games and all the tools they use.

There is no logical scenario, in which Rockstar could exist without Take Two Interactive anymore.

So the next title started few months before GTA V release over at Rockstar New England and post-RDR2 release the 8 other studios will join in with finishing the project and so likely a "Rockstar Studios" effort again.

Mas: a spin-off is Take-Two distributing 100% stake in Rockstar Games to it shareholders in a pro rata basis. So for example Take-Two spin off Rockstar Games it will be tax-free and have it own board, assets etc and the parent company will be a namesake entity like Rockstar Interactive Software Corp. or Rockstar International Inc. consisting of Rockstar Games, it studios, and any other assets Take-Two will sell to that company in exchange for cash so they can fold 2K Games, Private Division, and Social Point into the Rockstar name. The Rockstar Games brand is one of the most popular and beloved brand in entertainment as well so new shareholders will even value it more than it former owner Take-Two.

Funny these "you haven't played the game, stop praising it" comments. So, you also haven't, maybe stop criticizing it?

It'd also mean Rockstar would be independent and a very attractive takeover option for a bigger company, which has the potential to cause an exodus of talent and damage the company significantly. Basically, it's not gonna happen and I don't know why you have such a sudden interest in them doing it.

I think it's because the features that are being presented are signs of relief for those who feared Rockstar changed their ways. GTA Online has left some players with knife wounds in their back (I can see why), so it comes as no surprise to expect that RDR2 was going to be another cash grab. But Hearing all these Single Player focused elements really generates hype, especially here, where I presume most users are more into Single Player games

We are only 5 months away and this Game has been in development for 8 years, Now really wouldn't be time to start cutting out or adding sh*t.

I honestly believe that the reception from the fans, after failing to include SP DLC for GTA V, has made rockstar aware of how much players actually wanted SP attention. So I highly doubt Rockstar is going to ignore SP again for Online, If anything all these SP features are a way of showing we haven't forgot.

Plus I think Dan prefers Single Player more than Online anyway, especially since the The Benz ain't here.
