Next DLC Speculation Thread (Part 5)

Saint's Row is the last thing I want GTA to take any influence from, that series went down the toilet fast and the last 'saint's row game' was a massive flop. If GTA SP had all the wacky stuff it would be way worse, and if VI goes the Saint's Row route there's no chance I'll be purchasing it.

 

Not even the customization options for both clothing and cars? The effort put into the variety of vehicles? The amount of time that needed spent for the recording of dialogue for not only story characters, but the huge log of NPC chatter?

 

Don't get me wrong, I don't mean to suggest GTA should go to where Saints Row did by the end of it's tetralogy (the whole blow-up-the-earth, aliens thing was too outrageous, I will never disagree), but the games did still retain quality. And what occurred later had no effect on what came before, back in 2008, with the second game, which, while still wacky and silly, was far more in-line with what GTA had been in the 3D era, but better.

 

We're here to discuss the future of Online, mainly. If Rockstar never does anything to make the game better, everybody will complain forever and, some day, we'll all move on. I would hope, before then, we could make a difference for the better, and I hope to put my understanding to use in that pursuit. If anybody wants to know what I'm talking about with Saints Row having better customization, feel free to check out the images in the spoiler below.

 

 

 

There was a huge variety of and depth to vehicle customization in the games as far back as the original game, and Saints Row 2 stepped above that. These screenshots show only the level of customization available for painting cars! These are successive menus, showcasing what part of the car the player wishes to paint, what region of that part, what kind of paint, and what color (with previews).

And, below, is a small showcase of the clothing color feature present in the series. The graphics were also independently colorable, and this feature was available on most articles of clothing.

GTA San Andreas had a jetpack, but it wasn't weaponized and its purpose was to find hidden easter eggs around the map. It was a FUN toy in a contained singleplayer sandbox, not a griefing tool in a disgustingly unbalanced multiplayer.

 

 

Newsflash the game was (and still is) pretty silly, the only one who deviated was GTA 4 with its dark emo phase, the rest have always been stupid and over the top. it's not just a Saints Row thing... that one game is a parody OF a thing that was already a parody. Go bicker somewhere else.

GTAs were always flamboyant in their satire and ridiculous missions, but NONE of these missions or any of these games had memecars and ridiculously broken gameplay. What makes you think I have a problem with CJ catching up to a cargoplane with a Sanchez? What makes you think I have a problem with Vic using Domestobot to destroy Mendez's safe? What makes you think I have a problem with Toni wearing a chicken suit? These are all silly in good fun, but not obnoxiously silly to include a flying DeLorean with 30 ultra-accurate rockets.

Oh for sure, yeah. Saint's Row, even at its lowest point, still has great customisation that any GTA game hasn't matched yet, and my hope is that 2018 will be a year of better customisation for both male and female characters. I just think the silly stuff in SR is a real turnoff, and disagree that 'GTA was following Saint's Row after the downturn that was IV'. GTA IV was inarguably a controversial game but I see V as more of a return to traditional GTA form rather than R* taking any influence from other franchises. Just a misunderstanding really.

Hmm casino? they could but only as an activity like tennis and arm wrestling without using any money (gambling laws), just play poker slot machine etc with friends or better yet it could be added as a passive income business just like in SP with 600k profit at max every 2 hours

Well apparently it's update not for 'lc stories' but for 'episodes from LC' which are completely different games on different platforms. Also, its only xbox one update. Looking at how they updated FH, Crackdown and other stuff for X support its safe to say that update was initiated by M$, not R*, and 99% its about X enchancements. Which is cool anyway. RDR1 update incoming i guess.

If we ever gonna get Clubs or a Mansions like Tony Montana/Tommy Vercetti I just hope they will let us customize our goons. Just let us pick different npcs and different outfits.

 

That way every time someone sends a Strike Team to get you - it's gonna be something new.

 

 

 

I never understood why customization is so limited in this game...

 

I mean take our interiors for example

 

- why its always only 4-8 color schemes instead of 10-20 ? Changing hue in photoshop is not that complicated...

- why only 2-3 different styles? why not more? I get that different props would take longer to load but they could give us at least couple more textures to choose from.

 

 

If R* wants our money they rly should invest in stuff like this instead of... orbital cannons and other cheap tricks.

 

if they creat a dlc that adds only additional features to old dlcs I would be more then happy.

 

- new styles for office, mc, bunkers, hangars, facility, garages, yachts

- new minigames, pool table, golf on roofs and yachts

- additional rooms with new features for all businesses

- ability to customize your stuff

- ability to set colors for your CEO vehicles

- maybe even a business that unlocks unique shirts and outfits and skins

- new mission packs for all businesses

- new phones, new ringtones, new parachutes, new glasses, new rims, new licence plates, gun skins

- Bennys wheels on all cars

- new spawn colors for npc cars

- new npc cars

 

and all those other things that R* never updates cause they forgot that those even exist.

Yes, an update that doesn't add something new entirely, but one that improves the things we already have. More functions for yachts, businesses, CEO OFfice customization, MC Clubhouse customization add-ons, adding new mods to existing cars that needs them (Topless, spoiler removal for example).

Definitely want a mansion myself with a big garage, ive cleared out my special vehicle garage and put my choice of special vehicles in there . I now have a few slots again but they won't last long

New customisation for the things we have will sound awesome! (and some new/better sound for the cars/bikes etc.) plus a new set of wheels for cars (racer, large wheels, news tires inscription, etc.) (Bikes have them, lowrider have them but sadly we can't apply them on certains car like the Hustler or Hermes..)

Hah, yeah, I guess the image in my head was, like, GTA walked down a beach, and Saints Row followed by matching each footstep of GTA, then GTA came back and walked in the mixed footsteps. I meant something like how, from San Andreas to IV, the game lost a lot of what people really liked about the 3D era games, and when it moved on to V, many of those things had returned, all the while Saints Row had retained those features.

 

So. Not wanting to make that embarrassing derailment mistake again, I suppose I'll speculate and ask for speculation. If we are to see an Ill-Gotten-Gains-style luxury content drop, I figure the content will not only reflect upon the Ill-Gotten-Gains updates, but also the later, greater Executives and Other Criminals and Further Adventures in Finance and Felony updates, which both also heavily focused on luxury, "high life," material wealth culture. Do I think we'll see more armoured personal cars? Well, it would certainly be interesting (and helpful...), but I personally only really think on the more pedestrian of wheels. Following the Windsor, its drophead variant, and the load of Cognoscenti variants, it would surprise me if there weren't any additions to the Enus marquee. I personally would not be too displeased if more cars like the Chino and Virgo appeared, though I'm a sucker for big ol' American cars like those, and can't ever keep up with whatever the current state of the hyper/super car cult is. Clothing could certainly do with a boost, though the original Ill-Gotten-Gains selection were all a little gaudy for my tastes. I know plenty of people have been asking for casual-formal, and if Rockstar can find a way to make it sell, such things would fit right into a IGG/E&O/FAFF style update. Mansions would fit, though since they're always a point of contention among the community, I think more stilts and, perhaps, the oceanside homes in Pacific Bluffs and Chumash are a safe bet. Though mansions, clearly, are always in demand... Point of contention!

 

But... If we're getting something more like an expensive I'm Not A Hipster-style update... Mmm. I know far less about automotive counter-culture than I do about luxury (because luxury is easy), so any input on that topic would be greatly interesting (though, I guess that would more belong on the vehicles subforum...). However, more casual, every-day clothing and, in the event of a more broad-spectrum "Rockstar hipster" scope, retro 60s-80s fashion would fit. Especially now that we've got KITT and DeLorean look-alikes lurking in every corner of the city, and aeronautical icons of many post-Vietnam action films filling the skies. And housing? Houses in Mirror Park! Little bungalows all over that place, and it's in a decent location now that East Los Santos is pocked with I/E garages and warehouses. Too, it's a short drive to Vinewood and even shorter to the Land Act reservoir, where the facility closest to the city lies. Makes sense, but is it what Rockstar would do at this point of big spending? Hmm.

If we get mansions, the best upgrade for security I can think of is a pack of pitbull terriers. Imagine for an extra million or so we could buy a pack that roams the grounds and can be set to attack intruders (think yacht defenses meets the gang member recruitment from SA). Would probably need instanced island properties for something like that though. I would definitely settle for the ability to own a single dog or to have them as sentinels guarding the interior of your luxury mansion. Adding Animal Ark as a place to buy pets of any kind would be just as cool, I'd get either a cat or a pet cougar. What is the likelihood of something even remotely close to this ever happening? Seems more likely/possible than them adding all the SP wild animals to GTAO probably..
