People sh*t on Ubisoft because of the awful WD downgrade and AC:Unity release, but other than that it's been trying to improve a lot.

Origins has a better open-world than any R* game in my opinion.

i can admit the first watch dogs, bug ridden unity and some other things may have ruined their rep but yea they definitely are trying hard and redeeming themselves! Assassins creed origins took 4 years to make... thats why its so great. I dont want people to bash on either one nor say which is better, i just wanted to know if anyone heard of the discovery tour mode, its extremely cool and i would love if R* added something like it to RDR2 the west is fascinating to me i would love to have a narrator tour about the things they learned to make their game in the first place !

Guys I have to say/ask... do you think rockstar while developing RDR2 has been watching other games and getting inspiration from them too? Like as an example if that leak was correct, one of the new features of dead eye sounded similar to HZD... anyways my point/question is DAMN assassins creed origins is amazing in so many ways and this educational discovery mode of the world has me at a loss for words tbh. People dont even have the right to trash on ubisoft anymore even after this game alone. Their attention to detail is fascinating this time around much like R* so it just gets me thinking... i hope rockstar has seen this idea of discovery tour as cool and innovative because much like egyptian culture, the west is FULL of history and interesting things to see and speak about.. i would love for rockstar to make their own discovery tour no combat mode to just have a tour of the world of RDR2 and the real history behind the guns and historial locations of the game and all that. Im telling yall this is so f*cking cool and i hope rockstar still pays attention to these other ideas that are worth implementing, like the one i just said! It would be so cool to have that as an option, really makes you appreciate the detail just walking through the game which we all know R* started that immense detail route for other developers to come. They would do a feature like this best imo.

I doubt that R* will create something like AC's discovery tour. There's a lot to see in Ancient Egypt but the Wild West in Red Dead? Not much to see here imo. But you're right about the quality of Origins. Amazing game! Ubisoft got criticized a lot over the last few years (rightfully so) but Origins is a masterpiece!

Ahh yeah good point. Its like the west has lots of history but not so much lore i guess you could say? Lore is what makes all the difference like the hieroglyphs, rituals, etc of egypt. The closest thing i could think of with extensive wild west lore would be from the native tribes, their culture and spiritual sides of stuff. But yeah its definitely a great idea, i have no doubt theyll figure something innovative out to show how amazing their new world is. Even if there is no separate no combat mode or narrator ill still go into RDR2 like i shoulda the first time with red dead. Walk sometimes with no gun just look at the world created for the detail R* is known for :D take your time

"improve" ? Did you see far cry games ? In this new one they didn´t bother to improve even animations, guns , sounds and so on ... It´s just reskined like the others...

I am 100% sure you did not play the prevous Far Cry games.

The animations and sounds are indeed different, just because you could not tell the difference between them on YT doesn't mean you are right.

I'm currently reading Blood Meridian and, oh boy, it's incredible. McCarthy's vision of the old West is incredible. Hope RDRII will have some of these vibes in it

I think this guy does a good job in analyzing why Rockstar's open worlds stand out, with a bit of humor.

People really hate Ubisoft around here. Ubisoft really has some good games I've had a lot more fun in Origins and Watch dogs 2 then I ever did with GTA V are they perfect no but they do show flashes of potential.

I borrowed Origins from my cousin a couple of days ago and as someone who absolutely loves Black Flag (and other ACs), my first impressions weren't that good. There's just something about the game that doesn't grab me like other ACs do. I dunno, maybe i should give it a bit more time. I finished replaying BF's story a couple of days ago yet i'm still playing it to this day, close to getting 100% completion. I like Ubisoft. Hell, i even enjoyed Watch Dogs. But they're games are certainly not what they could be. If only they had more time to put in more effort. I'll definitely buy the Rogue remaster that's coming this Tuesday (some people already have it though.) There is a lot of reusing assets and such in their games as well. It's even present in Origins. A lot of SFX etc etc.

I respect your opinion but, correct me if I'm wrong here.. Are you telling me that AC:Origins has a better open world than Redemption?

Matter of fact, this PS4 copy of Black Flag, you know what? It belongs to my cousin as well. Because i originally played the game on PC. What stupid excuse do you have to come up with now? You're a fan of Origins? Fine. I just said i'm not a fan of what i've experienced so far. No need to be an ass about it. I said that i liked all the older ACs and i do enjoy Ubisoft's games.

Haven't played 2 but the driving mechanics in the first one were terrible, everyone can agree on that and every single person on the internet has pointed it out as well. I got kinda used to after a while i guess. Heard the second game is a huge improvement though.

Red Dead Redemption is my favourite R* game and I would say yes! But RDR is a game from 2010 so comparing it with Origins - a game that came out 7 years later, isn't really fair.

Ubisofts open worlds have always been a big seller for me, Origins is no exception, the 2 year dev cycle it had definitely shows, the amount of details in that game is astonishing. I hope RDR 2 had that level of detail and "polish"

(heres hoping the "polish" for RDR isnt just how to implement micro dlc)

Wow! I know RDR came out 8 years ago, but still this is a huge statement. I haven't played Origins yet , so lets see if I feel the same way after completing it.

Btw.. Nice signature :p lol

Yeah, it's much improved in 2 but still far from great. I always found it more fun to ride on top of the car and hack drive it instead.

I tend to enjoy Ubisoft games for the most part but I haven't paid full price for one since I got burned by Rogue. With the Xbox I tend to wait for Microsoft to do their big seasonal sales. Ubisoft almost always participates and you can generally get their latest game for half off.

The history of the west is so young in comparison to Egypt. The West has very little recorded history to offer because human civilization has only been building in the west since settlers arrived a few hundred years ago. I mean the natives have interesting history before settlers, but not to the extent of Egyptians with their pyramids and mass civilizations.

They called it Origins because all humans originated and evolved from North Africa. The history is SOOO rich there. Dating back thousands on thousands of years in comparison to Western history which only dates back a few hundred. That's what is so cool about European, African and Asian countries. Their history is so much deeper than the history of the US and Canada. Before settlers arrived in the west, people weren't building any extravagant buildings or pyramids or establishing mass civilizations like they did thousands of years ago in other continents.

So yeah, some things would be cool with a tour mode in RDR, but it just wouldn't go as deep as Origins went. There's just not THAT much to show for our history here in the West.

Thanks. Nice. Good to know. I've been thinking about getting 2 for a while. I really enjoyed Rogue. One of the most underrated in the franchise imo. Its' gameplay is basically BF but i really like the story and the setting is nice as well. It is shorter than usual so i understand what you mean. There's a whole lot of fan service too. Waiting for it to drop on PS4 in a couple of days.

Is Rockstar the only company that uses motion capture on horses? I've never seen another game that had drive at least similar to RDR.

Yeah, it was mostly the length that made me feel cheated. It's maybe half as long as a typical AC game. It was easily their best and most original idea for a story and it just ended up feeling extremely rushed. I loved the way a random Assassin would attack you while you're out and about too.

It'd be cool if RDR 2 could incorporate something like that. Just random, bad ass, bounty hunters that'll pop up from time to time, similar to the Phylakes in AC Origins. You can either choose to avoid them or take them on. It'd help give the sense that you're truly a wanted outlaw without the intrusion of always have a Wanted Level.

I think there's plenty of Old West history. Hell, Deadwood alone would make for an awesome virtual tour. I mean, people take tours of it in real life and it looks nothing like it did back in the day.
