Uhm, you do realize that if Hipster 2 is on hold, that most likely means that its going to be a >small< update, with a couple of new vehicles and nothing major.

If they encountered issues with Hipster pt2 and had to put it on hold, then they wont have a large replacement ready. This means that this is going to be a really small thing.

Considering how long R* spent on Cunning Stunts (IIRC, people found the first details about stunt races around the time of Ill-Gotten Gains, nearly a year before) - or how the cars for both Lowriders updates were found at once, but half released many months later - it's perfectly fair to assume that R* might just have been working on several things concurrently, and for whatever reason, decided to change the release order.

 

I have three possible ideas as to how this might play out - and they're increasingly frustrating:

 

1. We do indeed get INAH 2 next, and it's all good. That's probably the best outcome, since it's a nice, broad-scope update full of eclectic things. That also means that R* can just shove in something weaponised as a drip-fed vehicle, and it'll just add to the variety.

 

2. Something like a tuner/custom car update - which ...ehh. It's my #1 request, don't get me wrong - and vehicle design/quality is probably the best it's ever been, so now's as good a time as any to put those kinds of vehicles in (a Supra or 300ZX, designed with the same level of care as the Rapid GT Classic or Nokota - holy...). But then there's the weaponised stuff to deal with, and ...eh, I'm not happy about a decent car-enthusiast update being diluted by more of that nonsense. And I don't have the confidence in R*'s current gameplay design philosophy to assume they wouldn't just make a tuner-themed business an extension of CEOs and MCs (because sure, that makes sense... ).

 

3. R* has a bunch more weaponised things and supers lying around, or for whatever other reason put out a 'Gunrunning 3' (possibly indeed deciding to cash in on the water-based spin-off rumours). Cue more overpriced things that would have been Pegasus vehicles back in the day (and therefore side attractions, not the bulk of the update), barely any structured gameplay other than recycling the same 'gopher' model we've had all year (so no PvE), and yet more players leaving in droves out of boredom and frustration...

 

 

You are mixing things up here. Concepts are planned out ahead, of course. They wont be fully fleshed out, some more, some less, but they of course have a roadmap of what theyre going to do. Also: Artists are usually done with their work first and then move ahead and work on future content.

 

But the updates are still being finished and mostly worked on successively.

but they are not messing with them, the YTers are the messengers, the people that look bad when it turns out not to be true are the leakers, and if they were messing with them it still won't hurt the YTers, they will still get thousands of views and keep making money.

...except in the instances where they haven't. And even back when R*'s longer-term 'road map' for GTAO content was largely pre-determined (i.e., everything up to and including Heists), that still doesn't preclude them having to delay one thing, prioritise another, etc.

 

After all, look at the scheduling of the last two years: a small bit of filler in Spring, then three or more substantial updates starting in the Summer. R* commits to renewing content updates on a year-by-year basis at the end of each year, and then ...spends months mostly working on the main updates for the second half of the year. If they really did things successively, you've have had an almost 6-month stretch working on FAFF and Gunrunning, but then only 2-3 on things like Import/Export or Smuggler's Run.

 

...or maybe - just maybe - the more efficient way of working would be to plan the broad strokes of the yearly schedule, and make content concurrently, with things overlapping, being moved around depending on whatever, etc. Hence why the Banshee 900R and Sultan RS were quick filler using what later turned out to be the interior pieces being created for the Cunning Stunts cars - or why the Retinue and Rapid GT Classic were added to Smuggler's Run (most likely to gauge player interest in those kinds of vehicles, for a possible Hipster 2). What if the Retinue and Rapid GT Classic wound up being commercial duds? Would R* commit to an entire update of that - or have other assets ready on standby in case they needed to change their plans?

 

 

Quite frankly (and considering the amount of cut content that's standard industry practice in general), I wouldn't be surprised if, for every update we've had, there's been a bunch of stuff that's hit the 'cutting room floor', either permanently, or in such a way as gets re-used later. I mean, we have a clear example of that recently, with the FH-1 Hunter - in short, if R* has either had to delay INAH 2, or decided it's not the thing to end 2018 with, they more than likely have an alternative bunch of things they're planning on putting out instead.

but they are not messing with them, the YTers are the messengers, the people that look bad when it turns out not to be true are the leakers, and if they were messing with them it still won't hurt the YTers, they will still get thousands of views and keep making money.

As I stated earlier the new DLC that I expect is the Cops n croocks. The reason to that is most likely because R* stated earlier that there will be new additions to legendary motorsports and new properties on the Maze Bank Foreclosures site. The other thing they said is that there will be new weaponized vehicles. In the beta version of GTAO there was a cops n croocks mode ( there was ONLY this mode) so this is kind of cut content. Maybe they will add it like the Rhapsody from GTA4 Lost and Dammed. The relase date I think will be Dec. 12th

See, I reckon they're out of ideas if they release another business that does the exact same s*** as everything already.

 

There's ridiculous amounts of creative potential contained in the broad concept of 'run an ongoing business in Freemode' - maybe something with passive income where you have to keep it running at a certain level, maybe something where the activities allow for players to pick and choose the style of work they do (the nearest R*'s done with that is Biker work), maybe some proper PvE with actual structure for a change, eh?

 

But no - just 'pick up the stuff, then drop off the other stuff' over and over again. And always in public Freemode - because as we all know, the core appeal of the GTA experience is 'randoms f***ing up each other's s*** with expensive toys, like if Michael Bay had made Battle Royale'...
