FPS less after After Hours update

This problem has in everyone, lower fps after update.

How to fix?

i play on pc.

Same for me. I tried everything but when the lobby fills up I get massive drops. Even lowering graphics settings doesn't help. Gladly I will update next month to a new GPU. They did something to probably makes the lights nicer and stuff and overdone it.

XB1 player, have had no noticeable FPS loss at all. It's probably something that PC players are experiencing, console must not be affected much.

Not sure about the after hours update because I upgraded my laptop at roughly the same time this update dropped, my new laptop plays it all ultra (Apart from grass which is very high) 1080 at a locked 60fps,

But the performance on my OLD laptop dropped after the Doomsday update released! I had to reduce my graphic settings and resulution to maintain playable fps.

This is possible each update adds new mechanics to the game engine and more to processes and calculations needed in freemode especially , GTA5 has always liked multiple cpu cores like 4, in the past you may have been able to get away with a dual core with multi threading but the demands of the game seems to have increased, it is also possible that Rstar add a bit of spit and polish to the graphics especially on updates that are visual like this one.

The reason that the DLC's stopped early in the life of the game for the XBOX 360 and PS3 was mainly because of hardware limitations, it is worth keeping that in mind.

 

Do you guys see the same drop in performance in single player?

I canned out the dust from my CPU heatsink and dropped at least 5 degrees.

Your machine will last longer if you clean 'er out.

 

I have found my fps has dropped, lately but it's not consistent, it seems to surge while flying or driving.

Graphics card good, but CPU yh, pretty weak for 60 fps at full lobby. Especially if you have single channel low clocked ram.

Wait what? This is just uh ok nevermind. 4790 at 4ghz sitting at 50% usage. 1060 at 60% usage all the time so no bottlenecks. Still sub 60fps drops all randomly over the map, even with only high settings. NEVER had this issue before the update. Even in complete full lobbies. I can't play anymore in them.

 

Whatever they did, it wasn't good.

Why you want to upgrade GPU, if current one not even close to max out? Each update adds more sh*t for CPU to process, thats why performance getting worse. You want 8600K or 9700K for best fps in gta.

My CPU is not maxed out at all, 50% all the time. They just don't optimize their stuff, just slap it on I want to use higher resolutions. Thats where I WILL be bottlenecked, i tried. GPU is around 40-75, I just want more headroom for that.

The game engine unable to utilize more than 4 cores. You want more performance - you need faster cores.

Clean it (and replace the cooling paste), it's super easy and makes a world of difference. I did it this summer, as in a couple months ago and it went from sounding as a jet taking off to hardly making any sound at all. I'm glad I did it before the release of RDR2 because I honestly don't know if it would've survived if I hadn't.

I first started with FPS issues ever since Lowriders came out. Though I don't know where to get that security screw thing to get this far into the PS4.

 

My PS4 is also loud the moment I open capture gallery and play clips lol

Ok. Well if you ever want to try you should find those security torx screws at well-sorted electronics or home appliance shops. Look up a video on youtube and just follow step by step in case you’re afraid of breaking anything (though if you’re just careful it should be no problem even though there’ll be quite a lot of screws to keep check on lol).

 

All this said, it might well be software performance issues as well that help increase the noise even more.

A 4790 is more than fine. Intel's incremental upgrades don't really make a significant difference in gaming until you hit about 7th gen. 

 

If your problem is only occurring online, (which is what I gather) you're likely just experiencing the same sh*t netcode that everyone else is.

A bottleneck is when the load on the CPU/GPU is 100%. He's said many times that it's barely halfway there.

 

RAGE likes instruction throughput and frequency, but only from a maximum of using four cores. This is why Ryzen shows a slight performance deficit, and the newer Intel processors (e.g. 8700K and 9700K) show performance improvements. The differences between the 6700K and 7700K will be purely from frequency, and the same goes for 8700K, 9700K and 9900K (with a slight variance in instruction throughput due to the different cache structure).

He can disable HT and get almost same fps with 100% CPU utilization. Because games performance never scaled well from number of CPU cores. Yeah he doesn't seem to get it, whatever. I monitor my usage and in the times where my frames drop I don't have high utilization of either CPU or GPU. They sit at 50%. Sometimes my frames don't even drop when there's muiltiple explosion or massive action going on. 

 

Then just randomly driving around in some spots it dips like crazy.
