It could be earlier, remember, rockstar have different groups working on different projects, like one group is working on gta online, the other is working on RDR2 etc.....

very unlikely to see anything for gtao before or right after rdr.

they want rdr to get all the attention.

Adding VI map? To what? V?

VI won't be part of the current GTAO, otherwise the suicide rate of R*'s programmers would go thru the roof... When VI will release, it will be 5+ years of broken coding and stuff piled on top of each other in V. Why bother trying to fix an old game and possibly break even more stuff when you can fix core stuff with a new one? Just look at the curb boosting fix they're trying, if they keep the same engine for VI, but updated, they can get rid of it completely and cars won't feel slower because they'll all have the same fix.

New game, new start, all the old crap behind, including all the modded/glitched money.

You mean like Cunning Stunts: Special Vehicle Circuit? I'd be all for it as long as they add new cars.

I think a big car update is coming, but not until November/early December.  We've had a bunch of moneymaking updates in a row, with the latest focused on passive income.  We're overdue for a "stuff rich people buy" update.  It makes sense to have a theme around our business mogul characters splurging on mansions, new garages, and fancy cars.

The last few updates have had things that were like previews of coming content.  If that holds, I expect to see a lot of tuners, muscle, and off-roaders.  Maybe an MC clubhouse-esque hangout/garage for some Fast & Furious activities, with different themes and options for the various car cultures.  Y'know, something like the I/E warehouse but for PVs, like we've been requesting for years.  And if we're lucky, some actual mansions with posh garages and some unique activities.

They could easily just save what assets we have... import that data when we transfer into what will be 6. All of the current functions and mechanics will be streamlined to better function and there will be new source code for them to violate over a decade

it would be really really hard task, but i think some how gtao v1(current) and gtao v2 would exist in the same universe and we would be able to travel between both places.

our assets would be bound to los santos to prevent issues with the new map, but i'd be surprised if they dont make this happen, just like i'd be surprised if they dont start selling gtao as a stand alone game like a year before the next gta is set to be released.

I've noticed how the wall safe from the nightclubs, even when at the 70k limit, isn't full yet. There's the entire upper section which remains completely empty, with our money solely on the middle part. I was thinking, could that mean that our club earnings will possibly be increased, maybe doubled? Or that it just could be an increase in the max amount of money that can be had there?

It will probably be nothing, but it's just something that I was thinking about :p

"Easily" you say? That quite literally could not be further from the truth. The way base code works, and the fact that much of GTA Vs base code being written to and on an ancient source (10 year old hardware)? No. Not easy. It would be far more trouble than its worth at this point. The original OP was absolutely right in that R* will much more than likely just start over with VI and the next iteration of GTAO

Ok let me put this in English

On R* servers they have the save file

"Has property X y z"

"Has face code x yz"

"Property X has vehicles XYZ in it"

Hey have corresponding assets in gta6 online but in the gta6 code which has been streamlined like the mc and CEO vehicle summons working on the same mechanic as opposed to different ones.

It's like remastering the game but as opposed to giving it a new paintjob they're remaking it from scratch.

Almost every game with an "import from previous game" has a mechanic like this where even if the sequel has a different engine all together than the 1st save game imports are still possible.

And that is what they will do if they follow through with their promise of gta6 carrying the same gtao but with gta6 assets

I'm really not trying to be argumentative, but I'm also very well aware of the process, believe me. It just isn't as easy as you're making it sound, especially not when it comes to actual execution and making it mesh into a cohesive, polished and working piece of software/game. Old code does NOT always just transfer over to existing games smoothly, and especially not in an "easy" fashion, and it's certainly not an easy process. It can and often does create far more trouble than i'ts worth, and that's why 95% of AAA game devs will tell you it's an absolute pain.

Now to be clear, I'm not saying it cannot be done, because yes it can. I'm only saying it's long, tedious and difficult work and R* likely won't bother... but hey, in a few years I guess we'll all know for sure ☺

Well that's one of the reasons they remake it from scratch and work together.

It's common knowledge that the different updates are made by different teams with little to no communication. And therefore the updates can be considered officially endorsed mods for the game and the code entropy is more or less conflicting parts of the code. A longer lasting and terminal case of what I call "mod survival."

Let's take vehicle summon methods;

Pegasus, MC, CEO, Special vehicles, Mechanic, Aircraft, etc

That Charlie foxtrot of systems can be streamlined by a coordinated team to where half of them are summoned through the same system.

Advanced handling flags can easily be applied to all cars.

I know I'm not a programmer but I know like a game of digital jenga it's easier to fix these issues when you hit ctrl+alt+del and start over with a clean slate as opposed to pinpointing all conflicts.

@thepiebaker

Well look man, I don't wanna argue like I said, nor do I want to keep up the back and forth any more, as we'll likely get in trouble (maybe DM me if you really want ☺). But I just have to point out that once again, and I'm really sorry, but you're just simply mistaken - particularly about the part where you say the updates are made by different teams with little to no communication. Not entirely sure where you heard that, but its not at all standard for the game industry, much less R*. That's actually the exact opposite of how R* does their updates with GTAO.

R* North has a small "skeleton" crew that works on the updates (and it's been this way for almost 18 months now, since production/development ramped up so heavily on RDR2), and they're all in CONSTANT communication. Game development in general takes constant communication, between all the individual depts, too. Even with teams like R* when they're making a huge game involving all their respective studios (like they've done with RDR2 for the last couple years), they're always communicating. Always.

But hey, I don't wanna get into trouble so maybe we should just agree to disagree(?) And just to let you know, I'm not pulling what I'm saying here from thin air; I worked at a major game studio here in California for several years, so I do have some real world experience in this area 👍😎

I enjoy the optimism of people who think that you won't start from the bottom in the next GTA:O. I mean it would be boring AF to already own a whole heap of stuff, and R* would make less money so it makes sense......

No wait, it makes no sense that R* would give us anything.

Hmm - if one level is regular club cash, another is based on various warehouse product sales, then ...I'd guess the top section might be related on the various jobs you do with the Terrorbyte (considering many of those are robberies at different distinct locations - Pac Standard, LifeInvader offices, Vangelico, etc.).

As for updates ending for GTAO, as always, it'd be a shame, considering how much logical stuff they could still do with it (and could have done already, if not for doubling down on sci-fi gimmicks and the like). Considering the disparities in what R*'s added over the years, the game feels ...incomplete, in a way - it'd be really good for them to balance things out, or just tick some more community wishlist boxes, before calling time completely.

Can we see mansions in December?

Personally I doubt we'll ever get mansions. I think it would be hard for R* to live up to player expectations in this.

However, I do agree with what another poster said about how we're due for a "stuff rich people buy" update. It just feels to me like the Nightclub marks the end of the line for adding new income-generating properties. So I think the next update will be something along the lines of an Ill-Gotten Gains part 3 (though probably not with that name). Luxury cars, both supers and classics, and maybe a new luxury aircraft or boat, too.

And if revamped cars like the Prairie, Penumbra, Futo etc are well-received and sell well, I think R* will give another batch of old vehicles the same treatment of new liveries and mods.

I expect an after hours part 2 update, in which (biker) bars and clubs open. Along with a new metal/hard rock radio station.

Why? I literally dreamed this xD so one can hope.

Would be nice.  What i had hoped for with nightclubs is that the clubs like bahama mamas would open, then you could go in and hang out with players there.

You know what i want to have is a actual block option on gta.. it would work like passive only you can do missons and other multiplayer things without being killed. In a way if you block someone on PlayStation or xbox it will block them on gta too.. Or if its your rival you can block him/her 24 hours so you can do stuff with your friends even though that your friends are friends with that person. Ether way it could take down alot of people that might be a Griefer... modders could make it bad but then we would know who is a modder too just by doing that..

2 months? the drip feed for this update won't even be over in two months

besides they're not putting out an update the same month RDR2 comes out lol

it'll be December MINIMUM before we see another update, big or small.

Even from their earning calls yesterday, they're expecting the spending on GTAO to slow down during the quarter, they didn't say why but it's obvious that it's because they'll put RDR2 out and nothing for GTAOnline, with their wording, I think even a December update may not happen this year, which makes total sense.

Red Dead and GTA are two very different audiences, don't forget

And Red Dead's not anywhere near GTA's numbers

A December update is still very possible, just no dripfeeds

As far as speculation I'll put all my eggs in a basket that says by october the dripfeed will end.

Well have a 2 month drought as they give red dead fanfare.

Gta will have an update in December then updates will continue as before for 2 years as red dead players cry out for a selling point that was promised at launch but nowhere in sight and the only thing R* says is...

Soon....

I think the next update will be related with Sea.

This is a theme R* can explore more and some cool new bussines

Great boat, a new moc maybe a yacht upgrade, treasure hunts under the sea, freeroam missions in deep sea to us use the dive suits.

The return of Bogdan from DDH, to guides us in this operation. and of course requested vehicles "civilian.
