It will replace GTAO for me personally. I played GTAO for the last time, last night. I'll load it up when new updates drop and buy a shark card for stuff I want to buy, just to take snaps of the cars or whatever, but that's it.

I'm ready to move on.

This is something that I thought I'd NEVER hear myself say, but I agree. The game has been swirling around the sh*tter for some time. It started when players realized that they could shoot out the back of the Zentorno while being impervious to bullets themselves, and instead of patching the issue, R* doubled down and gave us the 360 degree Zentorno better known as the Kuruma. It snowballed from there; jets that blanket entire city blocks in flaming death, flying cars and bikes with inescapable missiles, invisible helicopters, and enough ground game exploits to where tryhards don't even have to try that hard to be a complete nuisance. RDR2O won't have any of the machinery, so if R* manages to keep the gameplay balanced, it will most certainly replace GTAO for me.

None of that really is what put me over the edge, I stay away from other players online for the most part.

My thing, is that there is nothing more that I want. No more goals to achieve that I find worthwhile. I hate to say this, but once they added the one car I always wanted, it kinda killed the game for me. Now I don't have anything to potentially look forward to. Sure some other cars/weapons/clothes might suite me, but anything they could add would only be secondary to my Ellie collection.

I have 100%'d GTAO in my head. Just like actually doing it for every story mode GTA game. It's done. Nothing more to really do.

Certainly not. Though I'm all for more huge, open worlds to explore, there are things in GTA Online that we obviously won't have in Red Dead Online that are fun. I continue to enjoy flying aircraft, hanging with friends on yachts, driving across the map, et cetera. RDO won't have all that, even when it has its own strengths. If it comes to it, I might even find that I still enjoy exploring Skyrim on horseback more than Red Dead's new worldspace, though I'll definitely be hiking across it when I get the chance.

As a side note, I think it's silly for people to complain about GTAO for its other players and claim RDO will be better. There will still be trolls and griefers and tryhards, they'll just be wearing bandannas and boss of the plains instead of rebreathers and helmets. Problems will arise, there will be exploits, and headaches will ensue as long as people take it too seriously. And Rockstar will be Rockstar.

At any rate, my appaloosa will never replace my Albany. They can coexist as long as the powers that be keep the servers running.

Me, I'm just sick of how R* took what was originally a much more 'play it your way' game (right down to them selling it as such at launch), and steered it more towards unrealistic gimmicks and only certain kind of player above all others. If you're not someone who wants to live like God-Emperor of Los Santos, owning the entire city and blowing all and sundry to smithereens while collecting expensive hypercars, you're going to have to get by with disappointing scraps and a stagnant, broken game... :(

If R* continues to use GTAO (and future iterations of it) as a dumping ground for easy-sell gimmicks, and totally squanders the potential of an immersive, highly-detailed world that no other studio could ever hope to imitate, then that's a shame - but if they figure that there's no point in trying to do the same with RDO (because Western/1899), and indeed emphasise "role-play and morality" instead, then ...eh, I'll jump ship, even if that means a world before the Mazda MX-5 was even a thing. :p

...and to be fair, I've not got high hopes of R* adding a properly-done Mazda to GTAO, either - at the moment, RDO at least has the advantage of having some clear limitations upfront, whereas GTAO always had the potential to go in some interesting directions (and then disappointed when it didn't, in favour of some really questionable things instead...). Of course, we've not seen anything yet - I'm not buying RDO sight-unseen, and if it's too limiting, then no dice. :harrumph:

It's not that I want GTAO replaced so much as I want the GTAO formula to be refined and improved upon with reflection on what did and didn't work, and forethought given to plans for future expansion. I really hope RDRO does this. I don't think it'll ever replace GTAO for me in the sense that I'll never go back but if RDRO is done right it could very easily replace GTAO as my "main game."

Lol at those of you hoping RDR2O is boring so GTA players won't play it... so you'd rather have a crappier game in hopes of avoiding a segment of the players? I genuinely hope those with such opinions aren't parents or pet owners. Also, those you're hoping to avoid will play any game with a R* logo on it, there's really no avoiding them. They bought all those shatcards according to most people complaining about the state of GTAO..

I think those people are hoping that RDR2O is boring for a specific audience (People who are trigger happy in FM/Griefers) so they don't have to deal with them and so that this freemode experience can be a different one rather than shooting everyone on sight.

Short term: It's all about the story mode. There isn't a GTA or RDR, most all R* games really, that I just don't still play. I feel I'll get years out of this one too. (Not to put too much expectation on it, lol).

Long term: I hope they compliment each other for me. I still enjoy GTA:O though mostly alone or just to enjoy competitive modes like race or other fun, or help on co-op too. Found myself done with all but 1 co-op challenge that I'll do one day after RDR buzz eases. Too many sweet cars to drive about too, so until a new GTA comes, I'm set.

If this game and GTA grow further and do more to keep me entertained, other games are gonna soon fall off my radar, lol. Only so many hours I can play and with 2 monsters to enjoy, sorry others.

But of a mark, but I do understand many points made on these forums too and agree with much. GTA:O definitely left an impression on gaming for me.

This last event week I only logged in once. I used to play GTAO practically every night, but all the BS and toxic players just got too much. I have everything I really want in GTA, there really is nothing left for me there. I am completely ready to throw myself into a simpler new world where you don't have to be eyeing the minimap constantly on the lookout for potential griefer threats. Where it takes time to get from place to place, not having the temptation of just jumping in a helicopter or on a rocket bike to get things done as quickly as possible. Where it seems like the focus on realism is really going to be a big factor.

We need to encourage them not to change GTAO one bit. It's a money making cash cow that we need to continue on, forever.

They can take those profits and sink them into RDR2 dlc and RDO.

We can support RDO by buying the RDR2 dlc.

Cattle heists in RDRO2 payment $2 mission bring all the herd to the macfarlane's barn, how? by pushing them with your horse's ding dongs that will fire flaming arrow, that's right boys and girls your horse dongs can fire arrow with flames!

Fire it up! 🤠

With that features it will surely replace GTAO man, i'm positive 100% 😀

How would it?

They are completely different games. Just because one thrives, doesn't mean the other has to suffer.

And why would anybody hope that RDO would cause GTAO to suffer? Anybody who doesn't like GTAO doesn't have to play GTAO, there's no reason to want it to suffer just because you don't like it.

If you mean personally, then definitely yes. If you mean as a whole, then I hope not in the sense that the GTA community swaps over to RDR Online.

i'm not hoping i just think that it is a fact that gta online is dying and rdrO if it is as good as gtaO or better it will replace it, new physics new gameplay new map everything is new.

GTAO is slowly killing itself with each new ridiculous update it adds. They will add updates for as long as people are paying for them with shark cards. But the ideas, potential and creativity for GTAO died after Heists.

Hopefully what ever they do for RDO they don't make the same irreversible mistakes.

I am almost certain RDO is going to replace GTAO for me.  The only thing twinge I have is how will micros work.  At this point, I cant see logging into GTAO unless there are new heists.  This game has all the makings of what addicted me to GTAO.

I'm kinda torn on this because on one hand I want it to be so good that it brings people in in droves but on the other hand I don't want the asshats that populate GTAO to come and ruin RDR2O. That being said kind of a moot point because inevitably it will just hoping there is actually something to police these muppets when the do come over, and also that R* doesn't flood the game with grief weapons like GTAO ( Look at you wagons with gatling guns ). Also as a final tangent I have to say if I have to pay insurance, cash to revive or f*cking property tax I'ma loose my sh*t.

It is a different game and another market. GTA:Online will continue for many years to come, especially on pc with the roleplaying modes.

My dream RDRO at this point will be what singleplayer appears to be but with co-op. I have zero interest in encountering trolls who just want to throw dynamite at me while i fish with friends. Or shoot up (and close) a store/business I'm in. Having never been one who trolls randoms, only people I know and dislike or actual trolls, I've never understood the mental depravity that causes someone to f*ck with randoms. If only there were actual consequences. Like in Mr Inbetween how Ray explains "in jail, there are consequences. Disrespect someone and you're dead. Out here, there's no consequences."

This is why I should get to use the lasso Online - to police the *ssholes. @RockstarGames

Couldn't have said it better.

Here's hoping something Rockstar offers when Online is released makes that dream come true.

It's replacing it for me.

It'll be a lot harder for tryhards to ruin the experience. No stickies, no combat roll..... the game is more mature and realistic, which is to sure drive off the twelve year old douchebags. No Oppressor, Deluxo, or jet to hide in... you have to fight like a man or die!

Online really has me intrigued, I'm curious how some features will work. Like if cores are a thing.... how do we restore stamina/deadeye since we can't sleep and advance time?

For me it’s Going to replace RDR1 multiplayer. Never liked GTAO - it is just too weird, over the top and silly.
