And here is the other thing. Let's say that add a small piece like Yankton (that really isn't developed in any detail, at least from what we have seen) but they don't add new activities on this new piece. Is that really going to appease people for very long?

 

Let me write the next complaint for map expansion guy if this were to happen:

 

"Great. f*cki#g C* makes us wait 3 1/2 years before expanding the map and they give us nothing to do over there. gg C*. What a waste!!"

Where is that single player DLC they announced when the game first came out?

I'm still hoping for it, and I believe it'll be coupled with an online map expansion, because the story mode portion will probably be based around the new map while still including San Andreas.

Some people think my hopes for this game are ridiculous, but it's a gold mine, and a paid DLC has been on their minds for awhile, especially since the numbers show that GTA Online is still going strong after three years. Why would Rockstar pass on the potential opportunity to profit beyond shark card sales?

Map expansion. Prepare for a major letdown when that never happens.

Because it makes ZERO sense (and some of us are getting tired of the constant demands for it). Why don't you write Rock Star repeatedly since they have the power to do it instead of constantly posting with some third party hoping that they will see it..

Zero sense? Far from it. And I have already expressed my interest to Rockstar like many others. Last time I checked, this is a speculation thread, but for some reason, you have this attitude that your speculation somehow supercedes everyone else's, as if you're somebody special.

What you are really asking for is a brand new "mini-game." Why would Rock Star do that for a 3 1/2 year old game (for free since they don't charge for the DLC's) instead of just making a whole new game? Oh that's right, they wouldn't. Especially when they are making bank off DLC's that require substantially less work. Someone is indeed being ridiculous, but it isn't me.

 

Might be time to admit that, at least for you, you have exhausted your entertainment value in GTA V/Online and move on. Nothing wrong with that, the game is 3 1/2 years old. But you ain't getting a map expansion, so don't get all worked up over it (if i am wrong, I will take my helping of crow).

I'd be really surprised if they didn't add the new Progen with the next update. By the time they get a screenshot up the car isn't usually far behind, and cars are a reliable source of revenue for them so it's good insurance for any dlc. Have they ever released dlc without a new car?

If I am not mistaken, NW post didn't mention races for Wastelander or Ramp Car. Not saying there won't be races for those cars, but there might not be.

They did twice. Catpure/Holiday Gifts and Freemode Events/Rockstar Editor.

I need a new car. SV races alone will be underwhelming IMO, but if they even just added the GP1 it would tide me over until the classics release..

I thought it was gonna come with the Progen GP1 and the classics (turismo and infernus).

Lol you don't realize how hard/difficult it is to make a new map expansion don't you?

It would probably break the game code/severely damage many portions of Online if they added a new map, unless they do it like how it was done way back in San Andreas and let us go there via a short airplane cutscene like in the beginning of online, but even then it would take up do much space with just the map alone. That's not even including the extra actors, scripts, missions, places, activities .etc This would almost certainly be a paid DLC, and i'm pretty sure that in this point except for the diehard R* fans, no one is really willing to shell out $30-$60 for a map.

I actually believe that Rockstar watches some of Jay Leno's videos. For example, the Mercedes 300 SL was uploaded, and some time later, the Stirling GT became a thing. Same counts for other cars, too.

Adding new cosmetic items to spawn, such as maps, doesn't break scripts. You're talking out your butt - Just saying.

Isn't there a popular rumor that Rockstar planned on including San Ferrio and Las Venturas for the games original release in 2013 but the PS3/XBOX 360 could not handle that capacity? So the rumor goes that Rockstar has been working on upgrading those two maps for the current generation consoles and PC; possibly for GTA Online/single player DLC. The maps are supposed to cost the full price of a game ($60) if this is true.

 

Aside from that when I think of "Map Expansion" I look at the map we already have. Its focus is on southern San Andreas so it makes me speculate that we only have 33% or 1/3 of what rockstar intended GTA Vs map to be. This is how I feel. If the rumors are true than we are just one year away from getting the answers (and content) we seek. 2017 seems to be planned out already for GTA Online and we have a lot to look forward to from rockstars announcements.

Me personally, I would not hesitate to pay rockstar another $60 for even one of these maps.

I would love for the community to graduate from 'southern san andreas' and explore geography that's NEW and exciting (and FLASHY)

Bringing all of our special vehicles and pegasus toys along for the ride. I could write an essay on why a map expansion is very likely.

But if you mirror the north yankton map its made up of a bunch of roads from the vinewood hills area. Its like the beginning of gta 3 where it has the bank heist in the beginning. Its not a real map none of the map is solid outside the small area the mission takes place in.

@ Xiled, that was exactly my point. People keep suggesting that North Yankton is basically finished. It isn't. A few scenes (that did look very familiar) were cropped together for basically what was little more than a demo. I unfortunately played that opening several times because of some issue with online early, and there was no map there to run around and explore.

 

@Dust_69. I would love to see that essay. Probably would be about 6 words. A new map where you can bring stuff you already purchased, for example, sounds like a GTA fan wet dream. Their whole secondary sale market was based on drip feeding vehicles that could be bought, to include stuff that appeared in previous iterations of GTA. When they do finally release another GTA Online component, expect that very same business model to be applied when you start from scratch and are again buying some of the very same vehicles you already bought for V. People are letting their wishes over ride basic logic and common sense (or they just refuse to analyze this in terms of good fiscal business for RS).

 

@MGgames last person I remember talking about those maps being started was SS (full name won't be said of that wish lister here). There have been other unsubstantiated internet rumors, but I have googled this and RS has not come close to saying anything about other maps being developed. If I am wrong, someone please correct me. Given the work and detail that goes into these maps, if this wasn't started a while ago, it seems far fetched to think it is coming for a 3 1/2 year old game (I suppose RS could have been working on it and keeping it under wraps, but for the other reasons discussed here, it makes no sense). People are really setting themselves up for disappointment here IMO...

I never said nor ever expected Rockstar to offer a *free* online map expansion/story mode DLC. I always stated that it would only make sense for it to be a paid expansion. That's why I said earlier that the potential profits are there waiting for them. Again, it's a gold mine, and if GTA VI is still three years away, we just might see them dabble in an online map expansion/story mode DLC to test the waters and make a ton of cash. It's not far-fetched from a business standpoint.

Again, I already said numerous times that it would be a paid DLC. It's like nobody reads posts completely around here. I never said it would be free like the rest.

Where on earth is that supposed to be in Vinewood Hills??? You marked it and said 'Look Familiar' but there's no comparison, and no it doesn't look familiar lol. I can't remember anywhere that looks like that, and I've spent quite a bit of time looking on maps in this game...
