Evening, don’t play any games aside GTA & RDR. How does it work on release day, planning to download from Microsoft store to Xbox 1 what time does it become downloadable, midnight uk time Thursday night or what? How bad are servers normally, on a decent internet connection how long roughly do modern games take to download? Cheers

The game is around 105 gigs so, if you have a decent internet connection youre looking at a 8-12hour download. Assuming the servers down go down with everyone downloading it at the same time

You will be able to pre-load the game starting a few days before launch. There's no official confirmation of when that'll go live, but you won't be having to download 100gb on launch.

 

The speeds from the servers them selves should be fine, Microsoft own about a bajillion servers so there should be no issues there. You'll need to be more specific about what a "decent internet connection" is before we can give you an accurate answer to how long it should take for you though, as what constitutes a decent internet connections differs depending on what part of the world you're from lol.

Thanks, so a few days before it’ll download the bulk of the game and on release day it’ll do the last bit to unlock it!? Is there 1 time worldwide that it’ll work from on the 26th or is it midnight so those in Oz will be going hours before the uk etc?

I'm not sure how the preload works on Xbox as I own a PS4 but I assume it's the same on PSN where the game is downloaded 100% and on midnight exactly you can play it.

 

There's no global unlock time on Xbox (I think anyway, as again I'm a PS4 user), it'll unlock country by country at midnight.

Thx, I checked when I got home yesterday tho. and it saying that download will start automatically at 23rd of October... so even better :)
