Next DLC Speculation Thread (Part 4)

It's obvious that whatever future content Rockstar is hinting on will be the second iteration of Gunrunning because, well, it's their biggest cashgrab DLC yet and they won't stop milking every single drop out of it.

Wooow how mature...

lets do it this way then:

I'm not rly a car guy, I like classic cars and stuff but I don't rly enjoy those ugly supers and I think we had more then enough by this point... But do you see me complaining every time when someone mentions a super car in here? No? Never?

and what about boats? They are rly slow and pointless right but do I bitch about boats when someone mentions a new one? Nope. I wouldn't mind a free dlc about super fast boats (with jet engines on the back) and some missions in the sea

You know whats the difference?

when I see something I don't enjoy I simply scroll down and I don't start crying like a little baby cause I think I'm a f*ckin showflake and "I don't want it so nonone should have it!!!!"

I know people enjoy different stuff so I let them say whatever they want without complaining for no reason like a kid. I not gonna hunt someone just because he likes scooters or fast cars cause I know im not the center of the world - something you guys should learn before someone let you use internet...

edit:

It's funny to see those guys rage... they complain and complain but they never do anything more to contribute in here.

we can read about "nightclubs" "human trafficking" "clubs" "casinos" "pets" and all that crap on every single page in this thread and YET they get triggered only when someone says "helicopter"

edit2:

and you guys should rly start counting how many likes we are getting with this heli "torture" talk vs how many likes (and ban warnings) you are getting with your hate. Maybe then you guys will understand that you are speaking only for yourself?

So maybe stop acting like you are "saving everyone from this unspeakable torture" when you are the minority in here.

Don't forget there's still a not-released vehicle warehouse, a building near Benny's which gives a notification like 'only accessible with vehicle cargo or special vehicle'..

Or is that notification patched?

but this the speculation thread, they have a whole thread to discuss heli to death...im tired of seeing it bright up in every single thread

we are speculating the next update here is thats ok, thats why I open this thread, to read about new leaks, speculation etc

Having a helicopter thread doesn't preclude people from discussing helicopters in this thread, much like the vehicle speculation topic doesn't mean people can't speculate about vehicles in this topic. The only time it derails this thread is when people spend pages complaining about a single helicopter post - which is dumb because there's no problem with posts mentioning helicopters if they're on topic.

If you're finding posts off topic then report them, otherwise I think it'd be good for everyone if this slow-motion derailing righted itself ;)

So are we getting a Smuggler's Run update where we can also own and customize helicopters/planes?

Stop talking helis and start talking about aliens.

I think that Rockstar will recover the ideas about the "canceled" Alien story mode DLC.

With all of those checked off the list and done to death (fetch quests) I guess It would make sense for a tuners update that included the classic Nirto Boost. A LSPD update that let you be an officer and arrest NPCs and possibly other actual criminal rival players. That's the thing about the LSPD update its way too predictable, dress up as a cop, drive the cop cars and seize drugs from NPCs its all the same sh*t we've been doing for years already. Rockstar really shot themselves in the foot multiple times with all the updates being the same thing over and over that now if we got an LSPD update it would be BORING as all hell and mission wise be exactly like the other organization oriented updates. On the other hand I would still like to see really large mansions for sale that have hot tubs with candles all around and big chandeliers in the living room. Oh and a beach house where I can see my yacht when I look out towards the water.

If they add the ability to play as a cop, maybe they'll give you much better money for taking out sell missions for businesses or bunkers, and maybe also give you money for killing players going psycho or something like that.

Two things:

They can do a lot more in Freemode than just yet more 'pick up _____, deliver _____'. A Nightlife thing themed around The Ballad of Gay Tony could easily copy that game's little side activities, such as dealing with troublemakers, maybe the fun

turned into a multiplayer version, and even do its own version of delivery stuff, by simply adapting all those jobs like 'delivering stuff to a celebrity client', 'driving a guest to/from the club', 'getting someone out while avoiding the paparazzi', etc. All it takes is a bit of imagination.

Or, if the future of Freemode is literally just more 'delivery gopher' work, they can still do more with it - I'm imagining that a smuggling thing might involve a mix of contraband, and I've long thought a bootlegging thing might be fun, where the backbone of the update is truck convoys. R* likes classic car movie references, so how about an update with trucking, muscle, tuners, etc., that mixes up escorting convoys:

pontiac6ig2.9206.jpg

...with hijacking them:

i003716.jpg

Maybe even throw in some creative ways to distract the cops while you're at it:

blues-brothers1.png

...and you're golden - that's the basis of a broad-appeal (provided they mix it up a bit with the cars...), memorable update. Make it so there's actually some stuff to do in private sessions this time (even if that means the payouts can't compete with the likes of Import/Export work), and I'd imagine a lot of people would enjoy the heck out of it.

Which, of course, is why something like that will never, ever happen.

Like I said, with all of the updates listed being traffic this and stock up on that I always look forward to the next update being something DIFFERENT. It never is though. It's so painful that every update is the same f*cking concept down to the bone. Buy this new property so you can do these supply runs so you can sell them for profit. Rinse and repeat so you can buy this new supercar and special vehicle. That formula was boring 2 years ago and it needs to completely f*ck off forever. I want to see some new heists, survivals and contacts and missions. I know that any one of us here could think of 5 solid new heists that are all original and badass. Just imagine what the Prison Break heist would have been like if the prison had an interior lunckroom area where you have to spot Rashkovsky and sit down and plan out his escape from the inside and another player was a prison guard watching over. But no we got this lazy ass prison heist where the whole thing takes place outside with no suspense at all. We didn't bust him out of prison with him caged behind bars. We shot up some rangers and NOOSE and simply escorted him through the prison yard and he walked out of there. Next time I want to see actually good heists that don't get overshadowed by how they could have been better if done differently. I think it's so ironic that rockstar spent so much time making them and ended up creating the most underwhelming heists possible. None of them will be remembered, they were not. that. good. Its in the bunker in the storage area in every bunker. It looks like a (badly) covered up doorway to me. Maybe its an entrance to a bunkergarage that gets added with a future dlc. What do you think?

Well, it's a big tease if it's nothing.

About that door, there was a good speculation though:

What would r* put in addition to a shooting range? A vehicle testing range? A swimming pool to test out new scuba gear? A pressurized pipeline that takes you anywhere in the underground? A place to inflate your blimp? Lol i can't picture an addition to a shooting range. I think that's just where the tier 3 unlocks are stored, like the unused door behind our secretaries.

You can park any personal vehicle in there, it's just a temporary parking spot tho.

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised that R* didn't release a garage with Gunrunning so that we'd lose money selling cars to make place for the new ones (for those like me who are maxed on space), then they'll add one later and that money will be gone forever.

^ Yeah they did the same thing with the offices. At first olno garagespace for them, but then they added it with I/E.

@ Heis3nberg

Yea but this is a diffrent door. The thing in my picture is in the cargo storage area that is in every bunker no matter what additions you choose not in the shooting range.

@ Rollschuh

You can "park" it inside your bunker, just like any other PV it gets parked in BAY 1 right next to your caddys.

By the way thats another thing: BAY 1.

Why call it Bay 1if there is no Bay 2 or Bay 3?

@ Hunter

Well it definitly has to be "something". Its not one of these roof stabikisation things since it does not reach high enough up.

GTA ONLINE DLC won't be slowing up any time soon.. If a stale DLC like GUNRUNNING can break records, imagine if we get MAP EXPANSION!!!

Well, I don't see map expansion happening - not even a polished-up version of Liberty City from IV. That's just too much work for too little financial return - heck, single-player DLC on the current map would likely not be as lucrative as just 'more GTAO updates', so an entire new map, but without the 'entire new game' to go with it? Not likely, because not worth the effort/investment, in Take Two's eyes.

Definitely think that means that 2018 is safely in the bag for another year of updates - and quite possibly into 2019, too. At the very least, I'd say that means we can probably expect similar to this year - i.e., the 2017-2018 update calendar is probably going to look something like this:

Fall 2017: Fuller-sized update (Gunrunning 2/Smuggling?)

Winter '17: Full-size update

Spring 2018: 'Filler' content, possibly recycling assets (see also: Be My Valentine, Lowriders: Custom Classics, Special Vehicle Circuit)

Summer '18: Full-size update

Fall '18: Fuller-sized update

Winter '18: Full-size update

2019: ...who knows? Maybe by then, we'll be hearing the first official rumblings about GTA VI - and of course, we'll have a better idea as to what R*'s long-term plans are for RDR2, and if there's still a need to have GTAO 1.0 updates in development to give R*/T-T a steady revenue stream.

(one thing that does amuse me, though, about 'June/July experiencing the highest levels of player engagement in GTAO so far' - if that's 'time spent playing', I wonder if all those folk rubber-banding their controllers and leaving the game run overnight might have artificially boosted those numbers somewhat... :p)

why are we talking about helis again guys?

at this rate id rather you guys go back to cannibals and human trafficking :bored:

so right now is the community purely speculating? or have there been any leaks or hints at the next update? any holidays coming up?

is there any hope for animals one day???

Yeah i'm sure it would be better for you if we started to speculate about saggy pants, lowriders and goldchains but some people love other stuff... so no reason to get salty.

About the thread i think Gunrunning definitely has a part 2 coming and it would be an idiot's move not to release the Hunter then.

Just thinking a $20-60 map expansion sold to nearly everyone playing gta online...would be a huge profit. Not getting my hopes up. I just feel the whole Open IV thing and them being forced to ditch LC may have been a clue. Maybe not. If not, another year of updates. Like I said b4, grown tired of new cars and air vehicles. Not even interested in mansions, although a beach house would be neat. I would rather have my characters twerk than 20 new super cars. But for every player like me, getting tired of the game, a new player will be there to buy a copy with a shark card. Here's hoping Rockstar will surprise us someday.

Since GTA online isn't ending anytime soon The chances of Liberty city is high

It would be nice to get that, at the very least.

It'd be nice, and it'd be marginally easier than doing an entire new map from scratch, but it's still a huge task - there's a whole lot of stuff that needs to be updated to bring GTA IV's Liberty City into line with the standards of GTA V's Los Santos. GTAO benefits from effectively 'inheriting' that from V - everything from NPC pedestrian/traffic pathways, the actual pedestrians themselves (because so many of V's NPCs aren't just generic, but often represent specific LS businesses, communities, etc., R* would need to do a lot of the same to fit LC), etc.

Beyond that, there's all the interactive features - there'd need to be missions, races, safehouses, ATMs, all handled to the same level as V, and in such a way as to be compatible with Online. On top of that, every nook and cranny of the map would need a texture update, again to ensure parity with GTA V visual standards on both console and PC.

...and then there's justifying the effort financially - if it's free, that's a lot of work that isn't going to pay for itself (not unless the price of an airline ticket to/from each city is $1 million or something...). If it's paid content, most people simply won't pay, and then that's the player base split - and if the proportion of people who do pay is anything like the proportion of folks who bought TBoGT and TLaD for GTA IV, that's likely not a huge percentage.

Really, the only likely way we'd see anything resembling map expansion is ...with a new GTA, and all that same effort on visuals and detail justified by the single-player. And in that instance, it's most likely that R* wouldn't make it possible to take your character back and forth (certainly not with money/cars), because they'd probably want players to jump ship to the new game, rather than stay on GTA V/Online 1.0.

In short? LC is probably ...never - or any new cities, for that matter. And when GTA VI comes, basic business sense suggests that R* will probably stop ongoing support for GTAO at some point before VI, either to free up the R* North team (very likely), or again, just so GTA VI sales/player numbers don't suffer by VI having to compete with V, and players who don't feel they need to 'upgrade' to the new game.

That's the issue, that without map addition it may not last until 2019. I moved from 360 to One then to PC and every step was rewarded with new experience beyond content additions: better graphics, new animations, first person, 60 fps, etc. Unless this thing will be VR-friendly, I can speculate that most old timers will quit until 2019 and I will be there too. GTA is my favorite franchise, it's the thing I grew up with, no exaggeration, but I will be looking for new experience. Forza Horizon is already attracting peaceful organized crews with focus on racing and cruising and until 2019 there will be at least one new iteration of Horizon. I'm already splitting my time with Project cars and with version 2 around the corner and new wheel almost in the mail it's the matter of time I will log on just occasionally. My regular fire team is back at Dirt Rally, constantly bugging me to race with them. The bang from GR was bright, but fast, since we already had similar experience with Heist vehicles.

It's only my opinion and speculation, but it looks like GR was made by different developers led by different marketing team with different goals in mind. As you have mentioned, time spent playing was possibly influenced by research and the increase will look nice on reports.
