anyway, I agree with you regarding the Lazer.

Beyond the forums, I definitely got the impression that people found the overall cost of entry frustrating - just going through the comments on one YouTube video breakdown, a typical response is "I don't have time to grind for this stuff - it's all too expensive".

 

Same to a lesser degree with Gunrunning, too - you need to buy a bunker, then an MOC, then MOC upgrades, and only then do you get to modify your weaponised vehicles. Except with personal aircraft, you can't even just buy them and use them stock without a hangar - at least with weaponised road vehicles, you can store them in regular garage spaces.

 

I'm hoping that nightclubs are handled in a more logical way, though - people were annoyed about things like having to buy a mostly-useless facility, just to start the new heists, but I don't think anyone can consider it unfair to have to be able to purchase a nightclub in order to ...run your own nightclub.  After all, it's not a paywall if what you're paying for is the specific thing you want!

You forgot MOC vehicle storage, which make it to 8 for last year and 128 any-pv slots in total. If its binary coded, its unlikely to them to add more slots.

I'm guessing nightclubs will work like every other interior

but it would be cool if:

- everyone can get in without invites if you set your club to "public"
- vip section for friends and stuff only
- ability to kick someone out (cutscreen with a bouncer trowing them out)

I'd love a casino heist.. open the interior, and allow gambling but without the use of in game currency. Have it pay out in friggin job points for all I care, I just want to play some damn roulette and vidja poker..

I'm not not being snarky or anything, I'm genuinely curious as I wasn't active in the forums back then.

No worries - no snark read into that, s'all cool.

Definitely remember people being annoyed at the prices, rather than the car:aircraft ratio - particularly because the Coquette Classic wasn't as much of a draw as the new air vehicles. After all, back then, R* had yet to re-balance payouts, so only a bunch of missions actually paid anything worthwhile - so an update of three expensive Pegasus vehicles (after previous updates where most of the vehicles were in the sub-$500k range) was seen as unreasonably steep.

 

...and then factor in the payouts from the Flight School challenges themselves, which are still chickenfeed to this day - overall, the reception towards that update was that it really wasn't great bang for one's buck.

Speaking of the casino phonecalls (from Lester, Martin, and Gerald), there's a small fun fact about them. They only exist in the last-gen version of the game. They were completely removed - both the audio and subtitles - on the current-gen version. The other phonecalls about the kickstart arena, pink slip racing, etc, still exist however. Really weird that Rockstar removed the casino stuff specifically, it's as if they didn't want people to get any wrong ideas.

Maybe weird legal issues? Kinda like with coffee mod? 

Or maybe they decided that they don't need that cause they will never use it.

Hmm - perhaps the stuff they left in was stuff they figured "maybe we can do something with this eventually" (even though they've yet to do so - if ever), while whatever they had planned for the casino was definitively ruled out, even back then...?

They can patch it back in though, several updates have patched in new audio, animations, etc.  It's a slightly strange move to go out of their way to remove it because when you really think about it, it doesn't mean anything.  It doesn't affect at all their ability to still use it, and people online already knew it existed, so it's not like this quieted down the casino hype.

Giving a casino option in the game would be a big no no.

 

If they just add a heist about it, people will complain that you can't access it outside of it.

If you can access it but there's no gambling options people would complain about that limitation (I mean, casino with no gambling mini-games? wut)

 

And here's the big No:

If they add gambling options, you'd essentially get shark card money that can be bet and lost in the game... Which is enabling and providing gambling to minors (even if you don't buy a shark card you can bet and lose all your money, giving you a reason to buy a shark card).

 

While one could argue that the game has age restrictions and Shark Cards are only optional ...

Rockstar wouldn't want to touch the possible drama and accusations from a 1000 yards, especially after Hot Coffee.

No GTAO news, no RDR2 news, no RDO news - there's been more news lately about Cyberpunk 2077, and that game doesn't even have a release date yet!

 

(what are the odds that Cyberpunk 2077 comes out before this next update? )

Considering that Qabeta has yet to be updated, we'd still be waiting for a good month before it actually comes out even if it was announced tomorrow. The shortest testing phase was 3 weeks. At this point, they better wait until we know around what time it's actually coming out.

One option would be to give players a daily allocation of Casino chips that can only be used to gamble in the casino and players can't purchase more with GTA $$
