Next DLC Speculation Thread (Part 2)

Just had a random thought. What if those supposed "special vehicles" like the Ramp Buggy ARE personal vehicles, but they can only be stored in a CEO Office Garage? What if they have their own dedicated section of your garage? I mean, with 120 possible slots now, it could definitely be a possibility.

The R*F* leaker already said they are basically PV/Pegasus hybrids. They have their own floor in your garage, they have basic mods (armor, performance, paint), they have $30,000 insurance, and they have a dedicated section in the interaction menu where you can instantly spawn them like the MC's can spawn bikes.

All this GTR talk.. Yes you can have them converted to be LHD. Although they never started life as LHD cars when manufactured.

In the states we can have any car imported once it's 25 years old, as already stated. When that time hits the regulations no longer apply to said vehicle.

No, it doesn't have to be LHD converted once imported for anyone wondering.

A lot of the LHD converted cars are more popular in the middle-east.

In the GTA world it's unlikely that it'll be RHD once the DLC actually drops. This has gone a bit off topic now though..

There are MANY GTR R34s converted and mostly not converted registered to use in the US.

Its a shady grey area but money talks.

There were a ton of imported LHD R34 GTTs from when it was new...they are also rare specially nowdays but they been in the US for some time before F&F movies

How has it gone off-topic? It's all speculation about the new vehicle coming with the Import/Export update.

Our retarded dated regulations...

You must not know much about regulations if you think they are retarded. Sure they impede, but safety has come a long way because of regulations. Edited by RedDagger

Off topic in the sense that these regulations in real life don't really matter so much in the GTA world.

^ Yeah I didn't argue that they didn't exist, just that they didn't come like that from the factory and many such as myself would rather them stock.

The 25 year law is widely regarded as pointless and a needless hassle. Look the sh*t up before taking a stab at me. We do have utterly ridiculous automotive regulations from forcing US-spec foreign cars to have those god awful orange and red reflectors on or near the headlights and taillights to banning laser headlights which is a new technology that vastly helps you see at night.

They're retarded. Period. And you're not going to convince me otherwise.

Wait, what? R34s/R32s are banned Stateside? What gives?

Yeah they R34's and newer R32's are illegal but R33's from 1996-1998 are legal so long as they meet EPA standards, well to drive them they have to meet the standards, you can own these cars in America but you can't drive them. The NHTSA may approve you to let you drive them on the highway to get to things like car shows, but you can't rack up more than 2,500mi/year and I think you have to provide documentation for every 1/10th of a mile you drive.

read through that description and it'll give you a better idea of what you can and can't do and what you have to do to

Anachronistic

There's something I've been wondering about the office garages... how is the game going to render up to 60 cars at the same time?

Even on PC, if I spawn that many cars at once, the game starts to sh*t itself. Unless R* pulls off some sorcery there probably is going to be a loading screen between floors.

Ok. You're the one who corrected me on that "1500" car issue. Lol

Anyways, looking back at the newswire article it does seem like you can see all three levels from the middle level at least assuming all 60 cars have to be rendered. At least if you look in a certain angle.

So you would know better than I, hopefully the absence randomized drivers, randomized peds, standard screen clutter (trees, light posts, signs) a confined interior and provided you're not looking out a window, a shortened draw distance, will reduce strain on the system?

Just a guess.

Audi got approval to bring laser lights to the US and they're going to be on a limited edition R8 to start.

I would understand if that would be about safety, but how come that same car is unsafe now, but 25 years later it's suddenly safe? I just don't get it...

not that long considering laser lights are only like 5 years old. Who knows when they started either.

because the R34 and R32 isnt unsafe (if idiots dont drive them), they never submitted crash reports for them, they were submitted with the R33 ones listed as "Similar Vehicles" but someone said they were very different and rejected them. (also something or rather about the performance outclassing Panther body crown vics at the time)

The regulations are designed to protect the local car industry, if you could just go and import whatever you want no one would buy those American pieces of sh*t from GM,chrysler and Ford.

They won't be in the CEO office garage, just to be clear.

They will have their own floor in the car warehouse we buy for import/export missions.

CEO office will be for player vehicles that are not considered "special vehicles".

Why don't you do your research instead of calling people retarded?Unlike you im not under 17 years old talking about something i dont know, i work with cars there is proof all over the internet go research yourself each year more and more R34s get legal in the US....there are legit companies who makes a living out of this.

Its a grey area like i said in the law but everything is done under the law. There were since forever companies who did Illegally imported cars and also skylines.

Fun fact this famous BCNR33 got siezed and destroyed by the FBI around 2010 for being part of a illegal importation

Dunno if I am right here, but isnt a Grey Import (not including DSMs) illegal?

Also is it true that there was a flood of Illegal imported cars during the Government Shutdown?

I think what was up with the Import regulations is that people were selling non North American Mercedes Benz cars modified to meet US safety regulations, and Mercedes Benz did not like this at all so they lobbied to get that law changed, but it applied to every car, and not just theirs so basically: The import law is there to keep imported cars from competing with non imported cars from the same brand. (Mostly MB though)

Also, I don't think Rockstar is going to bother coming up with a reason for the R34 to have LHD beyond "oh that's just how it happened in the gta universe, they sold the Elegy in LHD countries"

With conversions that make things comply, of course they're legal, we're talking about straight import, totally OEM though. You can also import the cars but you can't drive them like a normal/regular car.

P.s. I'm 21 and my dad owns a body shop with his best friend, I go to SEMA every year, cars have been a part of my life since I was a toddler, I've also studied about this stuff because when Mercedes announced that Canada would get the new C-class estate I wanted to see how i could get one in America to use as a daily.

If you can't make a point without being condescending and immature then nothing you say matters. And for the record I'm 18 and going university. Do I work on cars? No. Just because you do doesn't mean you can talk sh*t and it doesn't make you any more of a car lover than myself thank you very much. Learn how to talk to people or don't post at all.

Jesus people.

No car is "banned" from the U.S. They just have to be altered to meet U.S. saftey and emission standards, if they are less than 25 years old.

Being LHD is not a requirement.

I have seen many R34s at car shows, converted and legal to drive. I looked into it one time when I lived in Germany. Was gonna buy a regular R33, LHD btw, but it was gonna cost too much for a non GTR to be worth converting.

Most states consider cars over 25 years old as classics, 35 years antique. I inspect cars everyday. Part of the job.
