thats the mentality of this business, they dont hold off the pc versions because they cant create the console version and the pc version at the same time, and release all 3 versions at the same time, they hold off to create a double dip!

 

people are more likely to go out and buy a copy of the game for console.

 

they did it with V and would do it again with rdr2.

bruh, I know exactly why the PC version comes later, I'm just saying that a large chunk of the GTaO playerbase won't be playing RDR2 at launch...

yup, and I can see them doing that, but RDR2 has zero bearing on whether or not we get an update before Dec, the target demographics have little overlap, plus most people are capable of playing more than one game at a time...  (not at the exact same time ofc, but a few hours on one, then a few hours on another), plus, as I said, a large chunk of GTaO players are on PC...

The vast majority of GTAO players are casual players, who play many other games. The overlap is huge. People who like good games will be playing RDR2. Rockstar wants people to buy RDR2. They aren't going to promote GTAO when they want people to buy their newest game.

Irrelevant. Rockstar wants the initial sales.

Sure, but that is just a fraction compared to the amount of console players. Console games are where the money is.

probably not, but I fail to see how the release of a full game will in any way affect content updates for a constantly updating online game...

lack of new content in gtao + R* teasing with their new shiny toy, increases the chances of selling copies of the game.

 

its all part of the business strategy.

Yes but I think updates from now on will be significantly less impressive than we have seen before. No more big updates. That ended with Doomsday.

theres no doubt the updates would continue, its confirmed by zelnick.

 

they maybe not as beefy as lets say dooms day, but im sure we would still get vehicles packs and stuff like that like in the old days.

Imo R* will still release big updates in the future.

So i think we will get maybe next year a 3rd Heist update.

Maybe that will re-use more cut SP DLC content.

Bc there should be a lot of assets from that left.

What are your thoughts on this

i think it would all depend on the success of rdo...

 

if rdo takes off and makes them a lot of money, future gtao updates could be more simple, like the updated from back in the day.

 

if rdo doesnt make the numbers they want, i can see them releasing another big update like heist.

The 25% boost in production for nightclub goods a few weeks ago was pretty lucrative if you played a lot that week and took care to offload your stuff regularly. Think I sold three or four loads of roughly 1.2 million a piece.

A true GTA old-timer should remember that there was a very dry period in Online history and after Heists we started getting big updates. It will be extremely easy for R* to just roll back to that MO because it does not require anything. Online will still be afloat.

No news and no leaks on next (if any?) DLC. I like it. Quiet. But I really miss the leaks from Yan, stuff to look forward to. Guess it will be quiet for some time as Red Dead Something gets all the attention.

 

So, as a PC player, making the best of it. Just chilling with my Futo collection. Taking a long break from the old money grind.

 

Hope we get an update for the Creator next, a mission creator of some sort. There are still tons of stuff to secure the Shark Cards sales and profit.

It depends on comparison. If rdo makes their expected profit margins. But gtao has its profit margins unaffected then theyll still support gtao.

 

It stands to reason that the gtao updates since ssassasasasasasassaa has been underwhelming was that staff was focusing on rdr2. Deadlines were coming up and it was crunch time. Once rdo releases then staff will be reallocated to gtao.

They can get by with that right now because they actually offer new features from the start like the Nightclubs, Heists 2.0, Gun Running, and the introduction to CEO/MC stuff.

Updates like the Racing updates don't really generate as much hype as the other ones....

Well I wasn't my plan. I regretted it right away, pretty much. Had I gotten that first livery I probably wouldn't have cancelled. But I'd still feel regret for wasting 100 euro on a game I'm not even sure I'll enjoy.

underwhelming? first, the GTaO team did not work on RDR2, second, SSASSS had a lot of good cars, content wise it had more than the previous March's CS:SVC, it even had about as much as the og CS, all race updates are a bit smaller, and third, do you have any idea how much work went in to AH, the VO and motion capture for all the DJs and cutscenes, the vehicles weren't much but we got several large interiors and a new business, on top of the DJs...

 

and I have no doubt the future updates might be smaller, but I think there will always be 2 big ones a year, summer and winter, until VI anyway...
