the 80s/90s began almost 40/30 years ago my friend. Times have changed and there are way more gamers now, companies don't need to charge much to make money. I completely agree on the 40$ Map expansion part because I feel as though a lot of players don't buy shark cards (like myself) because they don't feel like they are worth it.

Right, but my point was that Micro-transactions arent some new thing, its how videogames work. Just because theres more gamers now doesnt mean they should all devolve into entitled brats who dont understand the basics of supply and demand. Just saying, i never heard anyone threaten to write a whiny letter to capcom after shoving 20 dollars worth of quarters into a cabinet. The other point is that if you charge a fraction of the the player base alot of cash or you charge most of the player base a fraction of the cash, you still make about the same amount of money

 

What you said is right. However, a majority of players now are spoiled, they find the smallest things to complain about, always looking for the newest things and all they care about is performance (FPS, Graphics etc.) It very hard to make them happy, plus you can't please everyone. Whether you think Micro-transactions are good or bad, most people hate them and there isn't much you can do about that as a player or developer. Got to adapt.

Bottom line is which way is gonna give them the biggest return on their investment, not whats best for the playerbase.

Yes unfortunatly that is the truth, and you can't really blame them.I agree, but just because people complain doesnt mean they deserve anything special. As far as expectations of dlc, i can only speak for myself but there is a sliding scale for cost vs. content. $65 or more needs to pretty much be a new game, new story, characters, controls, graphics, performance, bigger map. $40 new map, same graphics, same performance, handful of new cars and story dlc introducing everything, new missions, races adversary modes, ect, but only a handful. $20 is the most id pay for just a map expansion with some interiors. But even then, if 99% of the community paid $20 bucks it would make shark card profits look like a pittance. Theres a happy medium that can benefit both R* and the GTA community.

Man, those guys woulda hated the 80s and 90s. 25 cents for every 3 lives. Unless it was a new game, then it could be upwards of an entire dollar!! Not to mention 2 player fighting games, you paid for every single life. Plus, walking or biking to the arcade! They wouldnt have survived, they'd all be pog masters. Anyway, if it was mandatory to pay for this giant dlc, they wouldnt have to charge $100, they could get away with $20 or something. Shark cards are expensive because they are optional, since we have other methods to make cash. Most people rather not pay real money, so if they released something like a map expansion and charged $40, like 99% of the community would fork out that money as opposed to now, which i can only imagine shark card buyers are a very small fraction of the player base.

 

 

Yeah man, they would've hated the 90's. I love being a 90's kid, we had it way better than the other guys! Good times
