Will GTA Online still be popular

I guess RDR2 is full of "horsepower" but not the same kind as GTAO.

As long as there's not cars of all kinds in DRD2 I will never leave PaletoBay for the wild west.

Red Dead, whilst similar, is a different style of game; much slower paces (at least the first one was). I have played the first one, and I simply couldn't get into it. Cars will always win over Horses, and Rockstar can't exactly introduce hoverbikes and fighter-jets into a Western theme. GTA5 has years of life left in it yet, and will (likely) only die once GTA6 is released, and I doubt that'll be for another two years (at least).

RDR 2 will take over on the sales charts and GTAO will lose a LOT of population because most people will be too busy with RDR 2.

The real question is "will GTAO ever be enjoyable to play?"

GTAO isn't going anywhere anytime soon. RDO will attract a different player base.

There's a reason GTAO has become such a juggernaut, there is no available alternative to the experience it offers.

A little redundant as that has been a huge question for the last 5 years.

RDO wont take away any of the negative from GTAO, you will still get dicks in GTAO.

RDR2 is definitely going to be a lot different than GTA V, so of course a lot of people will choose to remain in GTAO until the next GTA game. RDO is going to be most likely filled with fans of the first Red Dead Redemption and people who enjoy a slower, more immersive and realistic pace.

RDR's community has a lot less children... and of course people have different tastes too.

I love both franchises but anyone who thinks Red Dead will kill GTA is a blind fool. Only GTA 6 will be the death of GTA 5.

I'm sure the GTA lobbies may be a bit empty for the next month, since it is a Rockstar game much like this.... but they'll fill back up. GTA Online isn't going to get canned for Red Dead's. Less kids = less microtransaction profits and of course there are people like me who'll probably just play MP for the achievements then f*ck off back to SP. I'm glitching RDRO.... not doing the grind in two games lol If I can hunt, I'll play legit.... if hunting isn't in MP, I'm glitching

Well really, GTA Online is already considered "dead" not in the common use of the word but in the sense that it is past it's primetime both in playercount and enjoyability.

It's just that this forum is based around GTA with it's diehard fans that we still act like it's still alive, when in reality and the view of anyone outside our community can see GTA V Online is a dead man walking. It's irrelevant in our current gaming scene and Rockstar have taken focus on Red Dead instead.

Not saying it's as dead as World At War or GTA IV Multiplayer, but it's way past it's prime.

I'm just looking forward to immersing myself in the RDR2 story. It will be good to have a nice change of pace and some peace and quiet, just to soak it all up in slow time. It's going to be a nice run up to Christmas with this.

Yup. Exactly my sentiment as well. I've tried to find substitutes for those times I've either gotten burned out with GTAO or new content has dried out (like right now), and nothing compares. I play solo quite a lot in GTAO, so not even single player titles can compare, well, at least for me personally.

With RDR2, I will get it, I will play it, but I'm pretty certain I'm still going to return to Los Santos at about the same frequency I do now.

The only thing I think will pull me away would be a new GTA title or if a company miraculously comes out with something that can go toe to toe with GTAO.

Yes, it will.

My hope is that all the normal people will go to RDRO while most of the idiots, especially the children, remain at the GTAO sh*t show.

The games will co exist until the next GTA makes this one obsolete.

My question is, do you play other video games besides GTA online? I know I do, and so do most of my online friends. So I'll probably play RDR2 one day, then go back to GTA online the next in order to race, catch up with friends, etc. The game has been out since 2013 and I can't face playing GTA online more than so many hours per week, so I don't see how RDR2 will affect my GTA online experience at all. Not only that, but RDR was awesome on last gen, but I still got bored and went back to GTA IV on a regular basis to race, death-match, do a bit of cops n crooks, etc. I think that situation is going to repeat.

Not everyone likes Wild West ganes, and some like myself will do just fine rotating the two alongside the rest of what they play regularly. I've never met anyone who only plays one game.

yes... i have no doubt in that.

rdr is not for everyone, kiddos are used to flying cars and bikes and orbital cannons would die of boredom in the rdr setting and time frame.

RDR2 will have an effect, sure. But not because it's the next "GTAO". It's because gamers like good games, so they will be playing that. Some will come back to GTA, some won't.

Will GTAO still be popular overall though? Absolutely.

This version of GTAO will die when GTA VI is released however.
