People sometimes also put military vehicles and WW2 aircrafts in that "meme category" bag... Why would I care what other people define as "meme vehicles" when its not even a real thing?

Meme vehicle are not the ones that are OP, or are military etc. I have nothing agains military vehicles, but I'd rather not see anymore of them for a long time. Those are the vehicles that don't have any right to exist irl let alone work like they do in the game, so basically: every flying car/bike with missiles and/or mounted machine guns and rocket powered vehicles (jets are obviously an exeption)

 

I like nostalgic vehicles from 80s TV shows cause imo nothing fits to gta more then that. If you want to add weaponized vehicles - thats the way to do it.

They dont fit the atmosphere of GTA series let alone HD Era.

I don't think the Wastelander, Armoured Boxville, or the Technical have ever been popular enough to be "meme" vehicles. It's a silly term, because they're not memes, but I digress.

 

It boils down to how somebody defines the atmosphere of GTA. I mean, to me, and to many people, the games have been action-movie inspired since GTA II, and so things like the Deluxo and Oppressor fit right in. Why shouldn't they if we're also expected to swallow any of the crazy, over-the-top action that goes on with normal vehicles and weapons? And, though this is beginning to brush against "gameplay vs. theme," vehicles routinely break the laws of physics in GTA. All of them. Player characters routinely survive fatal situations. There are things more aimed towards making the game fun than believable, and there's nothing wrong with that, until somebody else's sense of fun and what is "right" is ruined. Then those people will open hostility and try to put an end to all that ruined their fun, not caring if they're disregarding others' fun in that pursuit. It's quite silly.

 

In short, I think things like the Deluxo and Oppressor are right at home in GTA Online, and that a lot of players have misidentified the GTA series. Maybe because they're selfish, maybe because they haven't experienced it enough. I dunno.

But... you started with saying that DIY vehicles are meme vehicles... but DIY literally means you can "Do It Yourself". Ofc you can mount a machine gun on a car and add some redneck armor to it... Thats the basic idea behind MadMax lol. You ever heard about Killdozer? People do that stuff in real life.

Well thats like... your opinion man. With Micheal having a movie studio and being a big movie geek? With gta being a parody of Hollywood? With SP missions with James Bond car? They fit PERFECTLY to GTA atmosphere.

So now you agree with me - you don't rly have a problem with meme vehicles (like jetpack).

 

You have problem when they put meme vehicles but they make them armored and they brake rules of physics.

 

 

The thing is? They are already int he game and theres nothing you can do about it right now... so no reason to get mad about them.

 

For me Online was never part of the cannon. Single Player, story mode = thats the STORY.

 

Freeroam is just... additional content. "crazy fun with random people" . I don't count it as cannon. Events from freeroam is not real, adversary modes are not real, freeroam vehicles are not real. Story missions? That might be cannon sure.

 

 

edit:

as for the "braking rules of physics" - aliens are part of the story, not just easter eggs. If gta has alien technology on earth = they can have hover tech and small jet engines so I rly don't care.

 

- I care about it being fun

- I care about things being balanced

 

Game would be boring after 5 years with no weaponized vehicles at all...

 

if they already jumped the shark = its already unrealistic. You can add aliens and zombies and whatever. Its fanfiction from now on for me.

Not sure about zombies but I agree with Piro about the aliens. GTA SA, V and partially Online have had a good few alien conspiracies added to them, and in my opinion has built a solid base for a story around them.

To me that shark was jumped as soon as I ate pavement off a motorcye in the fist 15 mins of my characters life in LS and was greeted by the epsilon cult leader.

 

We're in an eternal purgatory... if a unicorn wants to fart itself into existence it'd still fit those laws of reality as R* defined as far as I'm concerned.

Well today is the last hope for team "dlc on 13th"

If nothing is announced today then I'm guessing trailer on 13th and dlc on 20th.

If it's a filler DLC I wouldn't be surprised if there is no fanfare.

 

But the QABeta needs to be static for 2 weeks prior to release, or at least that's been the trend right? So the 20th may be the safe assumption. It may have failed Microsoft's or Sony's approval process and needs to fix it and reapply for certification.

 

If it fails again I probably wouldn't be surprised if they extend the drip feed with another 13 or so cars/planes/whatever
