MarczXD
Just wondering if anyone here is going to buy the game in those systems. I think my biggest fear is how the game is going to run on the original, outdated systems, i hope we can expect at least an acceptable performance, and i don't believe the game will be 105 gbs on then, since the 4K textures will not be installed. Gangsterdesert
I wouldn't be that scared tbh. I will definitely play it on the regular PS4, as I do not own a 4K TV, which makes buying a PS4 Pro somewhat redundant. I was a little afraid of the graphics at first, but comparing most games 4K versions with the standard full hd versions (there are videos on youtube) there isn't that much of a difference for most games. 4K looks slightly better, but nothing to worry about. Furthermore RDR II will only be upscaled 4K on PS4 anyways, which R* claimed, so it wouldn't even be native 4K. And regarding your concerns in performance.. Some reviewers saw the game and actually played it. They said it was beautiful and a huge step forward. In the end Rockstar told them, that it was the reg. PS4 version. So by all means, don't worry. I was a little worried at first, too. But there won't be much of a difference. Small improvements? Maybe. But there really won't be much of a difference. You will see, when the first kids start comparing the full hd version to the 4K one on youtube. BLOOD, Osric, Ayesha and 1 other
paddymcg
After recently playing God of War on the original PS4 I have absoloutely no fear that this game will still look and play amazing on the base consoles. It's by far the best looking game I've ever played and I hardly ever noticed a frame dip which is very impressive for a such a huge open world with no loading screens or camera cuts. Plus you have to remember, the vast VAST majority of the playerbase have the original consoles and this game was designed for those consoles. You're not giving Rockstar enough credit if you're worried that the game won't run smooth on the originals. jdv95

Like the dude above me said, the vast majority of the player base still owns the original PS4 and X1, so it's reasonable to think that they will be the priority "optimization-wise" jdv95
Sonny_Black
You will mostly not see a difference unless you have a 4K TV, and this is a resolution difference not graphical nor details. jdv95 and nicktestbranch
jdv95
i'm going to play this on my OG base ps4 aswell. and just remember that the game was in development for the base ps4 and xbox one years before the pro and x where announced,so both versions will run this game smooth. plus both the base and pro version run on 30 fps so i don't think that the pro will have better frame rates either exept for some more pop ups on the normal ps4 but i think those will be minor aswell TheTruth22333
Rusty James
From what we have seen the graphics and lighting looks better than the Witcher 3. It's good enough for me.
Idro_Novenalen
Have no fear. Every game is built on standard consoles, then optimized for 4K upscale. But I think we'll have to install 105 GB as well, 'cause every game optimized for PS4 pro has 4K texture as well, even if we don't use them. I didn't understand why. jdv95
SneakyDeaky
I'm playing it on the humble Xbox S and the only thing I worry about is the draw distance and pop up. I think it will look a little soft compared to the newer consoles, but it doesn't concern too much. Edited October 1, 2018 by SneakyDeaky

The game is STILL using those same textures even at lower resolutions you know. 3 hours ago, anthony said: You will mostly not see a difference unless you have a 4K TV, and this is a resolution difference not graphical nor details. I mean there's still the potential that graphical effects will be better on the newer consoles, texture filtering most certainly is, which you'd still see the benefit of at 1080p. 3 hours ago, Gangsterdesert said: Furthermore RDR II will only be upscaled 4K on PS4 anyways, which R* claimed, so it wouldn't even be native 4K. It's still rendering twice as many pixels compared to base unit, which even if you play on 1080p, you'd get the benefit of downsampling to produce a cleaner image. Also "kids" really? horns
Getting it for both standard Xbox One and PS4. If Rockstar says what improvements Pro and X bring then I might consider upgrading.

Ever checked out who the hell actually makes those PS4 Pro/PS4 graphic comparisons on youtube? Most of the time those guys are somewhat 20 years or younger. I just hope there won't be as many 12 year old squeakers in RDR II online. They totally killed GTA V and GTA IV online for me.

Nutduster
I'll be playing on XBox One original for now. I expect the game to look and perform well enough for my mid-sized TV. jdv95
