RDR2 with keyboard and mouse

Hi, I am superhyped for this game and I've preordered it like two months ago. My only worry is that I will not be able to enjoy it on 100% due to controller. I've been playing on PS4 about the year now but since there will be a lot of shooting, aiming with analog stick still feels kindof clunky for me. I've finished games like Horizon zero down and Last of Us but I hate autoaim in games and I want to have the best time I possibly can with this game and aiming with mouse would be the best I believe. Does any of you have some experience with emulators for mouse and keyboard? Is it worth it? Thx.

I don't have experience with any of the KB+Mouse addons but if I had to guess I'd say it'd be an iffy experience at best. The UI won't be designed for it and the game will run at 30fps and probably have FPS dips which will make aiming with the mouse... not good. Plus there will probably also be some level of aim assist even if you can turn it "off" so it might feel even weirder to use cause of that too.

If you really want to use mouse and keyboard, you should wait for the PC edition to come out and get that as well.

If I'm not mistaken you could turn it off completely in GTA V.

I think I would feel it. I hated auto aim from the beginning even though the 3D era GTAs are f*cked up without it on console. :D

And if I remember right the UI was the same on PC also.

But you are right 30 fps max will make you hate aiming with a mouse.

I might be wrong and I am guessing here as I don't know for sure but I would be a little surprised if the console versions have literally zero aim assist even when it's turned off. Aiming with a controller without it is a bit funky. But I'm just guessing.

The reason I mention it tho is that even the tiniest amount of aim assist is noticeable when playing with a mouse, even if you can't feel it with a controller.

I actually wanted to ask the same as Jedster. I don't like playing first & third person games with a controller, only sport games or the Lego ones. Even if I only have 30 fps, I'd definitely still prefer M&K. It's quite annoying that consoles don't want to give you the choice right from the start, unlike PCs.

That kind of defeats the purpose of a console.

Not really, I have pretty solid PC but I got ps4 cos you can't play some good games on PC... Like RDR2 for example :)

Most games allow turning off all Auto aim. In fact, I'm so used to aiming with a controller that those games that force small assist usually throw me off.

I am using XIM adapter for playing RDR and it works quite good. Aiming is much more fun and you can be much more accurate than with the controller if you turn auto aim off. Of course, it is not the same as playing on the PC because of the turning speed limit the game has on consoles. If you move the mouse too fast the screen will lag behind. You get used to this with time so it is not really a problem. You can set all the buttons from the controller to the keyboard and mouse. Only 4 wepons can be selected with the mouse when using wepon wheel, so you have to use keys for the other 4 wepons.

I will definitely be using XIM for RDR2 if it will have the ability to turn auto aim off like RDR has.

Thx, I bought emulator device called Aten phantom S, tried it only briefly but with little in game tweeking with sensitivity, it was pretty good... Key maping is kinda pain in the ars, but once done, you are good to go. It cost about 150$.

I am curious how good it will be with RDR2, but for now i am pretty optimistic :)

If you are a patient man i would recommend you wait for the PC version.

I would rather pay 500$ for a console bundle rather than waiting for something that isn't even officially confirmed yet.

I already have a PS4 Pro, RDR2 is what I'm buying next.

That is main reason I have bought PS4 pro in the first place, when I found out that RDR2 is going to come out I bought the console and all the exclusive games I wanted to play and I don't regret a single dollar spend on console. All the great games like The Last of Us, Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War, Uncharted 4 (not so awesome as I thought it would after so much praise, but not a bad game). And so many are coming, The Last of Us 2, Days Gone, Death Stranding (maybe :P).

As much as I don't like the concept of exclusives (to sell consoles) There are some Awesome ones and it's worth it for me.

If RDR2 will be released for PC I will buy it as well but for now PS4 will do... :)
