Why so much advice to “play in private lobbies”???

I get why someone would do that, but there is zero money to be made that way, at least for all the business stuff.

 

And, for most missions a new gameplay area is created with just the participants and the NPC open world.

 

I suppose my opinion is predicated on the fact that getting money is kind of integral to the game.

 

I guess I’m wondering what exactly goes on in invite-only lobbies that makes it desireable.

Another topic...

 

What people mean is "Public" titled lobbies with only you in them. Sometimes you can luck into them through changing sessions, but most people use MTU ~800 on their PS4 or router, or some other way to keep people out. In a solo public lobby you can do practically all the business activities.
