Next DLC Speculation Thread (Part 6)

Premium Edition and last dlc in June. Sucks that online had so much potential ie police dlc, mafia dlc, bikers part 2, an actual racing dlc, some nice iv vehicles, and streetgang dlc. What sucks even more is that GTA VI won't be out till 2025.

+ casino DLC, mansions, beach/water-themed... etc.

For what it's worth, I don't believe the updates are totally done. The game just makes too much money and GTA VI is a long way off. RDR2 is not going to pull the kind of player base or make the kind of revenue that GTA Online does. Even if Rockstar WANTS to be done, Take Two is going to want them to keep going.

Hopefully thats the case.

That's what my gut tells me. Unfortunately it also tells me that we're about done with updates of any consequence. I think the possibility of seeing any of the big fan-requested updates like the ones we just listed is really low. The possibly of seeing a map expansion (prior to GTA VI, whatever form it may take) is just about nil. At this point I'm just hoping that this summer update is more exciting than Yan makes it sound. "Consolidating the businesses (that we are all kind of sick of)" is not super promising, but hopefully there's a lot more to it than just that.

I honestly don't think that the updates are gonna stop. As other people have said, it just makes them too much money, they'd be stupid to stop now. I think that we will see a slow down (Or even a complete lack of big updates) in the frequency of updates in order for them to push RDR 2.

Then when the game has been out for a few months the updates will start up again. As Imran Sarwar said in an interview:

"But the rollout of updates may change a little in order to encourage players to try Red Dead Redemption II when it launches. It would be great to have players splitting time between two incredible worlds, but we shall see how things evolve."

They're just gonna wait and see how successful RDR 2 and RDR Online are and go from there.

"Theres rly no need for lazy sh*tty filler updates if you are "the best selling game of all time" and all that, right?"

they don't owe us anything, the game as is is worth the asking price.

And what about for once saying "thank you" to all those people that bought shark cards and made them the best selling game in the first place? A nice gesture for once.

Sure, why waste one extra procent of those profits (that grow all the time) to make quality updates more then once a year (at best) or invest in voice actors or cutscreens when you can half ass it for 4 years straight with copypasted content from SP cause "whatever we will do it will still print money at this point"

But sure "We paid for SP and we already got more then we payed for"

Some people are easily pleased. Good for them I guess...

I just hope they will use that money to fund future projects.

I have a lot of criticisms of GTA Online, but lack of effort in their DLC is not one of them. I don't know where you got this idea that the DLC has been "copypasted" from SP. Almost none of what we got was ever in SP. Some was cut content meant for SP, but either way it's content that they made; knowing its origin doesn't affect my opinion of its quality (whether positive or negative). And that's "knowing" with an asterisk, because I really think a lot of assumptions are being made based on extremely limited knowledge.

There's a lot of stuff I would have liked to have seen in this game, and a lot of stuff they did add that I don't care for. But on the whole I think we did pretty well in terms of the breadth and variety of content. We got heists, then a second round of heists, all mo-capped and voice acted. We got businesses for free roam (once a very popular fan request) - not just one, but a bunch of different ones with new playable content, essentially new contact missions in a free roam setting. While they were guilty along the way of recycling a core concept extensively, they managed to at least inject some diversity and ways to make money into what was originally the least interesting part of Online. We got more cars, planes and helicopters than you can count. We got yachts, useless as they are. We got free roam events, another way to spice up the boredom of free roam (and still one of the best updates IMO). We got organizations that go hand in hand with the businesses but serve many other purposes. We got a positively ridiculous number of new customization options (masks and clothes, also some new tattoos, face paints, contacts, etc.). The game really was radically remade - it only halfway resembles what it was at launch, and there are literally hundreds of hours of new content that were put in.

Honestly, when I hear this particular gripe, I don't know what people were really expecting. I outright hate some of the things they did to this game - and some of the things they didn't fix - but I've never felt like they skimped on effort in the updates, except for that shaky first year-and-change where it seemed like all the updates were just going to be a few new cars and one new assault rifle.

The more I think about it, the more I see it as a way of them selling the game at full 'new release' price again/still...

Something that always stood out to me, whenever I'd see things like Black Friday discounts, was that GTA V never seemed to drop in price all that much, compared to other games - and then when it did a little, R* was already selling bundle deals (GTA V + a higher-end Shark card) that ...basically bumped the game up to full price again.

With the Criminal Enterprise Starter Pack being a thing now, it's just the next logical iteration of the same: rather than sell the base game for less per copy, keep the price around the usual $60 mark, but just shove in more stuff. Considering how many times R* has been able to boast about GTA V maintaining a comfortable place in top 10 sales charts, they're not dismissive of the value of newly-purchased copes of the game (i.e., they're not just banking on Shark card sales from existing players), and so it makes sense they'd want to make the most from each said purchase if possible.

it's called being grateful for what we have, try it sometime. no one like the kid that bitches cos he didn't get the toy he wanted for Christmas, appreciate what you have cos you could have nothing...

I understand the want, I am not saying you can't wish for more, but don't bitch about getting a free content update...

I used to work at a GameStop, GTAV has gone on sale SOOOO many times... usually for 50% off

Yeah, but that's GameStop SOP, isn't it? I'm mainly thinking of things like R*'s own online shop, and platform-specific digital marketplaces - it's always struck me as odd how GTA V hasn't really had the same kind of price depreciation of other similar-era titles.

And come to think of it, physical copies in brick-and-mortar stores do drop in price more - but if anything, that's all the more reason to sell a new 'all-inclusive' physical version at a higher price, isn't it? That's still my overall point here: R* and Take-Two still value each new sale of V/O enough that a seemingly 'better value for money' bundle version lets them make closer to new game price from each new copy sold, despite the game being nearly half a decade old.

R* is a business. Business needs to make a profit. While keeping that in mind i'd say they're doing their best to juggle between making us the GTA community and their overlord T2 interactive happy. It's a tough and thankless job i think.. the pay must be good though

So in summary.. GTA Online = Best game ever!

Thank you Rockstar! You rock my world.. i mean your open world rock my world.. i mean.. oh you know what i mean

Yup, at most Wal-Marts in the United States you can still find GTA V in the case for $40-$50 in the same place you find the new releases. No other game has that staying power.

As a matter of fact, GTA as a franchise has staying power more so than any other franchise. Using Wal Mart as a reference again, in most stores you can still find one lone PS2 game still being sold new, and that's the III/VC/SA Trilogy. As well as the VCS/LCS pack occasionally. GTA IV and V old gen are on the shelves as well obviously.

GTA and Rockstar are forces to be reckoned with.

my bro is always on stores looking for games to buy and he still surprised how gta have managed to maintain it value pretty much 5years later.

i have seen new games go from $60 to $30 in a couple months, yet V still has a $50-60 pricetag.

the other day i was at walmarts with my bro, he was questioning the price of V and why it still on the shelves next to newly released games, followed by "who the f*ck still buying this game?!", as if it was scripted, a dude walked by and asked a employee to get him 2 copies of V 🤣

i was like, see, people still buying this sh*t!

it would take a miracle for any other company or even R* itself to be able to top what V/gtao have achieved.
