Special items on cargo missions

I don’t usually run crates but I just got two large warehouses on sale because I’ve heard you can get more special items. Last time I only got 3 because I wasn’t paying attention properly and I put it in the same warehouse as my standard crates, which I heard you’re supposed to avoid for some reason (I sold it right away). Today I went to source some crates and saw 1 special item at 23k and then the usual 2 and 3 normal crate prices so I selected 3 crates thinking it was a glitch. Instead what happened was I got a mission where it gave me 1 golden mini gun and even after killing the thieves it kept saying take out the thieves and time ended with it saying I got 1 out of 3 special items. What gives?

Theres all sorts of info out there saying different things and some say source 1 crate at a time to get more special items but I don’t know if that’s in general or for the warehouse that’s designated for special items.

Thieves, Valkyrie, Helicopters missions don't work. If you'd read the linked topic you'd know that.

Yeah I’m not reading through all that. I clicked the link and didn’t learn anything new from it. There’s no way of knowing whether it’s a theif or Valkyrie mission from anything I’ve read. Definitely not reading through pages and pages of threads that’s what the forums for, asking questions getting answers. Not Fs given if my thread bothers your made up forum etiquette.

If threads were not 20+ pages long, with a bunch of bs to flip through, it would often help finding sh*t as I have the same problem. Now I know why the helicopter mission didn't work now.

Ya I remember posting about this in that exact thread. Nobody seemed to be very helpful because there was so little info regarding it. We just knew that ordering 3 crates when a special item appeared activated the glitch. Terrorbyte is required though.

Here's a bit of info for you regarding rarity of special items. I always collect 3 crates at a time. I own 5 large warehouses so that's about 185 runs to fill all of them. In 185 runs you'll rarely get more than 2-3 special items. Super rare for 4-5 special items.

Lol woah calm down. Sometimes if you want the answers to your questions, you do have to do a bit of reading and research. A forum isn't necessarily to ask questions and get an instant answer. That's what FAQs are for. Forums are discussion based. FB pages are a good source for instant questions and answers.

As mentioned above, only some will give you all three crates whilst others don't. As the multiple special rare item crate is a glitch and not meant to work like that, it's not an expected thing for it to work successfully all the time. It's a lottery and it's just accepted that's the way it is.

Just like nothing screams dudebro like a profile picture of a professional sportsman when the only exercise you get in reality is lifting a crate of beer into your car.

Lol burn.

Can this be a "what does your profile pic say about you" topic now? I've got a feeling the original purpose of it is going to become redundant fast.

Welllll, ....back on topic, I suppose it's a safer bet to just buy two rare crates and be happy with that.

I've only had terrible luck with any three crate jobs I've tried anyway, so I figure I'll stick to two.

Haven't had an opportunity to try it since the botched three thieves job last time.

It's a gamble regardless if you choose 2 or 3 crates. I've had the glitch fail me at least 5 times now. 4 successes though. That's an easy $1,800,000 or so I've made from glitched special items.

I've only gotten 2 rare item opportunities (one with no call, the second I did get the call), and only gotten 1 item each time.

Still, better than some other things.

Has anyone gotten the call while not a CEO or Pres?

I can’t say with certainty but I think I gotten the call while afk watching the security cameras because when I started special cargo it was already on the docket when I went into the terabyte to source some crates.

Yep

I got it while i was an associate. Told the CEO to check crates for a special, turns out it was for me.

Got it while not registered too, a few times actually.

My experience, it can happen at any time.

You actually get the call from the assistant of the CEO you're working for. I found this out by getting a call from my friend's female assistant instead of my own male one.

This is a terrible idea. The thieves/helicopters/Valkyrie mission will break with 2 or 3 crates, and you're screwing yourself out of a third of the value if you get a working mission. Even if you only get one special item out of 3, it's still a bargain at $18k, as the normal purchase price is ~$25k. Alternatively, if you don't want to do a broken mission, quit out, and you'll get the call again within a few runs.

Nothing screams virgin like bad grammar and cheap insults.

On topic: I read recently if you have at least 20 crates stored, it increases your chances of getting the call for a special item. Does anyone know if this is true?

"Call" is unreliable.  I've got more just paying attention and noticing the 20K single crate option than I've got phone calls.   Best to check crate options every in-game day.

This is not true.  In that lengthy thread it's pretty well established that it's all RNG which rolls the dice for you every in game day and after every completed crate mission, odds are 1:20 and it will not give you duplicates of the same item, so if you are sitting on the gold minigun your odds become less because a portion of that 5% chance to hit is the number for gold minigun.   Sell them right away, check your crate options often, and the rest is dumb luck.

There's no reason to not do 3 crates IMO.  Almost none of them take >10 minutes and you're 50/50 chance of getting all in one vehicle.

@hispls

Thanks, I either missed or had forgotten any of that. Was it a thread on these forums? I think I read about the 20 crate theory on Fun's Twitter (not by him), but not 100% sure.

And yes, 3 crates with the Oppressor Mk2 takes no time at all.

Thanks again for the reply, you saved me from buying a medium warehouse (about 900k).

😃

^ That was meant to be a 👍 I couldn't figure out how to delete it lol.

My grammar is fine, but my punctuation on the other hand could use some work. Then again, WTF cares? (That’s called an acronym! :) )

If only you knew how foolish you seem for questioning my English, on a forum no less.

The more you know....

Two times in a row I sourced 3x crates using the Terabyte when the special item popped up. I have poked around on YouTube and also on here and haven’t found out definitively, but was wondering if this is an issue related to the Terabyte as some say, or if it relates to the missions that have helicopters like others say. Not completely sure, but if I find out I’ll add it to the original post to make it easier for people searching for this in the future.

It's a new glitch that allow you to source 3 special items if you happen to get lucky (a vehicle mission instead of pick this up and deliver it).

How do you get another special item ? It's very random, all you need to know is that your "chance" happen every 48 minutes and that's the problem.

No one is going to wait 3 hours straight just to have a better chance at getting a special item, add the daily "log out, log in, log out, log in" routine and it becomes much harder to get a special item.

@Beantown985

I wasn't questioning anything. And BTW, you can GTFO with your acronyms. 😉

Seriously though, this never happened before the Terrorbyte was introduced. If you got the call for a special item, you would go to the office computer and pay around $27k for one special item. If you chose three crates for $18k, you would source three regular crates.

If, when using the Terrorbyte, you are 'unlucky' enough to get the source mission with the three thieves, for example, then you have still made more by paying $18k for one special item than you would have made if the Terrorbyte wasn't an option.

And I think that's all it comes down to - luck.
I play/grind solo for around 3-4 hours a day and have been running crates as part of my routine for a few weeks now and I would say I get the call 2-3 times a week, with one of these resulting in three special items at once. The others, just one crate and a 15 minute wait for the time to expire (except for the one time I went back for the two remaining thieves with my stone hatchet in hand).

TL;DR
If you get one crate, it's still a bonus. If you get three, it's your lucky day. And apologies for the snarky comment before.

When the glitch doesn't give 3 special items I just join a new session. You'll get another call for another special item soon.

I wanted to try this when it was first discovered, but never recieved the call despite purposefully running crates to try and trigger the call. No dice.

I hopped on yesterday, haven't really played at all over the last few weeks, certainly haven't run any crates. Was just about to start a time trial. As I pulled up to the corona, I got the call. Okay then.

Quick nat test to empty the lobby, spawned terrorbyte, ordered 3 crates. Got the mission to go the pickup, cops had seized the shipment, one riot van in transit. Delivered it to warehouse for 3 golden miniguns. Accidentally put them in a warehouse with a few other crates, didn't matter. Sold the 3 specials straight away for 470k.

It still works, you've just gotta get lucky with the pickup mission type.

Can anyone say whether a particular warehouse matters with the 3x special items exploit? I vaguely remember someone saying to stay away from wholesale furniture when it comes to special items and use this certain warehouse (the one all the way at the top near, the top of the city) for special items specifically.

Im finding my original thought to be true, which is that the special items really end up being more work than they’re worth and might as well just source 1, grab your special item and call it a day because at least then you’re not involved in analyzing algorithms and over analyzing your every move for an extra 200-300k, which can easily be made elsewhere.

The warehouse doesn't matter, and the method works, you source 3 specials that will net you almost 500k instantaneously, you can't beat that, even the bunker takes a whole lot more to produce that amount, and you also get to sell the regular boxes plus you can also have the bunker and nightclub producing in the background..

Source 3 always, if it's a broken mission, swap session, it will come again after you source some regular crates, and try again, easy money.
