Next DLC Speculation Thread (Part 4)

I better start the long, hard grind now so I have enough to get whatever I want on release day. This is also the first update where I won't be spending for 2 characters as I retired my second character for the time being. Very excited for the theme if Yan is serious, sounds like it has the potential to be quite an eclectic mixture of vehicles... I'm not even too annoyed that there will be more weaponized vehicles either, if predictions about 20-30 vehicles is accurate there will be plenty of room left for odd and rare choices (hopefully). It being teased as Hipsters 2.0 has me fairly optimistic!

I honestly think the weaponized vehicles could be boats what other land vehicles could they add?

 

A flying Deluxo with built in pea shooters?

 

I'd prefer a normal one, but at this point it wouldn't be a surprise to see it.

I do think that we could eventually get a flying car that actually flies and doesn't just rocket launch itself off ramps or glide like the Oppressor.

 

Honestly, it would be utterly ridiculous, but then with the gliding rocket bike, a jumping Knight Rider, and a Batmobile, I don't think it would be the worst thing to finally receive a completely aerial car, especially in the form of a Deluxo. It would, after all, be the best possible option to get it. As some form of an upgrade, preferably, and completely unarmed on both variants.

What makes you so sure R* will release a vehicle on the 31st? Unless the Vigilante doesn't count as part of the update?Im pretty sure they didnt release a vehical on the 24th because the vigilante was coming out a few days later. Idk why they came out with it on Friday instead either the 24th or the 31st, maybe because it was too early/too late to release Halloween content? Anyways I hope they come out with something on the 31st

ok every time I hear of a sea update I think of what r* said when the smugglers runs dlc was released Ever been told the sky is the limit? Well, not anymore. Its time to elevate your criminal empire, taking your assets and your profits in the only direction left to go: straight up.. Now Im probably overlooking this quote, but when I saw it at first I thought that this was going to be our last business style update. Only recently it was confirmed that its not unfortunately, but still idk sea based content are coming out anytime soon. Nobody cared about boats, why would r* make a dlc based on something nobody likes.

Bearing in mind the amount of doubling down on the same well-worn areas R* does, there's absolutely zero reason why they'd look at Gunrunning ('land') and Smuggler's Run ('air'), and follow up with 'sea' for the next set of weaponised stuff. Not least because ...technically, the first lot of stuff like that was with Import/Export, with the special vehicles (also largely 'land'). so it's not like there's even really a pattern...

But yeah, besides that, if R* actually cared about covering all niches like that, we wouldn't be in the position where it's become a running joke about how every update pops out new supercars, would it?

 

 

Frankly, I think the Vigilante might be more of an indication of what to expect - not the superficial 'Batman' veneer, but more the fact that it combines bits of previous special vehicles, like R*'s trying to fine-tune the formula of 'stuff that sold well in previous updates'. Or something like that.

However, that would be so stupid on Rockstars part. Who the hell cares about a game that came out in 2011 and doesnt even look that great in the re-rendered version?

 

Thats a silly reason to skip a week of GTA drip feed. The people who are going to buy LA Noire on Nov 14th arent going to not buy it because of a one vehicle release on a different game.

It's not about what people think of the game, it's what Rockstar likes to do.. draw attention to something whenever they're doing something new.

 

Even though people may not buy it when it releases, they wouldn't draw attention away from a new product of theirs and release something in their most popular title to date on the same day.

 

It doesn't make sense from a marketing or business perspective at all.

I hope the new weaponized vehicles include a Humvee. There are Humvees with missile launchers on them in real life, so it could be another option for AA missiles besides the AA trailer.

If we ever get a sea update, I hope we get a REAL amphibious vehicle. Not anything weaponized. I'd just like a car that can drive across water, is usable in Heists, and can hold 4 people.... cause f*ck that driving around the Alamo Sea for like 10 Heist missions

The Lotus Esprit for one, and the classic Aston Martin.

Both of those cars are pretty well known, I wouldn't call a car that was featured in a James Bond film obscure, nor a car that had a 10,000 strong production run.

 

Head into a random GTA Online session and ask the lobby what a Lotus Esprit is. Then proceed to ask said lobby what a Bugatti Veyron is. Once you have done this, come back to me and share the results. In GTA terms, the Esprit is an obscure vehicle, the same goes for the V8 Vantage. I stand by my original statement.

 

Also, I find that the Ardent takes it's inspiration from the Esprit from "If looks could kill". After all, the Ardent is based on a 90's Esprit, and not the 76' model.

Weaponized vehicles have been around since GTA 2.

Yes the armed land rover with a minigun and the tank in gta 2. Meanwhile gta online has 18 weaponized vehicles excluding the 20 weaponized aircrafts. So gta online has 38 weaponized vehicles. Of course I'm including the ones rockstar still has locked behind the dripfeed. It also doesn't include the weaponized vehicles that are going to be in next update.

 

Do weaponized vehicles belong in gta? Yes in singleplayer where there balanced not in gta online where there not balanced.

 

 

 

What are they datamining for info again about next update? I swear its like they take turns on who tells us stuff about updates. Always talking about this stuff to get people "hyped" early about next update. Since guessing info from a "leaker" is a more fun way to pass time than waiting for dripfeed schedule. None of those numbers fall on a Tuesday either. The 2 days that do are the 6th and the 13th for February 2018

 

Here wan't some legit info about the next update? There are going to be 4 new adversary modes in it no one asked for and 3 months of dripfeed for vehilces we can't get without buying the new business (property) first.
