Pressure Drop
I've bought nearly every western on DVD or Blu Ray at some point, definite ones to watch would be : -Unforgiven -Once Upon A Time in the West -Dollars Trilogy -Quigley Down Under 3:10 to Yuma Assassination of Jesse James Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid The Outlaw Josey Wales & Pale Rider & High Plains Drifter -Django Unchained Also, the TV series "Deadwood", and to finish off with, some comedy - "Blazin' Saddles", "They Call Me Trinity" and "Trinity is Still my Name" Enjoy, I just watched Django/Hateful 8 last weekend, and Unforgiven last night. I will probably rewatch Deadwood next, which will take me nicely up to RDR2 release Onholidayinmyhead, Lonely-Martin and ¡MAYDAY!

It's about the famous siege during the Texas Revolution and stars Billy Bob Thornton as Davy Crockett. A really great movie, and has a similar tone to a lot of Westerns, being set around that same age. I know there have been a lot of Alamo takeoffs, but I did really enjoy this one. Long, lot of longer spool character development, but it's probably the best portrayal of the span and circumstances of the actual siege of the Alamo. 2 hours ago, Onholidayinmyhead said: Just watched Bone Tomahawk. Traditional it was not. Although I do like the neo-western genre, this was something else entirely! Thanks for the other suggestions. 3 hours ago, Collibosher said: Unbelievable you people... TexasOdysseus
I have to say though that The Hateful Eight's cinematography, with the winter stuff, is especially good and I can readily see that being borrowed upon in the snow scenes we've seen so far in RDR2. Lonely-Martin
Some fine movies/TV listed here, really isn't much I can add, lol. Many all time favourites too, not just good, epic stuff. Do like 'em rough and tough, the more modern flicks are great for this, though as a genre, has a history of violence and machismo too, lol. I love it. (Just as entertainment of course). Can't knock Back to the Future III though, that and Maverick are great Sunday movies. BTTF does have a real innocence about it with a subtle undercurrent of sleaze and wretchedness. Griff was nasty, lol. Caught Tombstone on movies for men the other night, hadn't seen it or was a long time ago if I did and I forgot. But it was pretty damn good and along with RDR2 fever, had to play RDR naturally. Definitely recommend. For me, I'll be re-watching Deadwood. Such a great show, and in case folk missed it, does look like it's set to return. Get in! The Revenent and Tarantino's 2 are fantastic looking movies as much as good, and the scenery in HD is hypnotic sometimes, I believe I'll fail a few early missions just because I'm too busy looking 'over there' Can't wait now! How about City Slickers. For any GTA:O gamers, could treat this game as a sweet lil' retreat too. Classic times.

BUT THE BENZ
not a movie, but something that COULD get you in the mood! My daughter chose this on her own, from a huge range of those comic books, a couple of weeks ago in the mall! it is a donald duck comic book full of western tales. the title translates "fistful of coins", a nod to the greatest "trilogy" ever fun fact: there is a story called "the rainmaker", maybe I will chose that name for RDO. Cutter De Blanc
Watched The Magnificent Seven last night. The one with Steven McQueen and Yul Brynner. A fun film, really good. I prefer the original Seven Samurai that the film was based on though, it had better characterization. I mean James Coburn's character in The Magnificent 7 only has 11 lines in the entire movie. zainzombie
How come noone ever mentions The Revenant? It may not be a proper western classic but for its grittiness, wilderness, beautiful scenery and realism, I think its the best movie to watch again before RDR2.
