So do you guys have anything planned for page 1899?

Nsfw fan art of dutch and uncle
I thought it was Arthur and Dutch Plot twist: it was uncle who had dutchs' bag all along.

I can't believe y'all finally managed to suck me into this little "charade" shall we call it? Okay and maybe "suck me into" wasn't the best verbiage to use either. Goddamnit. Make the images stop.

Question: how much (in theory) are you ready to pay for a copy of first RDR remade from scratch using the latest version of RAGE?

Max 40$/€, but only if it includes all DLC and really is an upgrade and not just a simple port. But personally I don't need or even want a remaster. I'm fine with RDR as it is, and revisiting that game feels nostalgic and I like if a work of art (which RDR is) keeps being like it was. I'm glad R* doesn't go that remaster route and remaster every game of their portfolio.

This will thankfully never be the case ... R* focuses on their upcoming games and make them the best experience possible ... not wasting time on remastering their old portfolio. That's a good thing!

Back on topic ... I think we might see not just 1, but 2-3 gameplay videos about Red Dead Redemption II leading up to the release. Seeing that they spend the last six years on completely re-doing the AI from scratch and pretty much all the other stuff compared to their previous games, it would only make sense to give us some insight on how this comes into play in RDR2.

Also ... because I've seen this discussed so many times before and even on another forum earlier today ... I for once am so glad that R* focuses on AI, the physics, the gameplay, performance and whatnot with RDR2 ... rather than 'just' aiming to make it the prettiest looking game out there. AI, physics, gameplay, performance, ... it's so much more important than great visuals and well, obviously from what we've seen so far RDR2 looks just amazing!

This should be one of their best - hopefully their best - game yet!

Hell, I paid full price for the GTA V remaster, so if a RDR remaster was to happen, and it included all the DLC, I would gladly pay full price, but since RDR 2 comes out soon, I wouldnt purchase a remastered RDR till later down the line, maybe.

Does the Internet have a vendetta against Rockstar? I've seen a lot of negative comments on social media against them

Simply put, welcome to social media...

People on Reddit speculating that Arthur and co are going to hide in South America from the goverment in the latter part of the story. Since there's an island on the leaked map, it could happend.

This would be awesome. Mexico was hands down the best part of Red Dead Redemption.

I can't wait to see interactions not just outside within the world but in saloons especially. Hopefully we can eavesdrop on a drunk conversation between two NPCs, talk to the bartender, et cetera... I hope we aren't the only one who can start fights in a saloon. I hope NPCs can start trouble with one another (and maybe if you are lucky the saloon turns into a full blown brawl?) :D

I for one am super excited to test this new ai system to the max and see just how far it goes.

I thought of this this morning while having a smoke and my cup of coffee:

What happens if we are riding down a trail and see what appears to be a well dressed man riding in a stagecoach, so we decide to loop back around ride up on him, shoot the driver and the man riding shotgun. Then instead of robbing the man right then and there we take our lasso off the horse, tie him up and bring him to some secluded area, to hold him for a day or two, I wonder if there's some sort of kidnapping mechanic at play where you can get him to give you more money this way instead of just robbing him for what he has in his pocket perhaps you convince him to take you to the bank to get all his money, but then you have to figure out if it's worth letting him live, if you cut him loose he'd go straight to the authorities. If you kill him you have to worry about someone finding the body. So you'd have to hide it up in the Forrest which of course means risking being seen with a dead body on your horse. Which raises more questions.

I doubt that it would be this in depth, but hey if their making this mechanic where you can engage with npcs in all sorts of ways I'd imagine they have to account for all the various actions players can take against them. Otherwise it breaks the illusion which is something they seem dead set on avoiding.

When do Achievements/Trophies usually get leaked? Like a few weeks before launch? Wasn't this the case for GTA V?

Most things I'm looking forward to experience in Redemption in no particular order are the new AI systems, and NPC response and interactions tree, the Dutch gang story and the voice lines of Dutch himself, the weather, the environmental variety and how intelligently animal groups blend together in different regions, plus their behaviors. I already like that description how about killing an animal such as a deer is presented brutally sound and visual wise and is not simply treated as a disposable object. It's like animals have a soul this time so to speak.

Sounds neat, but this is, like, Westworld level of interactivity not the level of current-gen games, even Rockstar-made ones

I mean, it's neural networking stuff we're talking, with a complex AI integrated into game that can adjust NPC behavior using lots of variables.

Though, guesses are NPC would certainly have adequate reactions scripted for kidnapping and other possible interactions

Imagine if you can eavesdrop on two drunk dudes having an argument but they decide to go their separate ways before things get heated. That's the moment when you walk up to one of them and have a contextual interaction where you say something like "hey pard, that dude you were just arguing with? Yeah I just over heard him telling the bartender that you're a Lilly-livered yellow belly, who wouldnt know courage unless'n it came from the bottle and that's why he's been f*ckin your wife for two years right under your nose."

Of course that never actually happened but hey Arthur likes to watch the world burn andnow we definitely got dinner and a show. As the drunk walks over to the unexpecting man revolver in hand.

Again probably way too in depth to actually happen but it's fun to think about.

I transalte the most interest questions of the interview of HobbyConsolas to Rob Nelson.

Can we expect any change in the shooting system and the Dead Eye, respect to the first Red Dead Redemption?

We have tried to improve what we had in the previous game and make it evolve when it makes sense. We have spent a lot of time playing and we realized that it holds up pretty well for what it is. I think we are aware that we have to change the things that people are too used to. You do not want to change simply because of the change, but yes, it has definitely evolved and has more levels and is more faithful. It looks better, it feels better, but it will behave in a familiar way.

And the deaths in slow motion? Do they occur automatically when you make a good shot?

They are dynamic, they appear in a mission or during a fight, but also during the phases in the open world, if you get into trouble with the law or with another band you can wait for them to appear dynamically. They are dynamic, and procedural and they are intelligent and they frame the action based on what you do. You can get very spectacular sequences in ample places where the camera has room to make a broad approach. Everything is because of the consistency of the experience, whether you are in a mission or not. You still feel that you are playing the game, with the same character and seeing the same things: it is the same visual and mechanical language.

Surprise us with an example of how far the persistence in the world of Red Dead Redemption 2 has come?

We are still adjusting how long the effects of your actions in the world will last. It is something that you feel. I think we can leave the animals for a long time, they do not cause too much trouble, and you will see scavengers approaching. If you kill a person, you will see the vultures approach and throw themselves on the corpse, you will also see coyotes approaching and start eating it. But at other times, like in the cities, if you cause problems, you want to be able to escape, you want them to disappear with time, so we have balanced it taking into account what is more practical.

For example, will the ranch we have seen under construction end?

Yes, we have several areas like that. As time passes you will see them evolve. If you are looking for something spectacular, we believe and hope it is amazing how you interact with other beings: people and animals. (...) In GTA V you saw a person sweeping or doing anything and if you bothered them they would release their broom and they left. Or if you behaved in an aggressive way with them, they would run away or be aggressive with you. That is all they could do. We wanted to get something else, so we had to go back to the basics of our system and rebuild it, and that's something that was only possible with the new hardware.

We have grown our teams dedicated to gameplay, animations and Artificial Intelligence to support this improvement (...) basically we allow you to choose anyone and talk to him and interact with them in ways that are not limited to the barrel of your weapon.

Imagine that you lost your horse when you needed one, and you see someone riding on the road. Before, the only way to get on that horse was to shoot the rider, which usually scared the horse and forced you to chase it. We wanted you to be able to ask the rider to stop. Maybe he did not, but if he did then you should be able to ask him to get off the horse. so you can get things from people without resorting to physical harm. (...)

If you are in a town and you approach a person who is sitting and you begin to invade their space, they will not panic and run away, that would be weird. But surely they ask you what you are doing, and if you continue, they will react. If there is someone nearby, that third person may be involved. There's a lot of difference between trying to rob someone in public or grabbing him, and the way the other characters react.
