Latest consensus about “off-road” tires?

I’m aware of the coding rule for a few cars about clipping tires.

 

that aside, I don’t get it.  Deeper tires have more air, lower pressure, and less grip on pavement.  And amount of tread in tires means less contact with surface, less grip, and slower acceleration.

 

also, the larger WHEELS on “high-end” wheels have rigidity out to a larger radius from the axle, so the car will travel further per power input (because the extra rubber and void space in deeper tires is not rigid and therefore can’t as efficiently convert the input force into move to of the car.

 

Tuner tires (seemed to be the popular choice for racing) are terrible and make the cars bouncy, which completely negates the point of upgraded suspension.

 

now, I agree that if you’re going to go Mach 1 over a curb in a super car that it will be smoother with a thicker tire.
