I cannot believe how toxic Rockstar has allowed GTA Online to become!

This video shows how even experienced players don't get time to breath. There was nothing you could do other than take the beating from the cheaters. 5 of them against 1

And the worst thing is they (the cheaters) see nothing wrong with this sort of behaviour (no sh*t because they don't care)

But of course, and we've been saying it for over 10 years now (even before GTA Multiplayer) if the cheaters and DDos'ers (Or bad players in general) get jumped on by another DDo'sser they'll be the first to b*tch about it no doubts about it. Yeah nah you lost your right to complain about it the moment you became one yourself. Perhaps you should take a good look at yourself and see the utter failure you've become. I imagine they look like this in real life, along with the room and house they game in;

And they'll probably decide (if not their automated system will) decide to ping you for making so many reports in such a short timespan even if your reports are legit and valid because Rockstar thinks "Hmmmm, who makes 5 reports against people in such a short time span? must be a very upset player and these reports certainly can't be legit, let's ping them for it".

I've played so many other games in real life that contain a report function and some don't even have a cool-down on the reports you can send (others will override your previous help request and replace it with the new one if it hasn't been responded too yet but that's more for support tickets I think)

 Sure GTA4 Mutiplayer had it's fair share of Script-Modders (and a majority of them were douches because they had high power over other players but there's was always a good diamond in the rough) but besides that I don't recall GTA4 Multiplayer being toxic. I don't recall dealing with Tryhards or K/D warriors, probably because there wasn't as much player customisation for one and two I think the game lacked a K/D ratio stat but I could be wrong.

GTA 4 online had mostly none of the bullsh*t that GTAOnline has nowdays. I use to like being able to go around the map and pick what ever weapons I could up and go for a battle at the local FIA

I understand what you mean. The freeroam public lobby has changed with all the new vehicles etcetera. But its not mandatory too play/ stay there. You can play races, deathmatches, adversary mode, heists then you avoid the public gameplay room when it anoys that much

I think alot of gamers are used to playing alone. Especially older gamers. My dad is in his 40's and has been gaming since it began in the 70's. From the 70's right through to the early to mid 2000's all they had to play was single player campaigns as there was no online gaming like there is today. Just single player campaigns and a bit of split screen. So people from the 70's, 80's 90's and early 2000's are used to playing alone. My dad and all his friends aged late 20's to 40's don't play online, they all play single player. Sometimes they will play 2 to 4 player split screen, but mostly single player and swap physical copies with each other.

I'm 43 and play online. I'm in an adult crew with some older and others younger. We don't allow immature kids or try hard morons.

Took me 2 years to finally get into the online portion of this game. Took about an hour for me to realize I needed to find dependable people to game with.

I don't know what game you've been playing, but it's been toxic since the first money cheaters/glitchers took over less than a month into this games life. It's just that R* has continuously added more things to increase the size of the pit.

Bitching about it in a serious fashion, like you think your complaints are going to change anything this late in the game is beyond pointless. Deal with it, take it to the B&M specific thread or move on to something else. If you choose to move on, guess what? You don't need to tell anyone. Nobody cares.

It isn't too late. Try to see the bigger picture. Rockstar have a new game releasing shortly, Red Dead 2. Rockstar and Take Two have made comments about how future titles may or may not be based on all the community feedback. Like how people moan about microtransactions. They have said future titles may not have any. Why? Because people moaned enough. This thread has alot of likes and people who agree. We, the people, can make a change if we're loud enough. Look what we did to EA Games recently. We made them remove microtransactions from Star Wars Battlefront 2. If we would have just sat back and said nothing they would still be in the game. Look at how we are fighting loot boxes in games. Several countries are now banning lootboxes within games because we spoke up. If you don't speak up you are not heard and will continue to get shafted.

As for people not caring. People do care that i have moved on as I've had people emailing me here asking me not to go and people in the forum offering me a safety net within a crew.

There were no tryhards in IVMP because the game didn't had the mechanics to let thrive in PvP:

-No EWO;

-No sticky bombing their feet(not as practical as it is on Online);

-No thermal goggles;

-No Ghost Org;

-No off radar;

-No passive mode;

-No jets, APC was fairly easy to deal with;

-No K/D ratio(not as easily accessible as it is on Online);

-RPG was almost impossible to spam, right after spawing you would survive your suicide attempt;

-No FPS mode;

-No meme mobiles;

-No sniper wiggling.

Only real problem of PvP in IVMP was that you would lose your picked weapons after dying, so the guy who killed you would get a unfair advantage, but that was it, and the respawn points weren't as bullsh*t as Online are.

Goddammit, it's incredible how that game did PvP right and how this game does everything wrong.

And that is why you can't say IVMP was the same when it clearly wasn't.

*snip*

What bugs me the most about GTAO’s current state is that with all new vehicles, instead of being more dynamic, it has become more simplistic. You killed someone? Don’t use a car to drive away because in 10 seconds you’ll have a Mk2 coming after you. Are you on a Mk2 yourself? Only chance you have of surviving is going ghost.

Forget about a regular, good old, action-packed car chase using stunt jumps and get away-driving through sewers, train tunnels and parking garages like we used to do in the good old days (and like they’re doing in movies). This movie only has one grade Alpha predator, namely the Mk2 and maybe his little brother, the Deluxo. No use being a good driver because you’ll die anyway (unless you use them yourself or you go passive or Ghost).

I remember back when I started using bikes to get around town. I got really good at it and it was amazing to lose the tail driving through alleys, tunnels, doing jumps, shooting from it, throwing stickies at police helicopters while stunt jumping.

None of that is possible anymore.

This is the thing that broke my GTA Online spirit. The weaponized vehicles have become the end and the beginning. There is nothing else to do but hide in passive, leave or join the f*ckery. I haven't played this game in at least three weeks now (if not a month) and I'm over this never ending escalation.

2015 - Hydra, Savage, Insurgent, Kuruma got used to those

2016 - Ruiner 2K, Armored Cars, Ghost Org got used to those

2017 - Thermal Scope, Explosive Rounds, APC, Oppressor, Deluxo, Vigilante, Akula, Hunter, Orbital Cannon

Got used to all those too

2018 - Oppressor MkII, ScramJet,

Here we go again

I usually adapt and deal with it but the unsolicited weaponized vehicles with After Hours was the last straw. The options I have to escape and respond are becoming increasingly limited, it seems. When will it end? I don't want to be another tool on a MkII flying around just to keep folks away or to get even. All of this only for something else to come out 6mos from now that's equally preposterous and devastating. Something that could become the new be all/end all dominant option (compared to it's alternatives) so Rockstar could better  make the sharkcard sale to the player who feels like they have enough already.

I used to enjoy PvP heavily when it seemed there was a plethora of ground and aerial options to wage a fight, but these days it's the same handful of vehicles or nothing. Same tactics on the ground too. Wiggle snipe, ghost org, thermal scope, or take the L. The tactics raise in intensity and the game gets more and more repetitive. Freeroam has been toxic for years but at least you had options. At least there was variety to the chaos.

Now it's all the same, all the time.

I dislike the boring emptiness of solo public lobbies and grinding in crew sessions is only so fun for so long. Because prices are high and other players are needed, heists are overplayed as are contact missions and Dispatch. Once you get past the difficulty of the NPCs there's at least the online players to throw a wrench into your expectations. But nowadays even that has become repetitive...if not predictable.

There's no excitement anymore.

It's really sad to see the game in this state, not to mention all of the lost potential. But hey, GTA Online is quite profitable and quite popular, which - from a business standpoint - is literally all that matters. So (for the Original Poster) there's the raison d'être for the situation we find ourselves in. The game is also five years old however, so if things aren't so rosy in Fall 2018...eh, what can you say, we had a good run and all good things come to an end eventually. Luckily there's other games to play and other things to do.

Ah you reminded me with the getting used to things. Bunker got the weapon upgrades felt good for awhile then everyone has them hey hey explosive sniper rounds with thermal scope, fun right... First week of bunker some guy using them on everyone in the lobby pawning joys welp passive time for me. I was at a point in the game where I was buying the latest things like the Hunter and Akula just to survive had a short time I did too without worries felt good felt new, I can defened myself finally and do things in free roam without passive, amazing there's a game here I can tolerate for more than 30min a day. Getting used to them I was confident to defend myself when needed for a short while when they were the flavour of the months nothing can top those right... Orbital cannon was in there saying hello, that's okay maybe it wont be used too much? See people doing heist setups the first few days getting obliterated then the person leaving fast to do it again free in some other server... oh dear maybe they'll fix it? Time passes.

After Hours oh look another tiny bike that anyone could control and use that has counter measures with accurate missles that can ruin almost anything that can be spawned with the Bikers Club oh okay. So what is next to counter this MKII and if you buy the MKII they are going to replace it with something new again to get people spending, how about a server nuke why not? After I bought a lot of the latest vehicles they released the silly ones and I just refused because they're just too silly in this, I play Saints Row 3/4 for silly and they do it well, this game doesn't feel right doing it only worked in the older games after GTA4 it seems strange still somehow. Maybe they'll surprise us with something even more "exciting" as the MKII they did it so many times gotta be something "good" coming to save our GTA souls right I can't wait to see what they do to help us loyal players next oh boy hallelujah.

I have to admit, as a new born toxic idiot, all the silly guns and vehicles come to good use.

Had a good session, me and two other toxic idiots, pretty much killed off the entire lobby. Using all the silly toys. Then we killed off eachother in any ways possible.

In the end I ended up feeling like a winner when one of the two ran to her facility to fire the Orbital Cannon on me.

OB 4 life.

I logged in to make this comment seeing as I've been inactive for a while and truthfully I had no reason to log in: I left GTA at the beginning of After Hours and haven't played since I also canceled my pre-order for RDR2. I refuse to support R* any further as their business practices are terrible and they've shown quite obviously to show little to no compassion towards their player base and quite frankly I just got sick of it.

The problem is simple. R* is catering to the wrong playerbase. Game was intended for 18+ players, with subtile humor, possibilities to accomplish things in creative ways and providing challenges with all kind of difficulty levels. Now the focus is on 12-16 years old, whose parents prefer it to spend money on sharkcards to shut the brats up instead of spending time with them.

GTA is like a once fine pub that decided to sh*t on their core costumers and is instead trying to use it's good name to rip-off tourists. You make more money with that in the short term, but it eventually ruins your place.

On another note, should we really put it past R to make this game crap just so they can sell more for RDR2? Maybe im reaching but a lot of these comments saying their purposely sabotaging gtao is actually becoming believable tbh.

I feel bad for a lot of next gen players.  I also feel like R* implemented way too much into the game in general.  I mean, sure, the new heists and what not are great but I feel like the weaponry on some vehicles is a bit too overpowered.  Reminds me of how on old gen tank/hydra griefers went around and did their damage, or you know, a modder just blew everyone up in the lobby single handedly using their menus.  🙄 I get the frustration though.

I had come to the same conclusion recently. I used to LOVE this game. I would blow off friends and family  to play. For YEARS. But it's gotten so egregiously unbalanced. If you're in an unarmored vehicle, you're on borrowed time. If you need a vehicle that can withstand THIRTY rockets, just to not die, there's something wrong with your game. GTA is literally an asshole simulator at this point.

Yet another in my long list of reasons for preferring to play solo.

I don't want to have to drive everywhere in a Nightshark or Insurgent. I like being able to use any of my collection of vehicles to get from A to B, but in public it just isn't viable.

Every now and then I'll change my MTU settings to see how bad the community is, and quickly realize why I almost always stay in lobbies by myself for the last couple of years.  Too many tryhards and griefers out there just looking to ruin the experience of others.  I play with others when it comes to racing and golf, but I'm sticking to solo lobbies for money-making.

That's where I'm at with it too.  I still get on on Tuesdays to do the weekly time trial in the Scramjet (I've already beaten them all with the Bati and Vigilante, so this is just something else to do).  And occasionally on a weekend morning to play with a good friend of mine.  Otherwise I am retired, and once Red Dead is out, I think I'm done permanently.

The only thing I can say, with much regret, in reply to the original poster here: unfortunately I can very much believe it.  I don't think the game was originally designed to be as bad as it is, mind you.  I think it was very much an inadvertent byproduct of Rockstar not having much experience with multiplayer design (I consider GTA IV and Red Dead multiplayer to both be failed experiments, basically), and chasing their ambitions down dark corridors they didn't have the wisdom or foresight to navigate very well.  Things that should have been nerfed either never were, or got it much later than they should have; things kept getting added to attempt to correct balance issues, and in the process just created new ones.  And the whole design of free roam made it a perfect griefer's paradise from day 1.  Meanwhile, I believe Rockstar started to notice which side their bread was buttered on - who was buying the shark cards, and what kind of content players were really clamoring for (mostly weaponized or armored, partly to protect themselves from free roam chaos, and partly because they wanted to inflict that garbage on everyone else).  I think almost everything they did after the original Heists update was explicitly designed to sell shark cards and to make the game into a more profitable engine for them.  And if your good times are sacrificed on the altar of selling shark cards to teenaged human garbage who just want better homing missiles and flying mememobiles, so be it.

It's sad that buried underneath this new, generally awful version of GTA Online, you can still see geological layers of some better iterations of the game that used to be.  Remember what it was like the first week after the Lowriders update, with people showing off their cars and NOT zipping around on flying bikes ramming unavoidable missiles up each other's assholes?  Imagine a version of this game based on deep customization and world-building content that fits into the theme of the game without being overpowered in the slightest.  Now compare that to what we got instead for the last couple of years, and you'll understand my disappointment.

And it's not that you can't thwart these troll vehicles (with some effort), but it's literally all the game is now. That's what every session devolves into. Log in and look at the map and see three Oppressor icons, two Hydras, two Deluxos, and an Akula that you can't see. You know as soon as you leave your garage, you're  going to have to deal with AT LEAST three of them. And should you best the assholes, you'll be charged insurance costs for your victory, and they'll have a shiny new troll bike or military fighter jet in seconds while you wait five minutes for your Johnny On The Spot cooldown to end for the car they destroyed.

How the mighty have fallen...

It was the Ruiner 2k that was all I needed to get f*cked over a good few times with.

Since then, I've simply refused to play that game you illustrated there. Tried now and then, but it just got worse and worse. I enjoy heisting and other co-op or versus modes. But freemode among others has literally been off limits aside the few times I land there and stay to watch and listen, lol.

Even then, landing in a session after using a Deluxo on a job while sitting there in passive. f*cked!

@Ice_cold2016I'll admit, nice CEO name.

lol Thanks. I often get people texting me giggling at my CEO name or asking what it means. Plonker means 2 things. An idiot or you can also call a penis a plonker. lol 😀

I miss this kind of GTA

Nowdays It's just too hostile for my taste. Stopped playing in public sessions years ago and never going back.
