1st topic. Wondering if you are hoping for a replacement for GTAO.  I am completely bored of GTAO.  But yet, I continue to play for several reasons. I am looking for a replacememt with RDR2O.

I know R* has stated they will continue to update GTAO.

For me, I am still on the fence about a preorder, but I am hoping that RDR2O will be a replacement, so I can put down GTAO for a long time possibly forever depending on whether the RDR2O is a leap forward as opposed to a completely different path or heaven forbid a step backwards.  To me the fact that they are completely different games is irrelavnt because they share many aspects of game play.  I hope RDR2O builds off of all the successful things in GTAO and dumps the the dusty aspects.   Like blips on/off and passive mode. I played RDRO and found it was great, but had some terrible bugs.  I like the horse/wagons/cowboys more than modern times and vehicles and such.  I am looking forward to the 2nd gameplay video and hope it will push me over the edge to make a purchase.  SP looks incredible, I wish they provided more online info, and SP looks more than worth the money.

I loved how the combat was fun and equal in RDR and GTA IV Online. GTA V went a bit overboard with all the stuff they put in alongside passive mode (Which i don't think belonged in GTA).

Personally I think it's not a replacement, some people like to buy cars and customise them,go for races etc... or they like to fight with those military vehicles which would be hard/near impossible to replicate in RDR2 Online. Personally i would want this to be a severely upgraded version of the 1st RDR's online while borrowing some good aspects from GTA V's Online.

Started being bored of GTAO years ago. I'm a veteran but I don't even feel love or nostalgia for the game. Personally I wish they'd end GTAO and focus only on RDO, but I know that's not gonna happen soon.

God no.
I also hope its designed in a way that anyone below 18 will lose interest in it quickly, I know that won't be the case, but wishful thinking I guess.

I hope not. I no longer play GTA:O but my wishful thinking is if GTA:O continues to receive support, all the hyperactive teens will stay there instead of flocking to RDR: O.

No coz we dont want the immature kids on rdr. Let them blow each other up with their illegitimate hoverbikes and stealth choppers

Lock n' Stock

I'll say it again, GTA Online ruined GTA for me.

I know RDR2 is going to be a top-tier single-player game and then some, but I don't have a good feeling about the multi-player.

I hope R* continues GTAO for alot longer. Believe it or not there are still tons of players who are just starting GTAO & are still using old gen systems. I had a PS4 briefly but it was stolen right after the Doomsday DLC released so I've missed out on the past few years. My PS3 died last week & I'm having to completely restart on PS4 (which I absolutely dread) I hope that GTAO remains for several more years so those other players just beginning & I can experience the things we've missed due to the stop of DLC's on old gen

No, let GTAO keep the tryhards, toddlers, modders and trolls. I want an actual proper experience that isn't hindered by the garbage GTAO brought out.

RDR2 WILL replace gtao for me. It's been five good years. The only other games I've really focused on were battlefield,  some cod and fighting games like tekken, sfv and kilter instinct. I'm soooooo ready for something new.

I'll use gta as a racing game from time to time.

a gta will never be replaced. sure i wont touch it the first weeks, but it will always find a way into my ps4.

i remember 2009 when rdr was released, it was the same. after a while its so good to drive around LS when you havent been there for a while

It will be my replacement but I'm an adult that doesn't want all the insanity of GTAO brought anywhere near RDRO so I'm hoping it is boring so all the kids and asshole adults stay away from it.

I'm also making the switch to free aim if it is a thing. Have always played GTA games on auto so I feel a need to change since nothing else I play is on auto.

Old school weapons in an old school time period just scream free aim to me.

It will replace GTAO for me personally. I played GTAO for the last time, last night. I'll load it up when new updates drop and buy a shark card for stuff I want to buy, just to take snaps of the cars or whatever, but that's it.

I'm ready to move on.

For the last few weeks, I only log on to GTA Online on the day they release something new and then log off. I'm not really playing GTA Online any more, so yeah, it'll replace for me.

I even left my main character dressed as a fancy cowboy today. If some friend misses me, he'll get that clue about where to find me in the near future.

Only logging in GTAO for unlockables and such from now on.

The Algerian

Sniper rifles alone are probably going to ruin RDR2Online for me.

I don't want GTA's entire playerbase on top of that.

There will be both worlds.  TBH, never got into rdr's online aspect.  The story was so good, and I expect the map and the story to be pretty dang good, given what I have seen thus far.

I think absent a casino update with a lot of high roller stuff, I will probably leave gtao on the shelf, but who knows?

THAT’S EXACTLY WHAT I HOPE TOO. When I enter a public session in GTAO I feel like this

Jerking For Soup

Yes I hope it will.

We need something new and RDR 2 looks to be something new.

For the next however many years I hope we'll be gunslinging, herding cattle and riding horses.

Then when GTA VI comes along the cycle repeats.

RDR 2 is definitely going to be a palette cleanser.

Free roam games were not made for multiplayer

i just hope the online aspect doesn't kill the single player story like it did V

I just really hope that they don't bring back the "Easy Way Out" or "Passive Mode" Feature & instead make Friendly Lobbies for the roleplayers, otherwise it's going to be a sh*t-show again with the Tryhards.

Not really.

I’m more concerned if the toxic demographic of GTAOnline may or may not get to RDR2O. Most likely, I’m hoping that it doesn’t.

GTA IV was really fun with friendly lobbies.

The only way you could kill each other was by propelling someone high enough with a rocket launcher that the fall would kill them.

Hope? No, because there are still a whole lot of people playing, and enjoying it.

I personally haven't played since those handling flags came out, and I can't see myself going back. Both because of the flags on every vehicle, and because none of my friends play anymore.

Online isn't in any way a selling point for me when it comes to games. I'll probably check it out at some point.

Many people love their cars/garages in GTA they wont move over to rdr2. For me I just hope they will still add content to the single player gameworld too and not just for online.I will checkout online for sure and give it a chance but if its anything like GTA Online has become, I wont be playing it much. I like simpler games not managing virtual companies that actually require "work", and walls of text to explain/remind you of things.

Also the lobbysystem of GTA Online is pure garbage. I wonder if thats the same in rdr2? Probably not.

I'm buying rdr2 for single player mostly, of course I will give the online at try at some point but certainly not a focus.

I've really got to re-iterate my previous point about this after possibly my last ever session on GTAO tonight.

I really really hope and pray that the little sh*ts that play GTAO will hate RDR2. I really do. go on, hate it with a passion you little turds.

My dream RDRO at this point will be what singleplayer appears to be but with co-op. I have zero interest in encountering trolls who just want to throw dynamite at me while i fish with friends. Or shoot up (and close) a store/business I'm in. Having never been one who trolls randoms, only people I know and dislike or actual trolls, I've never understood the mental depravity that causes someone to f*ck with randoms. If only there were actual consequences. Like in Mr Inbetween how Ray explains "in jail, there are consequences. Disrespect someone and you're dead. Out here, there's no consequences."

This is why I should get to use the lasso Online - to police the *ssholes. @RockstarGames

If we can use the lasso that will be a gracious day. Other than possibly joining in with some people from the forums, I think I'll be playing most of my RDO experience in non-public areas. invite only, etc. hopefully can still do a lot of the features in the game in invite only, unlike GTA. my two friends are getting RDR so I may end up just playing with them and singleplayer. too old for the naff stuff they keep adding to GTAO now. quite clearly sastisfying the under-18s with the dlc they've added the last few years.
