Rockstar are notoriously tight lipped when it comes to their games. This is not how most publishers/developers operate but it is how Rockstar operate and it has been for some time. They give very little to nothing away until the last 5-6 months or so till launch which is when they start to open up, with the last 1-2 months being something of a scorched Earth approach to marketing when they have promo art all over the world both physical and digital, press previews and enough trailers and TV spots to make even Marvel blink. It's how they work, it's happening with RDR2 and if their track record is anything to go by it has absolutely no connection with the quality of the game, it's just Rockstar being Rockstar.

There is a very big part of me thinking that R* probably (proooobably) delayed the game in order to be able to launch RDR2 and RDRO at the same time,unlike GTA V.

 

And they are also probably trying their best to make sure servers will be able to hold the influx on gamers coming on the release day.

 

I mean just imagine how many more people would try RDRO if it came exactly wtih RDR2.Even the ones who despise,or eventually got tired of GTA O,will still try it once or twice just for curiosity,which means more people exposed to sharkcards..

I remember during a particular A&A (when they did them) they mentioned "large gaps" of anything related to their games and would continue to do so. thats true i remember seeing that myself, if anyone needs reassurance go look for their asked and answered q&a's.. youll see!! Oh and datboi thats a good point too i was thinkin that myself. All this time is likely going into proper servers, 4k&HDR.. first person, story and online... this is gonna be a huge ass game. Of course it takes so long more than we can even fathom

We're 6 months away from October. And by the way, a game that's been delayed twice gives us every right to worry about another delay. The same people who were confident that the game would come in fall 2017 are the same ones who were confident it would come in spring 2018 as well. October 26th is no different than Fall 2018. As long as marketing hasn't started. We have a right to be worried. Don't forget that we've been waiting for 2 months now since the "coming weeks" announcement. April has to be the deadline for marketing to start.

The deadline will be the first week of May, when T2's earnings call is approaching in the 3rd week of May. Marketing has to start weeks earlier.

The reason I say we should calculate by month is cause marketing should be at an end by the end of September. GTA V got it's launch trailer on August 29th. That was pretty much the end of its marketing campaign.

Now that we've got another E3 before release I can't wait to see if they go for another Figueroa Hotel mural! Love watching them paint these things and checking for updates every day as they go up. We'll probably get many smaller ones going up around NYC and other places like they did for V including the cover/box art.

Yeah there's no way they go into that call with the good ol' "Rockstar will announce more when they're ready". We either get something soon or we get bad news right before the conference call.

As far as I can remember RDR was the only one. Every other delay had a "spring, summer, or fall" tag right?

 

I'll admit I was one of those who believed (albeit half-heartedly but I still believed) the fall 2017 and spring 2018 date.
