I doubt they'll be playing anything from FlyLo FM or Soulwax FM or Worldwide FM or East Los Santos FM

That was my point. For all of Online, going back to Trevor Contact Missions, we've been against the Lost. With Heists, we furthered that with Trevor, again. With Bikers, we are supposed to be direct competitors in the drug peddling business.

 

It's the same with Merryweather. We've been against them this whole time, so at no point whatsoever, will we ever be working with them. Gunrunning won't involve us working with Merryweather.

Look at your post again. You said "we wont work WITH them" and this is wrong since they offer us their services. You never said "working for them" and even this would not be thiat unrealistic.

this update isn't going to be mad max, it's going to be prototype armored vehicles. (think the tank from Furious 8)

In my opinion, we could potentially work with MerryWeather, but probably not. I think instead, we'll be stealing guns and vehicles off them (don't forget in the Heist they have a Valkyrie, and in another set up they send Savages after you).Possibly we could also steal some stuff off the actual military/guys at Zancudo, but that'd be pretty difficult.

 

All just my vibes though.

Have they EVER added a completely new group in an update?

 

Since they mentioned militiaS - plural - that means there will HAVE to be player owned ones, since merryweather is the only one in-game currently. Unless they plan on breaking their streak of only using groups that already exist.

The possibility is extremely low to non-existent there'll be map expansions for GTA V. There's a greater possibility for something like this in RDR2 or GTA VI; but even then the possibility would be low.

 

It's also possible the next DLC will be about Japanese schoolgirls chasing down senpais. You cannot say for sure that is never going to happen, it is a possibility after all.

Take Two Interactive said they hit 80M copies sold and despite being a 3 year old game continuously break projected earnings, here's the exciting part... that players should expect to receive much more content for GtaOnline!

 

So, that says to me the budgeting is there for a map expansion if they and a Rockstar are making so much bank off the title and although it's a tall ask it's a doable one.

As someone who spends a lot of time tinkering with the inner workings of this game, I can assure you that a map expansion is not gonna happen. You're more likely to be struck by lightning.

A map expansion is doable no doubt but is it feasible? With the current version of Online and GTAV, I think not. Not only would it be a paid expansion but also something Rockstar would be much more likely to do for the next iteration of GTA/GTA Online, given the massive complexity of GTA's open worlds.

 

If they're going to work on creating new areas to explore in a GTA world, you better believe they'll do it the right way and not just as a tacked on expansion to an already gorgeous and massive world.

I think you do not understand GTA Onlines position in R*s portfolio.

 

It is not a game like World Of Warcraft but rather a bridge to Rockstar Games next big game.

Back then Rockstar Games had the problem that between the times their GTA games were developed, they couldn't hold revenue, refer to GTA IV and EFLC. Thus investors were not as satisfied as Rockstar/Take Two had no continues Revenue stream.

But now Rockstar Games came up with GTA Online, they have a continued revenue stream to bridge the gap between their big releases. The point being that they use few resources for GTA Onlines support(about a quarter of Rockstar Norths team at the moment) and focus all their other resources onto future projects, such as Red Dead Redemption 2, Bully 2 and the next GTA game.

This also allows them to take as much time as they need with their title releases, the last Red dead Redemption was released during development hell and according to developers it was still kind of unfinished, but they had to release it eventually as they needed the revenue. Now they can delay their flagship title for another 6 months and investors will not bother as GTA Online is still available.

 

As funmw2 allready correctly pointed out, it would be pretty stupid to put all resources into GTA Online, then there is clearly no need to.

Only thing I could see make it into the game apart from GTA Online Updates, would be the Singleplayer DLC as that is allready 70% done, and would come handy to make use of the christmas period this year.

They are NOT going to expand the Los Santos map for free. Anyone desperately clinging to this hope is setting themselves up to be disappointed.

 

Now, whether other cities one day get added to Los Santos online, that is another matter. It wouldn't surprise me if RS has discussed this and isn't quite sure the direction online will take in the future.

Are you suggesting that they might charge for the SP DLC or you think they will just do it because they are really nice people? The reason we haven't seen it thus far is because much less work is going into very profitable online DLC's. They aren't running a 501© charity over there. Just sayn'...
