Still, it's a huge loss for Rockstar if they weren't to release Red Dead on PC. Remember that singleplayer is still a huge draw for these games, not to mention that, even with all the problems and cheaters, the PC version of GTA V still sells. It has constantly been at the top of sales charts since 2015. Rockstar could do better at exploit and cheat prevention on PC - there are plenty of PC games that do a much better job of avoiding modification and exploitation - but there's some reason they don't invest time and effort into it.

As long as Rockstar is chasing profits, they'll keep trying to find new ways of gaining players and retaining them. Avoiding the PC market is against that, and I'd vote the only reason they wouldn't release the next Red Dead to PC is if there's some sort of behind-the-scenes intercompany stuff going on. Meanwhile, GTA will still be here to show that the market is ripe, and exploit it all the while.

At least there are some rumours about a PC release:

https://www.pcgamer.com/red-dead-redemption-2-pc-temporarily-appears-on-rockstar-linkedin-profile/

Also makes sense from a business perspective ... how many of you have bought GTA at least twice? First on old gen, then on new gen and then on PC.

Probably they will also do that trick for GTA VI. Release on current generation consoles just right before the new generation becomes available. Then have you buy it again. PC will be released afterwards.

Worked for GTA V, why shouldn't it for GTA VI?

(and I'm not starting a console war, don't @me)

You still have other games with modders going about. They don't just exist in GTA O.

And if it's a game you've been playing everyday for 3 years prior to getting a new console then yeah, very worth paying to not deal with sh*theads while still being able to hang out in populated lobbies without the worry of cash dropping on you or your rank getting manipulated

Not to mention a gaming PC is like triple the price of an Xbox One and PS 4

That and he said it somewhere during the RDR2 reveal (or when a trailer was about to release) in the speculation thread IIRC. Let's see if I can find it back.

Nothing new. Games are released later on pc all the time for many reasons

- it boosts sales on consoles
- if someone owns pc and a console theres a change he will buy it again on pc
- they are getting payed for exclusivity.
- optymalization takes time

*offtopic conversation about PCs and Consols*

Spoiler

Nah its only in gta. Never encountered it other games tbh.

And I'd rather lag a cheater out with a click of a button (happens maybe twice a month for me) and have a better experience on every other day of the year (not only in gta) then pay for a new console every couple years... Who has money for that? PCs are cheaper. And if you rly care about gta that much - ability to aim properly makes gta way better. Not even mentioning graphics or fps. Overall the whole experience is much better on PC (opinion from someone who had both)

Just to be clear - I'm not attacking consoles or anything like that, you can play on what you want. But objectively PC is a better investment. I can PM you if you want to discuss it more.

no need for offtopic.
TL;DR - Srsly read more about it. You will save a lot of money in the future.

I don't miss the 360 days at all......

And people wonder why some of us refuse to buy gaming PCs instead of buying new consoles. Graphics matter little if you have to deal with dicks who have nothing better to do than ruin the gaming experience for others with scripts and mods. Every story I see involving PC Online makes me not surprised in the least that Red Dead isn't going to become a PC title, much easier for them to be in control on the current gen consoles

a) just change lobbies or lag out, 99% of my time I never deal with modders, plus I don't see them much anyway...

b) Yan leaked that RDR2 is in fact coming to PC, the target is June/July 2019

I think Rockstar have fixed being able to pause in the Creator. I just did it and was able to load back into Online from the Creator.

The thing is, when you buy a console you are not choosing a game, but a generation. At least in this sense you're covered. That's the way I like to see it.

I've been a PC gamer in my youth and sometimes I kinda miss it, but I've chosen the console to separate my work from my play. Macs cant play games well anyway lol.

Just a random general thought, but ...how cool is it that R*'s actually doing something novel with the game (and GTA - maybe even games in general), rather than just more Content™ - ?

Think about it: there was a time where being able to listen to licensed music through your in-game radio was some incredible new thing - even more so with GTA adding recognisable real-life people as the DJs. Likewise the neat touch of GTA IV having a comedy club with digital versions of real-life comedians doing highlights from their real-world shows in-game.

Now, we've got the next step: an online game that's been slowing expanding over five years, suddenly getting real-life DJs to record brand-new material, and release it in said game - and appear in the game world to perform that new material 'live'. I.e., players can go to a virtual nightclub in the virtual world in which they've been inhabiting for maybe half a decade, and go to an virtual gig, just like going to one in real-life.

It's really something on two levels: firstly because it's really opening up the more immersive side of GTAO (and again, GTA!) in an unprecedented fashion, and secondly, because this is something fresh in terms of artists publicising their work - not through a film soundtrack tie-in, or TV show appearance, or even just added to a game soundtrack, but literally in the game world.

It's all a bit Star Trek holosuites/Ready Player One's Oasis, IMO - and I can't quite wrap my head around just how neat that is...

Very true. Doomsday surprised the holy hell out of me as that's the last thing I expected after four years of this game but it indeed showed us Rockstar can still go balls out on updates every now and then.

Nightclubs looks to be even more of a holy sh*t moment than Doomsday not only because they're finally putting out an update centered around it but because they're actually making an effort to make it the best possible version.

Its things like Doomsday that just kinda show little hints that the R* of old is still in there somewhere...then the Jester Classic arrives...and they ban your account out of the blue....

Alright, as somebody who is admittedly a little clueless when it comes to DJ's and DJing, what are the chances of some actual musical variety from these guys? Like, do any of these DJ's prefer Thrash to Electronica, for example? Metal over Hip-Hop? Do these DJ's actually write melodies, or will it just be laser sounds over "uhn tiss uhn tiss/unce-unce-unce-unce" or two songs playing simultaneously. Genuine question, not tearing down dj's because again, I'm clueless.

indeed!

it goes to show  R*/TT commitment with the game, yes they drop the ball every now and then, but this move of adding "simple" stuff like irl djs to the game, its a really nice thing and a step in the right direction!

hope for more things in the future!

What gets me is that so much of the content since late 2015 has been 'buy some high-end thing, fight each other in Freemode, do repetitive grinding stuff', or novelty modes (stunt races, adversary modes, Freemode events) where the whole idea of GTAO as a "living online world" (to quote the original trailer) has been largely ignored.

Meanwhile, you have Beslie Lenzies describing his new project Everywhere like this, and it sure does sound like the sort of thing GTAO could have been/done, and yet so far hasn't:

"Our goal is to create a platform where players can be entertained, and also entertain others while blurring the lines between reality, and a simulated world.”

So to see R* finally doing something with GTAO that feels more like that sort of thing, after putting out stuff like Gunrunning and Smuggler's Run (and that stuff clearly making them mad bank) - yeah, I'm surprised, but it's very much welcome!

1. Newswire says classic sports car.

2. Previous GTA's it was an E-Type.

3. It was originally an E-Type in the earlier movies.

4. That picture he posted is an E-Type.....

I’m no car expert so I really didnt know what model the car was in the movies, what I was trying to get at was if it would be that 1960’s model. That’s all. And a car from that era would most likely be a Sports Classic, if not that, then what class would it go into?

Yeah, we still haven't seen the Swinger yet, but JAKEBAB is right; It will very likely be the E-Type, based on that criteria. Although, TBF, R* could pull a Jester Classic and put an XK8/XKR into Sports Classics... *shivers*

Absolutely, I am still sitting with you in that particular compartment of the hype hope train, and while certain professional griefers may keep complaining how peaceful players can be soooo mean as to interfere with their natural needs of raining on other people's parade by just not being available for slaughter, we finally enjoy a bit of party in-between jobs and blast all our ill-gotten gains on Bohemian life, babes/boys & booze. (Hm, now there's another Nightclub name: "BBB Babes Boys 'n Booze")

But I'm afraid, with the gaming community being as it is, the only way to "re-socialize" Freemode from our current random warzones back into a more balanced meeting place providing equal opportunities for everyone, is giving players more control over who they want to play the game with. And since neither vote-kicking systems nor the dubious bad-sport-points so far have worked, what remains for R* would be to finally increase dramatically accessible gameplay in closed lobbies, especially Crew lobbies (this is not necessarily about solo-ing, this is about improving chances of getting together with like-minded players and play the full game nevertheless). And the chances of R* doing that, are pretty low.

Yet I am still ready to be surprised 😁
