At this point I want patch notes as much as I want content. There's so, so much BS in the game right now. Don't know why it takes them so long to fix things. I had a Hunter get affected by the armour glitch the other day. Like, wtf? Isn't that glitch a year or so old by now? There so many others you could write a book about it, but you get the point.

 

If there was an update that fixed even half of the really bad ones, then I wouldn't even be bothered what content - if any even - it had.

1 while the gtao team is not spearheading rdr2 development members were temporarily reassigned to provide additional manpower. Every company, not just studio pulls this. To think differently is sheer ignorance.

2) yes some halfass races that are inferior to user created content and a minuscule number if vehicles that are outmatched and overpriced compared to other vehicles on their classes. Yeah no to call it underwhelming is an understatement.

1) sorry, you are correct, the dev teams were consolidated for RDR2, https://rockstarintel.com/2018/05/04/red-dead-2-consolidate/.  which makes AH all the more impressive in my book!

 

2) as I said, race updates, even the og CS, are usually lackluster, I agree the advanced flags are sh*te, well actually I think they are good but all vehicles should have them, but I digress...  

 

and 3)  y'all complain when every new car obsoletes and older one, then when they give you options, with better customization, some competitive, some not so much, y'all still complain...

When they don't spend the half an hour at any time over the last 4 years to add and make all the games colours available at LSC people have the right to complain. It's not just that but it an example of how stupid this company is and it's that in grained stupidity that will cause many to stay away from red dead.

Looks like what allot of us predicted with them slowing down updates in time for RDR2 looks to be happening. 

 

This is for the best. Wouldn't you rather they start saving/forming new ideas for the next game? Instead of half assing them into a 4 year old game that's just going to feel stale again a week or two after because it's a 4 year old game?

 

The same way people got excited for R* changing their twitter picture to red after years of silence on the rdr front I'd imagine they'd want to replicate that feeling for a GTAVi reveal. Not to say we all wouldn't be hyped if they showed the logo for the next gta right now but you could imagine that the hype would be amplified tenfold after sometime not seeing anything gta related on our social media mainly talking about gta online updates.

I respectfully disagree, simply because two games aren't mutually exclusive when one is JUSt being updated once few months, and these updates are being developed by just a handful of people. It's obvious the main team moved to work on RDR2, and if R* is indeed planning to focus on Bully 2 next, like some speculations/leaks suggest, they're going to move to it in the near future as well. That rotation must continue due to the simple fact R* has to keep releasing new projects if they want to sustain their workers and naturally earn sh*tload of cash on new games.

 

Still, though, GTA Online generates them some revenue, and it was proven Shark Card sales were great this summer, and After Hours, as terrible as it was, attracted more people than Doomsday Heist, which was also terrible, but on top of that had way higher entry point and its artifficially buffed difficulty made it less appealing to any self respecting regular players, which can't be said about other DLCs. Abandoning the ship and shutting the game down would be a huge mistake financially, because RDR2 doesn't have the very same target audience as GTA Online. I think at this point there's no one who'd say this game's quality dropped significantly after I/E, which proves R* just wants to milk it, stale or not. And it works for them.

I think they'll go back to updates like High Life and IGG that are primarily vehicles, no new game mechanics or businesses. Updates that are just a dozen or so new vehicles, most of them drip-fed, and a few cheap adversary modes. This requires only a minuscule development team to make and if some of the vehicles are expensive and desirable it'll continue to sell shark cards.

The next game I was referring to was GTAO2. For better or worse they seem to have used allot of ideas throughout the years of updates we've had. My worry is that we run the risk of getting rehashes of ideas in the next online the same way all the different businesses are just the same thing with a different coat of paint. My hope is that the similarity of the last few updates is less because they've genuinely run out of ideas and more because they're withholding good ones for GTAO2. 

 

I don't think anyone is thinking of rdrO as a longterm replacement. The way I look at it is like a Relay race. GTAV was first up and was strong enough to have serious mileage, while GTAO was receiving its big updates RDR2 was stretching getting ready to grab the Baton. When the time does come I'd imagine RDR2 won't have the legs Gta does but depending on how far along GTAVI is it probably won't have to, even less so if bully 2 is also on the way. RdrO might not attract the majority of the gta base longterm but I'd imagine a decent amount will bleed in allowing them to still make a decent amount while they prep for the real money maker GTAO2

 

I think some of you are forgetting they're soon to be selling a new full priced game that happens to be one of this years most anticipated. If their GTAO revenue starts to dip I doubt they'd be too worried and at this point.

- dripfeed seems to be over (there are some uncrunchy liveries and shirts and stuff, butt maybe to stay in the files forever and never see the light of los santos)

GTA Online makes T2 money, still. They wont stop support until it stops raining cash on them. RDR2 release wont make a difference, T2 are money hungry and will demand R* continue updates - GTA support didn't stop when T2 released Mafia III (or any other game they have published in the last 5 years), other than R* being the dev, what makes RDR2 so special that T2 will say "You know what, we have enough money now, let's make it stop"?

 

I suspect we will have a December update of something. There is still a lot of content that's unreleased, a lot of ideas and a lot of people who can produce content for Rockstar - it's not like there's a shortage of people wanting to work at Rockstar, programmers etc. are ten a penny these days.

 

I'd guess that December update will be just a bunch of new cars, similar to what we already have. Some new clothes, similar to what we have, possibly some aircraft, fixes to a few of the bugs that caused Rockstar the biggest issues (speedo custom mines, akula lockon etc.) but nothing too substantial.

 

If push come to shove, they always have the indoor arena to just drop any time they want. They have casino based game play they could easily add (not necessarily the casino and betting - let's not go there).

 

Lester still has that upgrade to the phone's camera to give us too - you know, the info from the terrorbyte but on the phone. New drones easy to add.

 

Rockstar could throw something together in a couple of weeks if they needed to. RDR2 isn't going to slow progress of updates. And once it's shown that it's not going to be as big as GTA Online the focus will shift again.

This is spot on. Online feels quiet right now but Rockstar can bring it back into the spotlight whenever it wants in the coming months. 

 

If anything, they benefit from slow periods. People play other games, then when they come back to enjoy the updates, they buy cash because they haven’t been grinding.

If the Bully 2 being the next game rumors are true then yeah, I don't see Online going away for awhile. You know they won't reveal GTA VI until well after Bully 2, it just wouldn't make sense business wise. I love Bully but it's not as big and popular as GTA and RDR are..... and if Online is still making money then they won't stop until it's time to hype up GTA VI!

 

It'd be pretty cool if they gave us rubber balls as a tie-in gift like they did with RDR 2. I'd love to throw rubberband balls at other players

GTAO would need a massive update with fresh gameplay content to not fade into obscurity when rdr2 and such release. But will GTAO get the update? My guess is no, nothing revolutionary atleast. Probably just some recycled business mission formulas and more vehicles with homing missiles attached to them how creative

I don't know how you feel about the game atm, but it's dead for me at least until new stuff gets released, probably gonna start playing it in December again, and not anytime soon before that.
