Watched some GOW gameplay + its ending on youtube ... not sure why this game got so much praise ... its mediocre at best.

Turns out you can fully judge games based on a few minutes of gameplay and by watching the ending out of context and without story buildup. Who knew?

A bland ass FP is going to have rdr2 looking like far cry. If they implement some kind of First person i would like to see it innovated a bit with more creative depth. Because it does nothing to improve or better the experience in GTA imo.

Far Cry 5 did a great job though, Rockstar certainly isn't the only great developer anymore. Hell the last few years they have become quite arrogant to say the least.

 

It is not a bad thing to learn from others, you can't be the best in everything all the time.

 

I hope Rockstar might look at the things Far Cry 5 did, because imo FC5 did a better job at being GTA in rural areas than GTA V.

I had a reply here praising Far Cry 5 and while it is a good game I really like to end that about a third or halfway through the game I noticed the story was not really that good.

You're not the only one thinking that about the story of GTA V. I share the same exact sentiment about the story and characters.

 

That's why I'm here, looking for a more mature story experience, in the world of Redemption 2.

GTA V's Story was a HUGE let down. For people who have been true fans for the past 15 years you'll understand that after playing through all the games multiple times to 100% completion, GTA V just doesn't have the spark. It was a rushed story and the ending, a TOTAL mess.

I mean wiping out a bunch of enemies in the final mission, it seemed rushed how we just knew where they all were at once, total BS.

Its almost like Rockstar just CTRL clicked everything we needed to clean up, then just clicked "go".

Not to mention the choices at the end of the game.

Almost every character in GTA V was incredibly annoying (Maybe it was intentional because it was based of Los Angeles) so I didn't care what happened to any of them.

 

Also there was too much focus on the government stuff. We get it Rockstar, The government are the biggest criminals. No need to tell us that for the hundredth time.

Its being praised because its a prime example of a well-crafted single player experience that isn't infested with micro transactions, something that is scarce these days.

They're not even squeezing. They don't have to. GTA Online sales and recurrent consumer spending are still raining money on TTWO like a Taiwan monsoon. Every year, a new generation of kids gets hooked. GTA Online may be the gift that never stops giving.

 

So, TTWO doesn't even need RDR2. Even if RDR2 is successful beyond imagination, it still won't pay back as much return on resources as another tacked-on GTA Online DLC.

 

 

PS:

 

The GTAV world is a masterpiece. It deserves to make all the money it's made. But this makes the corporation risk-averse and lazy. New cities, new stories, new games are just an unproductive detour from the Online juggernaut.

The only impressive thing about Far Cry 5 has been the landscape. The dialog is bland, the NPC facial animations are weird and their facial movements/expressions rarely match up with the words theyre saying. Theres only probably 20 original NPCs in the game which gets weird after you spend 10hrs playing. Overall it isnt a bad game but there are more places than not that if you were to compare it to say, RDR1, it cant compete. Bizarre in a way but damn does the landscape look fantastic
