GTA VI "Teen rating"

Recommended Posts

Samz707

GTA won't ever be teen nowadays, look at payday 2, that game has very little violence, sexual content or swearing but the main enemies are the law enforcement, that seems to be a thing the ERSB rates games higher for.

A little off topic but in a world of digital distribution are ESRB rating as important as they were a decade ago?

It really seems that any kid can get any game these days through Steam/Xbox Live/PSN as long as they have a way to pay for it.

Personally I have not been in a game store for almost 10 years and I'm a little older than 17 :D

DO you see Rockstar toning down GTA VI to increase their audience?

Regardless of whatever ends up being in GTA VI; do you see Rockstar toning down their violence or keep expanding on it?

Without the nudity GTA V would have a Teen rating in the US I guess.

And for what reason would they do that ?

f*cking hell if anything teenagers and young adults are already the main and almost the only audience and demographic of the series and they are BECAUSE of the violence and crimes you can commit in it.

Hmmm nice bike

GTA with a T rating would be like when they made Die Hard 4 PG-13. It's not gonna sell any more copies, it's just gonna tone down the violence and swearing to a dumb level for the type of franchise it is.

i can't see them going down to teen again. i could see them going down from AO to mature though, since AO is much harder to sell

Increase their audience? Everyone and their mom already owns (at least) two copies of GTAV.

Last GTA and RDR2 were rated Mature. I would love the next GTA to be rated as Adult Only, I want to play a game for adult.

Not happening any time soon.

AO games are pretty much unsellable on any physical game store and any console so they'd only be able to sell the game online and only for PCs.

I can't see it happening.

I know R* love profits however they put too much pride into their work to be capable of toning it down to that required level.

Having a T-rated GTA game is like hillbillies being called Sons of the Soil. It's just not going to happen.

You might as well ask for an R-rated Mickey Mouse film or a non-alcoholic bottle of Jack Daniels. It's just not feasible.

Ha! Never in anybody's lifetime. Being "M' rated itself sells.

I was playing GTA1,2,3, VC, SA when I was a kid. I loved murdering pedestrians, torching people. I was laughing at it. Did that make me a psychopath in real life? Did that make me a school shooter? No. Because I can differentiate between a video game and real life. Toning down the rating would mean all the gore, all these things would be gone so...nah...never.

I don't know how GTA 2 for the US market achieved the Teen rating, because there is a mission late in the game that involves converting humans into hot dog meat and distributing it to its employees.

A fun mission but very disturbing when you look at it very carefully.

That mission on the PS1 version targets the Hare Krishna, not innocent pedestrians. The PS1 version was toned down to a "T" rating because of some of the music had to be altered.

On-Topic: The next GTA wouldn't sell nearly as much if it were rated lower than "M" - the Mature rating is what sells the game in the first place. Dan Houser once said during the production of

Chinatown Wars that "Nintendo wanted us to make GTA, and we wanted to make a game on their platform. They didn't want us to make a GTA for kids, and we weren't interested in making a

game we wouldn't normally make." That alone should say a lot about Rockstar.

Oh no, and a resounding no at that, in that Grand Theft Auto: VI has the intent to transfer all of the callousness, brutality and violence that runs through our reality, as a simulated reality. It is highly probable that you will be reluctant to undertake some mission objectives, for how they will align with reality. However, there will not be a preset manner in which to attack your missions, per unstructured freedom and player choice. Freedom will surely be encompassed as part of the player toolset, if you will. Of course, nothing is born with a label in the way of materialistic possessions within Grand Theft Auto: VI, a key set, I would postulate, will be integral to the aforementioned player toolset. 🙂
