Engine resistance is just the code and not content? I don't understand that statement really.

The code for it is local, no? So to fix it they'd most likely have to let us download a hot-fix patch. The code for the Engine Resistance is not on R* server-side, that would make little sense, especially seeing as its P2P. But I might be completely wrong as I'm no system developer myself. However, it would surprise me a great deal if they don't patch it along with the next DLC. They could get away with the performance of some cars, but if nothing else leaving the Taipan as it is would be a joke.

Also, if this downtime means they're fixing something, they'd most likely have informed us beforehand like they've done in the past.

On a more positive note I'm glad to read about the Nightclub content, sounds exciting! My greatest wish is for us to be able to use more drugs for various effects. And ideally for NPC's to turn into aliens if you go several days on a speed-binge.

Hmm...Fingers crossed that they're removing it right now that the servers are down, since it's just code.

I'm getting on my Issi Classic as soon as the game is back.

Pretty sure we need to download a update for that to happen, if not they would probably already have fixed it

Bebay: Exactly. So it's probably just some unforeseen clusterf*ck and has got nothing to do with engine resistance.

Wonder if any beachbum stuff will come along? I mean, now is a good time too as summer is on the way. Unlike the last one which was during the hottest time of the year... November.

I've said it before and i'll say it again...

It's a f*cking joke that we still can't own a beach house. There are so many awesome beach house properties.

Engine resistance is hardcoded, a hot-fix can't properly fix it.

A temporary fix is possible but it will feel like something boosting it.

R* could easily...

They theoretically could do many things easily. Like make the Jester Classic something worthy of that name.

I do not trust Rockstar to stray too far from what they have already done at all. Yes, Nightclubs sound good. I'm sure they will look good too. But I don't expect any in depth new gameplay additions as far as making money goes.

I do think they will bring back the dancing minigames, but even then I am hesitant to be hyped about it.

Heh, that's always the rub, isn't it? The disparity between 'what R* can theoretically do' and 'what we're likely to actually get'... :p

What's really frustrating is that something as simple as 'keep the nightclub staffed/stocked' isn't a huge stretch at all - again, it's just the same as the Biker businesses. But assuming that R* will get something right, simply because they got it right before, is no guarantee - they got so many of the Doomsday Heist cars right, they got the Elegy Retro right, and yet neither of those facts prevented them from dropping the ball with the Jester Classic. :facedesk:

It's a pain in the ass - particularly since this is the first update theme that's really had me excited since ...heck, Ill-Gotten Gains (not including getting my hopes dashed by the Hipster 2 rumours!). I'd love for clubhouse-level customisation - but there's every possibility that interior customisation is as lacklustre as that for bunkers (or worse).

Le sigh - anyone else wish that R* could extend their reputation for polish and consistency beyond their single-player titles, and have it cover GTAO as well? :sigh:

Looking forward for the final Vinewood update where it is revealed that the events of GTA Online are the production of Michael De Santa and Solomon Richards.

This probably means there will be even more obscurity than flying cars.

This update sounds promising in almost every way.

However, I've got millions and am looking to make even more good money with a nice looking business so I hope it isn't some ugly run of the mill club in a sh*thole, aka anything in relation to Trevor. Bahama Mamas, Maisonette 9, something like that please? Not smelly thot ridden place.

I hope our nightclubs will actually have people inside dancing just like we have researchers and manufacturers working on bunkers, and I also hope that they aren't there 24/7 as that would be ridiculous(clubs gotta close, you know?)

I just want some immersion.

All right, I've thought more and here's how I think the nightclubs will work. This is all just speculation.

The clubs you'll be able to buy won't be the existing bars like Bahama Mamas or Tequilala, although those might become accessible. You'll be able to buy one location from the Foreclosures website and buy various upgrades to personalize the look. Buy a dance floor as an upgrade, etc. There will be a bunch of locations in LS and several different types of club to choose from, but functionally they're the same. Functionally it will be sort of like a hybrid of the MC's clubhouses and businesses. Rockstar sticks to what it knows.

You'll have to be in an organization to operate the club. CEO, VIP, or MC, they'll all work with it. The club has a supply meter just like a business. You'll have to go on a variety of fetch quests to keep that meter filled. There's no "product" meter, instead you have a "reputation" meter, which determines how much money you make. If you let the supplies run out, you'll lose rep, and thus lose income. That income will be periodic, sort of the opposite of the utility bill.

You can buy the supplies, but you can't buy rep. Just like the MC clubhouse, you'll also have a few "contract" missions you can start. These will mirror TBoGT club management tasks: escort a celebrity to the club, go pick up some hookers, make a drug deal, and so on. Completing these may improve your club rep, or just pay straight cash.

Access to the club will be via a blue corona at the entrance, like other business. An interaction menu setting will let you control access, from everyone, to friends and crew only, to no one. The dance minigame will be back, if you buy the dance floor upgrade, and will unlock stuff if you do well (exactly like the bunker shooting range).

(don't sue me when all this is wrong)

Makes perfect sense to me. I actually forgot about the possibility of having to be a CEO or MC president, just like with everything else.

That'd actually be really cool, and totally in keeping with how there were certain things that could only be done during evening/work hours in TBoGT.

It'd be a neat twist on the Freemode formula - you can only do the club management-ish stuff during evenings, which means that resupply work and what-have-you are best done during daylight ours.

Or, at the very least, maybe have things quiet down during the day - there are still a few patrons milling around, but strictly just the 'I think three pints is a perfectly acceptable working lunch' crowd. :pp

I do have some hope that this DLC does more immersive and creative things for us here, like with the customisation and such.

They're mentioning all this involvement and depth for RDR2, this could be a great opportunity for R* to try to appeal to a playerbase that has been asking for more from this game in terms of the things you mention. (Great reading your posts). But if RDR2 is trying to be a more immersive, deep, 'alive' world, they could use this nightclubs theme to start the ball rolling, maybe.

Not so much that they'll have more people working on the DLC or such, we know they're on RDR2. But the guys that are left to create this DLC might have more direction from above as those guys will have RDR2 's hopeful success in mind from their POV.

I don't expect too much, but like you said with the biker's clubhouses, more of that choice and diversity out there would be awesome. Great for me to choose mine, but equally, when with friends/others, it might be the same spot on the map, but that's where the similarities end. Cabaret, gay clubs, 70's disco, 80' tech, strip clubs, DnB/raving. (Not into rock/metal, so don't know the slang for those type clubs. 'Pit' maybe?) Many ideas come to mind. I do hope there's much of this choice and depth in this.

They're clearly using GTA:O to promote RDR2 in the splash screens now, and the treasure hunts too. No better way to show folks they still got the magic to be truly awesome, try to pull some more eyes in, especially those that have moved on because story wasn't added to.

The fact that we can speculate each update and get them almost 100% accurate goes to show that since June 2016 the major updates have all followed the same systems and they just reuse the same code.

June 2016 - F&F Crates system.

October2016 - MC Business system

December 2016 - I&E - Car system (reskinned crates)

June 2017 - Gunrunning *Reskinned MC business. Supply, let supplies be used, sell product.

August/September 2017 - Smugglers Run *Reskinned crates from F&F

December 2017 - Doomsday Heist.. Reskinned VANILA heists from 2015.

In terms of racing, cunning stunts set them up for continued re skinned races. Stunt, transform, Special vehicle circuit, tiny races, south san an. Sport series with hot ring races more stunt races, target assault, etc

As some have speculated already, the new nightclubs can go one of two ways - cosmetic and customisable like apartments or yachts with the addition of a reskinned fetch wait and profit system.

Actually like the idea. And it's perfectly possible to make by R*.

Well, if they do that, the difference between medium and high "reputation" would be small in terms of income, so I wouldn't see people caring too much about supplies when the novelty is gone.

I actually want Trevor as the contact for Nightclubs most, screw the rest.

You buy it, and you get a phonecall from a fellow clubowner (Trevor) who will educate you how to run a club.
