The whole gameplay series was probably a thing because they wanted to market the game as much as they could. It was a new thing for them back then and they wanted to let people know what the game was all about and what they should expect so yeah.

If they're doing multiple gameplay videos like RDR (which I doubt), then we could see some gameplay much sooner than we all expect.

i love lunch and you just made me realize something positive! So even before gta 5 and all that R* always does 6 month marketing campaigns. Everytime really.. RDR was no different. November-May is 6 months. April-October is 6 months. Gta 5 march-september is 6 months.. WOW I cracked their code guisee!!!

R* must really want to make sure they have every detail finalized before putting info out. I would have expected a GI cover last fall when they still had Spring in mind like GTA V's marketing schedule.

 

Just a side note when GTA V's cover announcement was revealed it was a month before the issue came out. The lead editor posted that he was in NY to check out the December cover game, GTA V. Wonder if they will allow a tease like that this time around.

I agree^ as a creator/perfectionist musically i know how the creative process on every detail gets, can be stressful. Rockstar arent assholes it seems like its on purpose to some but really they are creating and finishing the game up. They want things to be concrete not changing, they have said that before and I get it entirely. Of course they have everything all planned out thats why it seems like coincidence when somethin happens

I don't think so. One Trailer #3 in May makes more sense.

It's pretty much confirmed now that Arthur Morgan is the one and only playable protagonist. Though there are theories you can take control of some gang members during specific missions.

What really happened this morning

 

Rockstar Games New York

 

An employee is finally typing up the write up for the trailer on the newswire and is about to hit enter when Sam Houser comes running in and stops him.

 

"STOP! STOP DONT YOU DARE!"

 

"I thought we were supposed to release info today? Was there a change in plans?"

 

"Relase info today? Are you insane? We'll never release info. I told everyone at the meeting yesterday no more Red Dead Redemption 2 info just more GTA Online hyped up behind fake Red Dead Redemption 2 leaks."

 

The Rockstar employee is nervous as he had just sent out a bunch of emails to the gaming media telling them that there would be something today.

 

"There's something I should tell you boss...I've already sent out emails to IGN, Gamespot, and Gameinformer."

 

"YOU DID WHAT?" Sam breaks a desk in half then calms down. "We can still fix this. Get IGN on the phone. We can control this tell them that what they were sent was false information."

 

"Alright but what about the fake leaks we have from our marketing department all over the internet?"

 

"Don't worry about that I'll be enjoying reading the angry outrage from our fans online on my flight to London later today." Sam was attending an event in London it was actually a hookers and coke party but disguised as a secret Rockstar event it had to be in London because his dealer couldn't find a way to bring the coke through customs so he was stuck in London.

 

"IGN doesn't believe us and is going to publish the story anyway."

 

"Give me the f*cking phone." The employee hands Sam the phone and he starts to get into a heated argument with the folks at IGN. "Listen here all of that sh*t you heard about us releasing info today is completely false. Don't believe me? I'll fly over to San Francisco personally and make sure that you all don't get invited to any of our events in the future. Good...I'm glad we've come to an understanding."

 

Sam looked at his watch he was going to miss his flight.

 

"sh*t. Tell Dan he can handle Gamespot and Game Informer I have a flight to catch."

 

He runs out of the building and into a limo that was waiting for him outside. A driver opens the door for him and he sits down relieved. Sitting next to him was Strauss Zelnick. Neither of them spoke for a while but Strauss watched Sam as he stared out of the window at the New York Skyline.

 

"You did well."

 

Sam ignored him and continued looking at the skyscrapers. Strauss knew that this was a man that cared deeply about not releasing info. Choosing instead for his company to remain silent during the peak of the marketing period. This wasn't a time for words but for reflection. They had trusted each other for so long as well as been at odds with each other at times. But they got through their differences and were able to earn a fortune from micro transactions.

 

Their partnership was put into question. Could he trust a suit? Could the suit trust a company that rarely releases games or info. But it worked together they have achieved success, growth, and profit. A relationship that other developers and publishers in this industry would die for.

 

The limo drove into Newark, New Jersey. At the airport they pulled into a private hangar where a plane was waiting to take Sam to London. They exited the limo and walked together.

 

"Sharkcards have made us rich men and will continue to make us richer. I am privileged to have worked with you for so long."

 

Sam nodded with a smile and Strauss walked him towards the stairs as the planes propellers started moving. Sam walked up the stairs and looked at Strauss one more time and finally broke his silence."May the microtransactions guide us through the darkness!"

 

"May the Microtransactions guide us through the darkness!" Strauss responded and watched as Sam waved goodbye to him and entered the plane. Strauss stepped back and watched as the plane left the hangar and flew into the air. Now it was his turn it was time to take the next step and begin the new era of microtransactions.
