Well, R* clearly thinks it's worth doing throwbacks to the pre-GTA IV games, so...

 

This whole thing basically feels like what happens when decades of separate creative decisions suddenly meet head-on - there's only been continuity in car designs/names starting with GTA IV (which also marked the beginning of R* using pastiche names of makes, instead of just individual car names). For them to bring back names/designs of pre-GTA IV cars now to homage past GTAs is going to throw up a bunch of issues, because I imagine that for most of GTA history, R*'s been taking a 'clean slate' when designing each game's cars, and disregarding that which came before - until now.

 

(indeed, that still happens - see also: the redesigned Contender, or the repurposing of the Itali GTB name)

Er, not sure where this came from - ? Or how 'explaining how R* might well approach putting cars from older GTAs into GTAO' equates to "nag[g]ing for the game to be like NFS"... Gee, there's a lot of vitriol over this whole throwback car idea - goodness knows what's going to kick off when the actual update arrives...

 

And 'creative decision' simply means any design decision as part of the creative process (for example, the tracks chosen for the radio stations, the design of in-game logos, the layout of a stunt circuit, etc.). It's not calling a decision 'creative' as praise.

In all honesty, the III Infernus isn't a Jag, it's more a Vector M12.

^ And yet, curiously enough, the Penetrator also has some minor M12 cues in it... The stock wheels, for one thing (and the front grille/bumper, to a lesser extent).

I guess R* could take the same two influences, but with the ratio tipped in favour of the Vector, and get a pretty good match for the GTA III Infernus.

The thing is though, all the vehicles we have gotten so far with the Classic label have been literally vintage versions of the same car. So I think its a good assumtion it will be a Lambo.

It makes sense for the Classic Infernus will be the Countach, it reminds me of when the Nero was leaked, and some people thought it'd be the old Bugatti EB110, when the Chiron was among some of the more often requested additions. The countach is the same, and it'd be pointless bringing out another car so similar to the Penetrator when the Vice City Infernus is much more popular.

It won't be. It is a classic car. The Ferrari 458 is a modern car. Not to mention they said it will be a returning car from the 3D era games.

Whatever they decide to do with these "classics", I hope they use older car models for inspiration (like 80's style). I love the the vintage designs of the Bullet and Monroe for instance, but all the newer and modern super cars in the game tend to look and/or feel "too much alike" in my opinion.
