Agreed, I'm certainly enjoying these Retro custom vehicles as well. The two we've received so far are fantastic. I hope they give us more.

Technically, the Roosevelt wasn't a valentines car, but a gangster car, yet it was added anyway, and mixed the words "Valentines" and "Massacre" together... And boom, DLC material!

They could do the same with planes! "Valentines" and "Wings" = Valentines on Wings"

 

Not sure if joking (), but for what it's worth, the reason behind the mobster theme for the Valentine's Day stuff was the real-life 'St. Valentine's Day Massacre' in 1929, where Al Capone's gang murdered seven members of the rival North Side Irish mob. The Roosevelt is based on Capone's Cadillac Town Sedan (with the name probably a referring to the widely-believed myth that one of Capone's armoured cars eventually went on to be owned by Franklin Roosevelt), while the 'Gusenberg Sweeper' is based on the famous 'Tommy gun', the Thompson submachine gun used in the attack (and named after Frank Gusenberg, the only victim of the shooting left alive when the police arrived).

 

...so yeah - the Valentine's Day Massacre Special was a pretty neat idea for a V-day update in a crime-themed game like GTAO. Be My Valentine less so, since it was simply 'updated versions of the same items' - although I suspect that was the point, as a way to re-add the original items (after issues prevented R* from doing so in 2015).

 

As for this year? Assuming they don't just do discounts on the current stuff, or yet more palette-swaps of the existing clothes and another Roosevelt variant, I don't know how much further they can stretch the Valentine's Day Massacre theme, and again, there's more behind that original theme than just 'suddenly: mobsters!'. It wouldn't be hugely tenuous for them to add some things based on, for example, Bonnie and Clyde - a Ford Fordor, a vintage shotgun, some new clothes, etc. - what with the whole 'doomed romance' angle.

 

Or, alternatively, ditch the vintage angle entirely, and go more down the route of sexy/romantic - maybe things like cupid/bunny outfits (Richman mansion, after all), or some other more saucy items (the return of the GTA SA gimp suit, perhaps?). I dunno - we'll see...

The date fell in the right window for a release, the event led to the 20s clothing and the car. The original Roosevelt is rather similar to the '29 Cadilliac, one of which was owned by Capone.

I've done a lot of research on this car when it appeared on the newswire early 2014. I'm fully aware of all the facts you stated, however, I didn't know that it was a myth about Franklin D. Roosevelt using the car for his personal gain... O'well

(I think you can guess the exact date.) Since one of the parties involved was the gang of a certain Al Capone it is fair enough to include a car that is heavily inspired by Al Capone's car. (And the Gusenberg Sweeper has its name from two of the victims.) But maybe you get lucky and R* did find some vague connection between Valentine's Day and old aircrafts. I keep my fingers crossed.

Holidays and Classic cars seem to be connected. The Tampa, Slamvan, Lurcher, Franken Stange, Roosevelt, Valor, Rat Truck, Sovereign, Sanctus, and Comet Retro (sorta) were holiday vehicles. But the only pegasus vehicle was the Liberator. Im hoping for flight school part 2 to add sweet aircraft like the Rustler, Hunter, and maybe the Blimp.

Some more versatile transportation options would be nice. A tilt-rotor transport, hovercraft and heavy-lift helicopters have my vote.

Can't agree on Benefactor but I would like to see new Obey and Ocelot. Preferably convertibles, hard top convertibles. Also a hard top convertible super of any brand.
