steeljacket488
Ps4 Pro RDR 2 bundle puts Hdd space requirements at 105 gb. That will put this game at the new record holder for install size on ps4, I think last one was COD black ops 3 at 101 gb. If this is indeed the size of this game it just shows the love and quality RS has put into this title. This wont of course count the day one patch if it has one, which a lot of games do now days. https://www.gameinformer.com/2018/09/26/red-dead-redemption-ii-has-105-gb-install-ps4-gets-extra-content-30-days-early What is everyone else think about this monster. mark.gunt22
can someone explain to me how it's possible that COD has as many GBs as RDR II though Read dead is 100x more complex and bigger? How does it work? It makes no sense. H. León
Jason
File size doesn't have to have anything to do with the amount of content. Audio compression alone can be the difference between a game being 50gb and 100gb pretty much. The PS4 supports Blu-Ray discs that can hold up to 100gb+ I believe so it may come on one disc, it may come on two. The 105gb install may include Red Dead Online which could be an optional download, or the 105gb figure could even be incorrect. It's not officially confirmed from Rockstar yet. crazedZ10, lndex and Semaj 2JZ♢

So what is the biggest possible discs size that can be used or was used for the consoles? and can stock ps4 and xbox one also read 100 gb discs? I could be wrong, but I think commercially discs only really go up to 100gb (same as a 4k blu ray, whereas standard blu ray are 50gb)
H. León
Features Bundle includes a copy of Red Dead Redemption 2 on Blu-ray Disc , a Jet Black PS4 Pro 1TB console , and a DUALSHOCK 4 wireless controller. From amazon so only one disk? VolumeRX and saintsrow
cremefraiche
I feel like generally when they say you need X amount of free space, its the size of the game and then some just to give the console some breathing room. Possibly 90-100gb on the disc, plus a day one patch of 5gb? Just speculating

Only the Xbox One X has a disc drive capable of reading BDXL discs. The PS4, PS4 Pro, Xbox One, and Xbox One S all have a standard Blu-Ray drive. That means the max they can have per disc is 50GB. There's a reason next gen consoles need BDXL or Sony's archive discs that can hold more than BDXL's 100/125GB. Meanwhile Microsft has a policy that all Xbox One games have to be compatible with all Xbox One systems. Unless they're changing that policy, the only 100/125GB disc the Xbox One X will continue reading is 4K UHD Movie discs. As for RDR Online, it's not releasing until sometime in November. GTAV's PS3/Xbox 360 case wasn't accounting for GTA Online's post launch update, so I don't see why RDR2 would. Either Microsoft and Sony have updated their OS to allow multi disc installs, or RDR2 will be 50 GB disc install + 55GB download. (Perhaps multi disc installs is a hidden feature in PS4's 6.0 OS Update...) Jason, TheTruth22333, Niko B3llic and 1 other

Jason
I would strongly suspect that the game will NOT require a mandatory download to play the single player. I do not know of a single console game that does it and it would be a very... uh, bold thing to do on Rockstar's part. mark.gunt22
how did the last 2 call of duty games got around this problem? They are around 90 GBs in size on ps4 and yet I saw on youtube that they came on a single disc.
Jason
No PS4 game has yet to install at over 50gb to my knowledge, the games that are 70gb (of which GTA V is one) have done so through post launch DLC and Pro enhancement patches. If I'm mistaken it'll be because they'll have required mandatory downloads for the online multiplayer and not the single player.

There are still many many places world wide that have steam driven internet. No dev is going to expect a "disc" customer to do a mandatory download before play. Commercial suicide (a bit dramatic I know) That's the whole point of a disc no? Plug and play..
qOjOp
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt file size is a massive 50 GB for PlayStation 4. Heart Of Stone is 4 GB. Blood and Wine is 13 GB. Witcher 3 in it's entirety is 67GB. RDR II IS 105 GB! wOW! Graphics must be really awesome then, I guess... saintsrow

HMS_Duke
This is most likely a tad 'misleading' and file size isn't indicative of how big or small a game will be in terms of content. Because this is a bundle I'm presuming it'll just come with a digital download code for Red Dead Redemption 2, and because of how the PS4 handles digital games, you often need double the amount of space necessary because the game is installed separately from the download. I imagine the actual game itself will be somewhere between 50 - 60gb, possibly higher if accounting for things like day one patches. lndex, Cratoz, Mastah and 2 others
SDJ
The 105 GB aren't surprising to me. All the little details, and probably more spoken lines then in any other game(Just think of the NPC interaction in our camp, towns and everywhere), 200 detailed animal species in various variations and the extremely detailed objects everything on a level we never saw before. It was somehow clear already that the game will be bigger then most others until now. Edited September 27, 2018 by SDJ

You talking about how GTA V on 360 did it? One disc is an install disk and the other disc is what the game runs of? That wouldn't work with the PS4/Xb1 to my knowledge, all games on these consoles run off the HDD, the disc just becomes a way to check you own the game once you've installed it.
