It's closer to 17%. And no single option got more than 48%, and this is a single-choice poll so we're really not getting any sense of what percentage of people would like that update or not - just that 48% or so prefer tuners over any other option to come NEXT, and after tuners there is no clear second place winner.

 

What you're basically saying here is that if there was a poll of "what is your favorite food?" and the choices were pizza, burgers, fries, tacos and subs, and tacos came in third with 17% of the vote, that only 17% of people actually like or want to eat tacos. Which is nonsense if you think about how the poll was conducted. Just because people love pizza (tuners) doesn't mean they wouldn't be happy to get tacos for dinner soon.

 

Also, when I said a "bunch of people," I meant people replying to the thread, not the poll. But 17% of this poll is still 76 people, apparently. That's a pretty solid number right there.

Honestly I'd be happy with any of them except military, which I am burned out on. My take is that more stuff is almost always good, even if it's not the favorite item on my personal wishlist. I've gotten some enjoyment out of most of the updates and bought stuff from all of them. But out of this set, something nautical is my favorite. It's a woefully underutilized area of the game, and we have sh*tloads of cars already; I can wait on tuners.

@Nutduster, Well said sir, but I respectfully disagree with the statement that "Nothing wrong with basing your impression of the franchise on the only games that came out in the last decade (or on the most recent two generations of hardware, for that matter)", holding your singular experience that you gained when you were 10 as the definitive view of what GTA HAS to be for a decade is a problem. The way you percieve things when you are ten is obviously way different from twenty, somewhere in that decade, you would challenge your perspective or research it at least, especially if it says "part 4" on the cover of the box.(obviously not YOU, hope that's clear)

 

Also, saying the 3d universe is ancient history is just a degree away from saying it doesn't matter at all. Any other situation beyond frivolous video game preferences, this position is labeled an uninformed opinion. There's that saying, "all things considered", people who ignore all factors beyond their experience when they were ten with the fourth game out of 7 (8?) aren't considering anything, they aren't giving an informed opinion.

 

I absolutely accept people have different parameters for this series. But if we set the parameters at realistic it becomes limiting. Look at kill frenzies, They don't exist anymore because its a bit too real in this day and age. To get that GTA experience you have to play as Trevor, who has a narrative and dialogue To inform the audience that he is a sociopath, then the people he kills are armed enemies as opposed to just random civilians. Saying, "don't limit this games potential" doesn't stop anyone from playing it in a more realistic manner

I'm probably wrong, but I think the next DLC we'll get in the next few weeks will be the Special Vehicle Races Part 2. Maybe some 'new' adversary modes, but nothing much else (maybe the wireframe bodysuits).

 

The big summer DLC would then come out 2-3 months later, with Hipsters on weaponised surfboards in a mansion's swimming pool... or whatever. With realistic steaks.

Smugglers Run dripfeed felt like an eternity since the only worthwhile stuff was near the butt end of it.

I would say that the only substantial difference between cars and unarmed planes in terms of entertainment would be a metter of personal preference, and it would be a bit extreme to objectively define it as "boring sh*t". What i beleive fenniken is referring to is that most of us almost died in blueball anticipation for the long awaited hunter in smugglers run. Some dropped the game over it. The argument is any "big ticket item" or item that the majority of the playerbase is going to obsess over should not be at the end of our patience stick, especially if they tease it in the missions of the game like smugglers run did an "excellent" job of.

If you think that R* is going to favor RDR over GTA that month, you're clearly mistaken.

GTA is their biggest cash cow. They've been releasing big updates for the past 3 Decembers in a row for it, and they won't stop until they announce GTA VI.

You don't think getting 7 planes in a row is boring?

They had the most interesting stuff like the Nokota, Vigilante, and Hunter at the absolute end.

 

Some of those planes weren't even weaponized! Or were pure sh*t in the Bombuskov's case

 

Cars meanwhile there is something for every one, especially in Doomsday's case.

Most players don't care for aircraft. And it shows. Release them all at the start then dripfeed cars to fill the gap between DLCs

Unless they plan on at least doubling the amount of cars released in Part 2 it wouldn't be big enough to be it's own update. For example: If they combined the rest of the vehicles from INAH2 that we didn't get in Doomsday with the new races it would probably be enough to justify it's own update.

Its a matter of a personal opinion, I get what you are saying & I've been there before, multiple dripfeds came & went with nothing in it for me. But I'll be lying if I told you Smuggler's Run was one of them. I was looking forward to the Howard & Seabreeze more so than the mighty Hunter. I believe I eventually bought all the dripfeed planes save for Mogul.

You guys forget that it isn't just the cars in a supposed INAH update. There's plenty of potential clothing options that could come with this update as well. Judging from what Yan said months ago, I'm not sure how fully baked this update was supposed tobe.

Their incentive to add anything bigger than the kind of stuff they've been adding is really low. People keep playing and keep buying shark cards. The only way I see it making financial sense is if they roll out a paid add-on to single player which has some modest amount of content - 10 hours of new missions or something - and then the typical ball-breaking in Online to get the new vehicles and stuff.
