What the deal with gpu competition? Having fast cpu more important anyway.

Fast cpu but sh*tty gfx card doesn't mix very well.. Rather have good quality for both.

Stating GPU probably gives people a basic idea of how good we can run it graphically.

I had a Asus GTX 680 4GB before I got my 1060 and there's a big difference going from 30-40fps to over a hundred, dipping to low 90's in forested areas.

Not to mention, I couldn't run it maxed out on the 680 with graphic mods(or even Vanilla/Plain Jane) without severe fps loss compared to now.

I'd say your claim is 50/50. I have i5 2500k 4.0Ghz Overclocked(3.3Ghz Stock), 4.7Ghz maximum but sometimes too unstable to leave it there for long periods of time.

I guess you skipped MSAA setting, gta engine really needs it.

Can't recall what that's on, I'd have to check and report back.

I use the recommended GeForce Experience optimization settings which is basically maxed everything.

I'll have to try and see with that.

E: It was set to 2X, I also came across this trying to figure out the difference..

"Remember that FXAA takes a less than 5% performance hit, while MSAA 2X and 4X reduce performance by a tremendous amount. At 8X MSAA GTAV performance is reduced more than half. MSAA is a large burden on performance."

https://m.hardocp.com/article/2015/05/26/grand_theft_auto_v_image_quality_comparison_part_5/3

Not much difference in fps with it on 2x, 4x or 8x Game did look better with 8x though.

I came across this guide by nVidia as well.

https://www.geforce.com/whats-new/guides/grand-theft-auto-v-pc-graphics-and-performance-guide

I'll fix the formatting when I get on a computer, mobile lacks that ability after posting.

I find PC to be great for single player but not so much for online.

I find console to be great for online but not so much for single player.

This mainly due to how PC is a paradise for script kiddies who can do almost anything, even deranking you and taking all your money.

In my childhood my mother bought me PS2 and then i bought GTA SA and i have enjoyed.Later when i grew up im jumped to the PC and my first gta was a IV,very liked all story missions+free mode. When gta 5 released i wanted to buy a PS4 but there was problem with budget. After few years ago i got SC version of GTA 5 and i was satisfied.

I used to play on PC before I got a PS4 but since then I've only really been modding singleplayer, and logged in for unlocks.

while CPU is important of course , GTA requires a good GPU too (unlike most games).

I can run GTAO with +70 FPS in most scenarios with my GTX 1060 ,full HD, all graphic settings maxed out , FSAA:on and MSAA: 2X ...

in AMs , LTS and races I can hit +80 fps , but in a full lobby and with too many ppl in the same area , it can even drop to 55 FPS. my i5 6400 doesn´t allow more than that ....

Really? I have a i7 6700hq and I get like 70's on my laptop with a graphics amp with a 1080 ti inside. I let gforce do my settings for me

yeah there you have it . maybe because you have a Laptop. I have a Tower PC now , no Laptop anymore :D I do think that it makes a "small" difference...

like I said,  I have everything maxed out and 2x MSAA ... my PC specs: i5 6400 , ASUS DUAL GTX 1060 , 16 GB RAM . I would say that my average FPS is 70 on GTAO (it´s even higher in Story Mode), yeah because of these FPS drops in full lobbies (+25players) . in PUBG for example I easily hit 90 FPS...

I think ASUS overclocks the graphic chips very well ,a bit more than the "others" (  temperature gets a bit higher than the MSI GTX 1060 for instance, according to some tests , but 70 Celcius is OK )....

@Kushology gets bit more FPS than me because of his CPU though ....

;D

Here's a benchmark of my rig(few months old).

http://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/9622766

Not shown on there is my Corsair H50 CPU cooler, I have a HAF 932 too which I nicknamed Heavy as F*ck, it's rather fitting.

Also, MSAA is a FPS killer on 8x. I lose 10-15FPS in some areas which is not a big deal but still. I prefer 2x or 4x. It doesn't help that I have graphic mods, mix of 2k and 4k texture packs and textured cars.

Everything is maxed, even in Advanced Graphics but Frame Scaling is Off.

Also, yes. ASUS makes great variations of nVidia cards. Pretty much only aftermarket version of GPU's I get. Plus, the light up encasing matches my RGB lighting in my case and around my TV.

I think there's still a lot of people playing here. Thankfully, I only ran into hackers once or twice thus far.

How much FPS are shows on ultra+1080?

I started on PS3 and 360 at first release, then moved to PS4 when that version came out.

I then moved to PC upon release (SC Version) and was gifted the Steam version by my Son In Law about a year or so ago.

I now play on PC (Social Club) with a 180Ti and a Laptop (Steam) with a 1050ti at the same time lol. I shall be dusting off the PS4 again soon for RDR 2.

Alienware laptop?

I have the DVD copy from 2015 so Retail Social Club PC..

I don't call the performance I get in game good. If have it on max settings I normally don't get over 50fps. If I have it on high settings it's over 90fps. I'm only running the game at 1920x1080 on a 120hz display set for 120hz in borderless windowed with pause game on focus loss disabled. Currently it's installed on the RAID 0 with SSD cache and I might move it to the NVMe SSD, but the last time I had it installed there it didn't make a difference. I will probably try 4k DSR, but I expect that to make it worse.

My PC is currently
Processor: Intel i7-7820x
Motherboard: ASUS TUF X299 Mark 1
Cooling: CoolerMater X6 Elite (Upgrade Planned)
Memory: 4 x 8GB DDR4 3200MHz
Video Card(s): 2x EVGA Geforce GTX 1080 SC ACX3 SLI
Storage: Samsung 960 EVO 250GB NVMe SSD, 240GB PNY SATA SSD, 2x3TB (6TB) Seagate HDDs in RAID 0, 1.5TB Seagate HDD, 500GB Seagate HDD
Display(s): ASUS VG236H, ASUS VS247
Case: CoolerMaster MasterCase Pro 6
Power Supply: SeaSonic 850W SS-850KM3
Mouse: Logitech G500s
Keyboard: Logitech G510s
Software: Windows 10 Pro X64

I play both. Mostly on PS4 because I hate dicking around with the various weird issues on the PC. Running an i5 with a 1050TI 4GB. Seems to work very well!

It's very good for laptop CPU. Online indeed is CPU hungry in a packed session.

Unless it's not 8x MSAA and ultra grass, under 60 fps for 2x 1080 is absolutely off. Honestly, it is way off even for single 1080 with high grass and 4x MSAA in 1080p. Just for reference, I was playing on Asus STRIX 980 for over a year with high grass and mostly everything ultra at 60, most of the drops were CPU related (crazy 3-4 org sales).
