So if we marry up the business consolidation stuff that Fun gleaned from the previous update with the latest R* announcement... what do we have? Does that maybe give a clearer picture of how the business consolidation might work?

Right now, the most likely thing seems to be using something like an office computer in your nightclub to access all of the other apps from one place.

 

Anything more than that, like being able to access anything from any HQ computer, is almost certainly out of the question, because that'd require untangling all the existing systems, and creating new connections between all of them.

 

Meanwhile, just having one 'middleman' service where all the existing app functionality is duplicated? That's much more simple, because instead of having to rework stuff already in the game, R* can just layer a new thing over the top, and leave all the older structures unchanged underneath.

And I agree dude, but in this specific case I was referring to, we already had "better than nothing" because Rockstar told the world what was on this week. 

Obviously 150% and 200% are quite different so there's only two possibilities - either Rockstar are wrong (which wouldn't surprise me all that much, but I'm sure their PR team would take a sh*t) or the Twitter Status was wrong. 

Ha, it was only in yesterday's stream I was moaning about them using the Nagasaki Buzzard in their imagery to promote the Nagasaki Havok, and then when Smuggler's Run finally released the Buzzard wasn't even a purchasable vehicle. 

Anyway it's more of a moot point now, I don't want to drag this subject out - people who have research to do in the Bunker won't complain either way I'd guess and take all the opportunity they can get to finish those projects.

 A lot of people expect the next update will be expensive, and I think it will, but here's a secret, if it's too expensive, DON'T BUY IT!!! Or at least wait a while and find it on sale. I'm not saying don't complain but keep it in perspective, perhaps.

I just buy the stuff I really want or need, which is mainly cars anyway. I don't buy all the clothes either, just the ones I know I'll wear.

Apparently modded nonsense on PS3 - not surprising, considering RDR2 isn't even out yet...

 

Considering how R* likes to push the envelope with each release, and big-budget games are only ever taking longer and longer to make, I wouldn't be surprised if GTA VI didn't come out until more like no earlier than 2020, around the time people are suggesting the next generation of consoles will be released (and even then, that's a stretch!)...

Lol - should have added an 'at least'.  Again, I don't reckon GTA VI will be happening until the very end of this current generation - it worked out well to have GTA V capitalise on a massive install base on last-gen machines, as well as being able to wring out as much potential as possible out of the hardware, so I see them doing the same again.

 

That, or if PS5/Xbox Whatever come out sooner than that, they'll probably wait until the new machines are commonplace, rather than trying to sell to a smaller base or making the same mistake of having to guess the hardware specs during development (that turned out terribly for Ubisoft with Watch Dogs 1...).

 

And yeah, if you look at Red Dead and GTA, the gap between GTA IV and V was five years. RDR2 is coming out seven years after RDR. It's unlikely to be just two years more than that, and even so, that'd put GTA VI as coming out in 2022, nearly a decade after V. And that's ...wouldn't be unrealistic, either - RDR2 has stuff like character hair growth, and I'd expect GTA V to adopt similar levels of detail, and then go even further. That's not going to happen for ages.

Still most excited at the prospect of the SSASSS cars potentially being fixed. The Swinger is what has me most excited content wise, if they show any JDM or muscle in the next post that hype is subject to change.

i would not hold any hope for them to remove those restriction stats and advanced flags. 

the best we can hope for is that they WON'T add those with the new dlc cars in the nightclub update. 

and tbh if they do add those then i'm done with the game as the cars are the biggest reason i play this game.

I was trying to figure that out. Usually they put the name of the update in bold letters.

I think they'll remove the vehicle flags. They have to have driven these cars and noticed how off they feel, that combined with a fair amount of complaints I've seen not just here but on social media too (every release of a new SSASSS car I'd see multiple complaints about it). They've fixed less pressing, far more obscure issues. I also won't buy any more cars if they continue applying those horrid flags... it will hurt, but not as bad as driving a gimped GB200 or  Ellie..

I pray that they remove the flags, because a good amount of the vehicles in this update could be viable race vehicles in their respective classes.

ummm...  you do realize RDR2 was made mostly in San Diego, VI has been in some form of production since V released on PC, I'm sure they moved some stuff around as Online gained traction but I garuntee VI is past pre production.  '20 or '21 is not at all out of the question...

I don't miss the 360 days at all......

And people wonder why some of us refuse to buy gaming PCs instead of buying new consoles. Graphics matter little if you have to deal with dicks who have nothing better to do than ruin the gaming experience for others with scripts and mods. Every story I see involving PC Online makes me not surprised in the least that Red Dead isn't going to become a PC title, much easier for them to be in control on the current gen consoles

At this point I wouldn't be suprised if we're getting the last Heists and I/E doubled at the same time. Perhaps even with Lester and Martin missions.

Seems like this is what'll happen the last week before the update hits aka next week. They wouldn't double all the other Heists and just leave the last ones to rot. They just changed up the pattern to kick us off our game lol.

but its still a better investment... Picking a new console over pc just because of ONE game?  wheres the logic in that? thats just a game...
and also RDR was confirmed on PC by leaks I think.

One game that's like multiple different games in one and quite easily worth picking up a new console for. If it was between playing GTAO in cheater infested lobbies on PC and playing in normal lobbies on PS4/XOne I'm definitely going with the latter.

Yeah, modders are pain in the ass, but the only one thing why i've chosed PC version over PS4 (have it, but don't touched it for almost for a year) is that i LOVE to shoot in GTA Online, but i just hate assisted aim, not like in GTA for sure, which is just a aimbot, and playing free aim for the old PC shooter player is almost impossible

^Mah you guys act like you don't have trolls and griffers on consoles. At least on pc you can easily get rid of them with a click of a button. Same goes for people with mods.
+ It runs way better and it loads faster. Not to mention that sometimes you encounter those fun crazy modded lobbies. Sometimes they are way better then any R* made DLC... 

Id rather have that then to have to deal with dripfeed, console aiming and meme vehicles all the time.  

But we are going off topic. Lets go back to Next dlc speculation.

Still, it's a huge loss for Rockstar if they weren't to release Red Dead on PC. Remember that singleplayer is still a huge draw for these games, not to mention that, even with all the problems and cheaters, the PC version of GTA V still sells. It has constantly been at the top of sales charts since 2015. Rockstar could do better at exploit and cheat prevention on PC - there are plenty of PC games that do a much better job of avoiding modification and exploitation - but there's some reason they don't invest time and effort into it.

 

As long as Rockstar is chasing profits, they'll keep trying to find new ways of gaining players and retaining them. Avoiding the PC market is against that, and I'd vote the only reason they wouldn't release the next Red Dead to PC is if there's some sort of behind-the-scenes intercompany stuff going on. Meanwhile, GTA will still be here to show that the market is ripe, and exploit it all the while.
