The only way I see it making financial sense is if they roll out a paid add-on to single player which has some modest amount of content - 10 hours of new missions or something - and then the typical ball-breaking in Online to get the new vehicles and stuff.

Agreed, but from my understanding both TLAD & BoGT underperformed (I won't be surprised if MCLA: SC was too), which kinda explains R*'s reluctance to do a paid dlc.

The amount of military DLC wishlisting is making people convinced that a nautical DLC has to be military in theme, I think, and I'm really, really tired of the military stuff. Minus SVC in March of last year, every update was military themed in some way. Obviously a nautical DLC doesn't have to be military themed but the chances of a potential nautical DLC being like a Miami Vice/Vice City tribute with cigarette boats and such feels low to me

I hear you. If it was a huge DLC, I could imagine some sort of water-based MOC, or maybe they could add a yacht that acts like one. I feel like that would be sort of inevitable anyway, even if something like that shows up in a different update other than a nautical one. Overall I agree that if they did add an update like that, it would more than likely have at least some military equipment thrown in.

Out of curiosity where is this rumor of the remaining hipster cars coming from?, Who said that there are more INAH2 Vehicles left yet to be released? It keeps getting mentioned and you're not the first one I have seen say it.

Most of the Doomsday drip feed was obviously part of the supposed INAH2 update or at least had some sort of part in it. If INAH2 is still supposed to come out sometime in the future, there's definitely more retro/vintage cars coming with it.

We're getting something or we're not. It's gonna be a small DLC or it's gonna be YUUUUUGEEEEEE! There might be boats or mansions or JDM cars or muscle cars, most likely cars and 32% chance of rain.

You are talking completely out of your ass here. Rockstar never said they planned to end the updates, that's just constant speculation among players. As long as the game is making loads of money, they have a strong incentive to keep maintaining it - there's a reason "games as a service" is so trendy. Publishers love years of reliable income over years of racking up losses while hoping that next big title is successful.

 

As for RDR2, it might kill GTA. Or it might not. We don't know how popular its online will be, or even what it will be like yet. We also don't know how much overlap there is between the two player bases exactly. If people keep playing GTA and buying shark cards, updates for years to come is not out of the question.

I'll be buying RDR2, but personally I doubt I'll put nearly as much play time into RDR2 as I did with GTA Online. As long as GTA Online continues to bring in constant revenue, Rockstar will continue with updates, although at a slower pace once RDR2 releases.

ill defo get rdr2 because, well R* but i dont see myself clocking thousands of hours like i have done with gtao.

 

as for updates, i think gtao would get the backseat for first few weeks after the release of rdr, the size of future dlcs could depend on how rdr performs(saleswise), if gains momentum, we may see gtao get basic content updates like in the old days, just enough to keep it alive.

I think the usual December update will be the first DLC for RDRO.

If you think that R* is going to favor RDR over GTA that month, you're clearly mistaken.

GTA is their biggest cash cow. They've been releasing big updates for the past 3 Decembers in a row for it, and they won't stop until they announce GTA VI.

 

 

 

Said this before, but I could care less what the next theme is as long as the cars are good again.

As long as they don't dripfeed boring sh*t like planes, helis or boats without any special features, I don't care what we get either.

Smugglers Run dripfeed felt like an eternity since the only worthwhile stuff was near the butt end of it.

I would say that the only substantial difference between cars and unarmed planes in terms of entertainment would be a metter of personal preference, and it would be a bit extreme to objectively define it as "boring sh*t". If I may ask, why do you believe that cars are the only vehicles that should be added as dripfeed content?

 

You don't think getting 7 planes in a row is boring?

They had the most interesting stuff like the Nokota, Vigilante, and Hunter at the absolute end.

 

Some of those planes weren't even weaponized! Or were pure sh*t in the Bombuskov's case

 

Cars meanwhile there is something for every one, especially in Doomsday's case.

Most players don't care for aircraft. And it shows. Release them all at the start then dripfeed cars to fill the gap between DLCs

To be honest I don't really see the issue of getting unarmed aircrafts, even during dripfeed. Objectively speaking, getting new unarmed aircrafts that look and perform differently than the old ones is not different from getting new and unarmed land vehicles that look and perform differently.

In addition, as far as I've seen, the majority of the people here have actually been complaining about the huge amount of military content we've recently, which would make unarmed aircrafts a pretty welcomed addition.

I also disagree about how a vehicle's position in the dripfeed order should affect its popularity, as many of the very first vehicles released (including the Mogul and the Bombushka) were actually some of the most heavily advertised, and the overpriced but easily available in FZ P-996 Lazer has most likely not been a huge success while being the very last vehicle.

Finally, whether or not the majority (or a large amount) of the playerbase cares about new aircrafts is something that's not easy to estabilish but as far I've seen, Smuggler's Run didn't really receive many complaints when It came to vehicles (other than the inclusion of some of the most iconic ones as part of the dripfeed, that is).

Very unlikely. It will probably be launched next Thursday. If I do remember correctly, they've never released a trailer in the same week of the last drip fed vehicle.

 

Yes they did with Gunrunning after the release of Ocelot Ardent they released the trailer of Smuggler's Run on Thursday so it is possible to drop a trailer today too

Why is everyone so sure that R* will upload a trailer. They can easily make a bigger newswire with update stuff and maybe RDR2 news tied into, so they don't need to bring a trailer since the update will be smaller anyway.
